  • EVGA cpu cover for an Asus ROG board? WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?!

  • @TheMaristBoy lol EVGA CPU? its a Intel CPU. EVGA doesnt do cpus ;)

  • @TheMaristBoy my bad i see what you meant

  • @TheModernwarfare2009 Idiot.. Read properly before you comment..

  • ASUS MB and EVGA cover - - !!

  • But, will it run Super Mario Bros?

  • @Mk2SoLDiEr DERP!!!! HAHAHAHAA

  • Do is I say! not as i do!

  • look like 32gb of ddr3 ram o_O

  • Comment removed

  • My computer is using way too much ram but only after one year or so of use

it is a core 2 duo white 4 gb ram for example now I have only the web browser up & I have 0 mb free HELP

  • @WatchmenDrManhattan You got a very old pc D:. Windows 7?

  • @ItalyNerf I have the same issue. My PC is core 2 duo with 2gb RAM and i have barely anything open, only chrome and skype + i have only been using my PC for 3 months with a fresh install of windows 7 ultimate and my RAM usage is at 1.67gb I do want to upgrade to 4gb though.

  • @mclmatty Having a "modern" OS like windows 7 or vista needs more RAM.

  • You should have fired it on after that installation

  • Кривые руки оператора!)))

  • Do as I say, not as I do. I like that :).

  • what ram is that?

  • @denisaaj ocz gold

  • you are a computer technician! LOL

  • I was actually really scared when I installed my first i7 processor, the force that was required to fasten the processor was way beyond my expectations.

  • WHY DO YOU HAVE AN 980X, AN RAMPAGE 3 EXTREME, 24GIGS OF RAM WITH THAT OLD VIDEO CARD???????????

  • Now power it on

  • 10 people are sticking to their Slot 1 Pentium IIs

  • Did this fag just touch the bottom of the cpu?

  • is that an 8800gtx/ultra? on the desk at 3:10

  • @TheEchoInc its a GTX 260

  • Who buys a 1366 CPU and doesn't know how to install it?

  • @4628JP Rich kids?

  • not supose t otouch that CPU leads it iwll nuke the CPU and motherboard

  • not supose t otouch that CPU leads

  • I dont get why you would joke around with ESD issues. Some people spend a fortune on their hardware so why not give them sane advice and tell them to discharge of use a ESD wristband.

  • I'm a computer technician!!!

  • I'm glad that I've learnt how to become a computer technician. lol

  • ESD Practice Linus

  • 24gb of ram is completely useless unless ur encoding 20 videos at once

  • @MASTRCHIEFMOE more for virtualization

  • @MASTRCHIEFMOE

yeah after 4 gb or 6 gb its overkill in my eyes. unless you do more multitasking then your cpu probably could handle..

i would rather get some better and faster mem cards.

like low latency with high frequency and low temps.

  • @ImmortalUniverse i accidently pend a pin by my shirt on an 1155 motherboard and i run my system, until now i got no problems at all, could i face any issues in the future? and if so what shall i do?

  • @lilbesho

not every pin is used on a socket ,you might be lucky and damaged a pin that wasnt used.

if i were you i would leave it like it is and run some test.

run a cpu test program like Prime 95 or play a few games.

if you dont get crashes ,i think its safe to say the pin was not used with this cpu.

if you do get crashes you might wanna try to bend the pin back, if that is possible.

  • @ImmortalUniverse i ran prime 95 for half an hour already and there were no crashes and the pc was very stable but i am worried that i might face trubles in the future espicially that i do alot of gaming

  • @lilbesho if prime 95 runs 4 hours to 6 hours without problems on stress test/

i think its safe to say .you either bend a dummy pin.

or it is still making contact with the pads on the cpu.

just be carefull the pin does not shortcut 2 pads on the cpu.

if you still dont trust it , then bring the Mobo to a computer expert for check up and maybe repair.

  • @ImmortalUniverse i played crysis on highest settings for 7 hours and nothing happens, does that means i am ok?

  • @lilbesho

    i think so:)

    dont worry about it.

  • @ImmortalUniverse and why are there pins that are not used any way?

  • @lilbesho probably because there's a little difference between various cpu's.

but i dunno to be honest . i never wondered why.

  • SOUND AS ▌▌▌▌

  • ALRIGHT I HIT MY 990X IN WITH A HAMMER AND IT AUTO OVER CLOCEKD TO 20.5GHZ AND MY TEMPS ARE 30 DEGREES CELCIUS DURING PRIME 95 DO THIS

  • if that ram is OCZ 2GB 1333 ram: never buy it

i have 2 2x3gb sets of those and they suck, cant overclock it for 1mhz

  • @B00h44 Well usually if your buying that kind of ram, its in large quanities.. like 6-or 12gb

  • What graphic card is that?

  • Sweeeeeeeet board!!

  • Great info I lov watchin Linus' tech tips etc,but why does he behave like a child all the time, rambling and tapping delicate componentry like a half educated chimpanzee curious about an apple in a jar....?

  • @JarrodR31 Because celery

  • I hated 1366 cpu installation, i prefer the 1156, the one where you push the thing under the peg to secure it.

  • I love watching tutorials for hardware that i don't have

  • what was that huuge cpu?

  • Comment removed

  • thank you for sharing!!!

  • Installing an intel CPU looks quite difficult , amd just lift lever match the gold triangle and it's in .

  • @sjc05027 if you regard a cpu installation difficult, then please keep buying amd hardware

  • When I was closing the lever it made this creaking noise. I was scared I broke it, but in the end it worked fine. Installation