61844417 actually but the point is that a little amount of them is actually used in research anyway I have no reason to argue in that there is nothing wrong it is just another system. But the point is if you prefer the danger of crisis that a socialist-model can bring or having people dying in the streets and that goes hand by hand with public health care which allow me to say in Greece is better
no, false domino effect, not to be a new military base for the Americans to the Europeans chercchent the recuperative ctte greece who created the economic crisis after the greece, romania domino effect
I see comments in many videos and foreign media about greek people by other countries' people.
And what I see reminds me why the people are not in power.Because their comments are irrational and irrelevant.Nothing to do with the problem greece faces.
We're trying to solve an economic problem here lads.Let the economists and the politicians(well some of them) do the job.
A good reason for limited comments from the Greek people is that many of them write in Greek characters and on Greek posts. So, only-English speakers would miss the point anyway. (Athens resident)
Obama, Pelosi and Reid wish to model the government in the US after the Welfare states of Europe. Greece is just the 1st to fail. This is USA in 20 years if they have their way.
It will take 20 years for the Baby Boomers to all retire, then Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid run out of money. If Obamacare passes, next year will be a legislative waste because it will be spent in the repeal process. The immediate future is grim, but there's still enough inertia in the American economy to keep rolling for a few more years.
@wideawake123 I hope you are correct about that...I have a feeling if Congress actually grows a pair and audits the fed they will panic and crash the whole economy. We'll have to wait and see..Hopefully your forsight is correct.
I pray to God I'm wrong and America remains for eternity the "Shining city on a hill". I pray I'm wrong that we only have 20 years before our dream dies.
note:The comments posted below are abridged and bit out of context due to the space limits. Though I agree with you on the party-line issue, the Republicans do just fine without that that 10% of the population and not all 10% is of voting age, able to vote due to prison convictions, or they havent the desire to vote, like any other population.Technically, Blacks lost to the Republican Party are virtually insignificant. If Obama only relied upon that small percentage, he wouldnt be President.
@wideawake123: I agree with the idea. It will only take a year or two to accomplish this. I believe the end of 2010 will be the year we see America fall...
The Bush tax cuts expire at the end of 2010, so we will continue to see moderate growth while uneployment will remain static until the end of the year. If "Obamacare" is forced on us, millions will protest and the mid-term elextions will be a bloodbath. When the Bush tax cuts expire, the real crash will happen and the economy will go into a depression, which Obama will blame on Bush. 2011 will a dark year for our Republic , but as I said, there's enough enertia to carry us a bit further.
Who pays for the maintenance of American highways, corporate research and development, foreign hospitals, foreign security, foreign investments...Obamacare: it is about time we pay for our people and not things. Our stability as a nation will rely on the health of our citizens, not our highways--particularly with virtual and cloud advancements!
Well no, but it would be nice. It turn out that this Takeover actually Taxes Medical research. I'm looking for the article I just read yeterday about a company that develops med tech. like a pacemaker that's immune to an MRI Scan...The point wast that they were laying off 1,000 workers to offset the added cost of "Obamacontrol". Without the paycuts to hospitals and Drs. there was an anticpated 40,000 Dr. shortage in 2020 in USA. What do you think substantially cutting salaries will do?
As you know, statistics can be misleading. Just for clarification--truly, I am not being sarcastic--is the number of 40,000 Dr. based upon calculations of Americans currently going without healthcare and therefore at that rate, 40,000 Drs. will be needed. Or was that data pulled from a speculation of Drs. needed, based on the a projection of national health AFTER ten years with a national public health plan? And as far as taxing med. res. that is fine. In an innovative capt. country those 1,000
@theteachingchannel The 40,000 Doctor shortfall is based on population growth and immigration, vs the number of students enrolled in Med-School, the mean age of those Drs. practicing currntly and projected retirements. These projection were made before the Bill passed. An additional $200 BILLION "Doc. Fix" Bill will be needed to compensate Drs who will be getting immediate paycuts due to the Takeover. How do decreasing salaries impact the #s we can only imagine.
The worst part is the Bill effectively centralizes All control in Wash. and Doesn't in any way achieve the goals advertised, Health Ins. will go up substantially and immediately.. The Takeover addresses Health Ins. which is the smallest fraction of healthcare costs. Ins. Cos. COMBINED Profits last year were less than $13 Billion, the equivolent of a rounding error in the cost of medicare fraud. Defensive procedures to avoid lawsuits cost $80 Billion. This Bill doesn't stop that either.
...those 1,000 workers may become competitors and employ others. Americans in the medical industry are very industrious indeed. I don't think they will sit on their haunches and put their hands out. But, yes, if you find the article--post--I'll read.
@theteachingchannel "...those 1,000 workers may become"...a lot of things. 1st they will become statistic and a further burden on the economy. Are you suggesting that reducing the worlds foremost medical R&D complex to a cottage industry is a good thing? European Socialized medicine relies on drugs bought from US Pharm Cos. who sell to them cheap. This Bill Taxes R&D and will stifle developement of new medicines and technologies.
All the rest of that "stuff" you mention must be tempoered with the knowledge that the very first thing "Obamacare"(ObamaCONTROL) pays for, and to the tune of 10,000,000,000 is 16,500 new IRS Agents. The only people who are really scared shitless about this Bill are those who read it. Did you know Obama, Reid, Pelosi, and all their acolytes are exempt from having to participate in the Govt. Healthcare exchanges?
@wideawake123-I have a contact who helped advise on the bill and read several versions. Of course, that is a biased opinion, but it doesn't seem to scare him at all. What scares those of us who know what poor national health means is the real potential of having a population of ill-minded and ill-bodied folks, who literally create weight and stagnate a country's forward movement. It is better to pay for a healthy nation. It is truly an issue of National Security in the long run. Think China.
Name one Big Govt Statist, Socialist, or Progressive Democrat that Is scared of Govt. Takeover of Any industry. Single Payer is their Holy Grail. As for your "ill-minded-ill-bodied dead weight"...How did we manage to become the greatest nation in History with them dragging us down for 230 years? What did LBJs "Great Society" do for the country besides enslave blacks to the system and the Dem. Party? How has Welfare aided our forward movement?
Thanks for the 40K shortage clarification. However, some of your comments have deviated from the topic of unemployed educated and qualified health care individuals becoming innovative competitors of larger corporate operations that may have to lay them off. I will do my best to address them though. As far as your perception about our nation being the greatest, perception is not always what it seems. If you mean in terms of military might, that happened with tax dollars.
@theteachingchannel Please name the Nation that has been a greater force for good in the world in the last 200 years. Not your perception, the reality. Who was the 1st responder to the Bande Ahce Tsunami. When an earthquake happens in Haiti, or a mudslide or Volcano in the Philippines...Who are the people calling for? Who's hand is that reaching out to help them?
This comment was interesting as well. This was my point earlier. Many Americans have a problem helping their own, but will give millions and billions to others. When we will give to our own in such a manner to reinforce our nation? And the programs you mentioned do have successful stories behind them. You must research beyond mainstream media and general knowledge to find them.
I ask you-nay...defy you to name the great scientific or economic breakthrough that was pioneered by a subject of the Welfare State? Which welfare recipient was it that invented Anything, or became wealthy as a result of being on Welfare? What does creating an all-encompassing, unsustainable entitlement with money We dont have, Our Children/Grandchildren Wont have do but make our economic downfall inevitable?
As far as welfare, you answered your own question. That is the point; we havent advanced to care for people in a manner that is actually productive as a system. It often kills the need for innovation and creates complacency.Additionally, I might add, when others turn up their noses, corporations like K-mart,Wal-Mart turn a profit from capturing the Welfare target market. So, those tax dollar checks go back into the economy to spur economic growth to the pleasure of those who know how to tap it.
@theteachingchannel We have Democrat Congressmen using the words "Redistributive Change"...is That the answer now? Take the money from those who produce and give it to those who dont, and do we trust the federal govt. with this job? They had 45 years to get Welfare right, did they? They had 73 years to get SS right, did they? They had 71 years with Fanny Mae and 43 with Freedy Mac. Now what?
I truly believe in action plans, business plans, leadership and failure and learning curves. I would say you roll up your sleeves, assess the strengths and weaknesses of each of those plans and get to work on a solution for the future generation.Create an NGO and take to the streets with a video camera and compile information, facts—real stories and then create commentary. Youll be surprised. There are many stories to tell which will answer all your questions and provide grounds for solutions.
I asked you specifically; is redistribution of wealth the answer to America's problems? How many new bureaucrats would be neccessary to oversee the redistribution? Please answer both of these question directly.
Then: In 1977 Jimmy Carter created the DOE, which employs 16,000 bureaucrats and 100,000 contractors($26Billion a year). WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE of the DOE?
@theteachingchannel They had 236 years to get the US Postal Service right...It's broke, Social Security's broke, Fanny and Freddy are broke, Medicare is broke and now you think trusting the Fed. Govt. to create a new Larger Bureaucracy with 16,500 New IRS Agents to "get control of the people"-Max Baucus is going to make the New Larger more intrusive entitlement work when Every Other Govt. Run Program has failed misreably?
@theteachingchannel I'm asking you...does it make sense when the current combined unfunded liabilities of Social Security and medicare/Medicaid are approaching Twice our total combined wealth as a People, to create another unsustainable Govt Entitlement run by a vast, newly created bureaucracy with 16,000 new IRS Agents in the vanguard? Please remind me; which govt agency doesnt lose Billions annually?
Your comment about ethnicity: There are more Whites on welfare. As Blacks make up 10%* of the American population, on average, Blacks are paying more for everyone elses tax benefits than others pay for Blacks-proportionally.This is simply part of being an American. It is, nonetheless, the governments responsibility, being my initial point, to care for Americans first and the World later. Divided we fall.United we stand. So, yes, it makes sense to reinforce our national health for the next gen.
@theteachingchannel Of course there are more whites on welfare, like yuou said blacks make up 10% of the pop. But proportionally they make up a larger % of recipients of welfare entitlements.(more than 10%) But that wasnt my point. I mentioned blacks in passing as a demographic who are enslaved on the Democrat's entitlement "plantation". While Obama got vitually 100% of the black vote in 08, typically democrats get 90+%.
@theteachingchannel Which of the Founding Documents, or Federalist Papers states that it's the Federal Government's responsibility to mandate healthcare insurance to individuals? Which part of the Constitution covers the Individual Mandate? Since you insisted on bringing up procedure instead of substance in this comment, discuss the constitutionality of it, then we'll look at what this Bill does "for" our children's health.
Your comments are just coming in now. I mentioned above-before they posted...this is good conversation--enjoyed it, but on vacation in Greece now and I was confirmed for a new position as editor-in-chief of a publication--next issue ironically covers leadership and global citizenry due in June...time to dig my nails into that...but, I truly appreciate your clean conversation towards thought provocation. Good posts. Cheers.
@theteachingchannel Tell the "Global Citizens" to pay their own way. I say they should pick an uninhabited island somewhere and start from scratch right alongside the "Venus Project". "Global citizens", "hyphenated-Americans", all destroying the fabric of society with their divisiveness. I can't think of a better time for someone in favor of redistribution of wealth to visit Greece. There's the end production of it.
Oh well, commenting is addicting: Correction: I am on vacation and I live in Greece. Global citizens attend a private school and pay quite a bit—generally getting into the Stanfords of the world due to their leadership. Greeces condition: cultural and Private corps. ripping off the govt. As American citizens working here, we pay taxes to the Public health care system. In the event of need, it works. We choose to pay private doctors for more serious conditions, but at least there is a buffer.
@theteachingchannel What do you mean "it works"? Greece is out of money. The people are rioting in the streets, it's on the news. If "it works", why has the EU had to agree to fincance Greece's debt to the tune of tens of billions? When a government program "works", the national treasurey doesn't completely run out of money, unless the goal was to bankrupt the nation, Greece's government entitlement programs did'nt work.
@wideawake123 I'll will tell you how it works. If you brake a bone you will need more that 300 Euro for all procedures and materials needed. In Greek hospital these things are free for all. Compare now to millions of citizents and imigrants or poor that have no health care. From our taxes a percentage allways goes to the Health Care no matter we have much or less to spare. This is the diference from the American Health Care system. The point is to save lifes and ill people & care less about money
@YiannisThiakos If I break(not brake) a bone, I'll go to the emergency room at any hospital in the USA and the will set it for me. Noone in this country is ever denied medical care. Now Greece...They're bankrupt. There are mass strikes, the EU has had to bail out an entire country, so the smart thing would be to find out hoiw Greece does it, and do the opposite right?
@wideawake123 dude i live in greece, I am greek. These loans are not wanted by the greek people, are deciced by the goverment. The people are agaist it as are also misinformed. Germany lead as to this mechanism and deapt. The hudge dept came by the incrising prices (cause by German economy) with the help of Goldman Sachs (connected to all EU ministers of economy tyhe last 20 years)
@YiannisThiakos Well what the Greek people want is irrelevent because Greece is Socialistic. The Govt decides what's best for the people. Greece is a wefare state that has run out of money. Don't blame Germany, dont blame Goldman... Greece failed because they spent money they didn't have and couldnt get from the people. You indebted your grandchildren. Don't you dare lecture a taxpaying American citizen on Anything!
Being Greek or foreigner,if something happens to you Public hospitals provide all assistance and products for free. Money wont be asked when you return in US for an accident's service you had in greece. There are programs for people with serious and expencive illnesses so as to reduce their cost or minimize it to zero. When you work part of your sallary goes directly (not through banks) in the Health care. With crisis the Health system quality declines but never bankrapts & can be reversed.
@YiannisThiakos Well the only thing that will make healthcare decline in America is this new govt. takeover Bill the soon-to-be outgoing congress just passed and the ex-(in 2012)pres. signed last month. You see, the finest healthcare in the world and By a WIDE MARGIN is found in the USA. Every drug your Dr prescribes for illness was developed and produced in America. Every medical technique...The World owes it's good health to America.
@wideawake123 don't get cocky because of the location. The minds created that drug was not an American student at all probably.Yous should know better that only 20% of americas citizens go to collage. The minds that america buy comes from all the world.(In case you wonder 95% of greeks go to collage or panepistimio and yes some of those minds are from greece) :)
@tomaroulii "95% of Greeks go to college..." And now, they riot in the streets. How many people does 95% amount to? 20% of America is 60 Million students. Millions of students from around the world come here to be educated. European drug maunfacturers use American facilities to develope their drugs, I know, I've participated in studys. Don't make the mistake of thinking I don't watch the news. Greece is falling because of their socialist entitlements.
@YiannisThiakos What you've done is mistake medical Insurance, for medical care. Noone is denied medical care in this country. When that Muslim human bomb wound up only burning his private parts nearly off, instead of killing hundreds of Christians on Christmas night, he was take to the best hospital, and given the best care available in the world free of charge. Noone goes with here.
@wideawake123 So why my relatives that live in US (Texas region) for 2 generation agree in the statment that if you are poor in US you actually have no insurance?... and without insurance come no service... We have all seen how private hospitals deny expensive treatments (use cheap substitutes) or have dumped old idividuals on the street (I ve seen many stuf in TV and Youtube). Is it a lie to say that many US citizents travel to Canada so as to taste their Health Care sytem services?
@YiannisThiakos Well that just wrong on every account. I lost everything and to add injury to my insult, I was injured in a riding accident. The Ambulance was free, The Emergency Care was free. The CAT Scan of my neck was free. They didnt find much damage, but they did find a tumor. What followed was every test imaginable, and eventual surgery, then Chemo therapy. Free of Charge. A King could not have received better care.
Keep up the awesome work!

Govt. to create a new Larger Bureaucracy with 16,500 New IRS Agents to "get control of the people"-Max Baucus is going to make the New Larger more intrusive entitlement work when Every Other Govt.

YiannisThiakos 1 year ago

The hudge dept came by the incrising prices (cause by German economy) with the help of Goldman Sachs (connected to all EU ministers of economy tyhe last 20 years)
YiannisThiakos 1 year ago

YiannisThiakos 1 year ago

The minds that america buy comes from all the world.(In case you wonder 95% of greeks go to collage or panepistimio and yes some of those minds are from greece) :)
tomaroulii 1 year ago

YiannisThiakos 1 year ago
@YiannisThiakos Well that just wrong on every account. I lost everything and to add injury to my insult, I was injured in a riding accident. The Ambulance was free, The Emergency Care was free. The CAT Scan of my neck was free. They didnt find much damage, but they did find a tumor. What followed was every test imaginable, and eventual surgery, then Chemo therapy. Free of Charge. A King could not have received better care.
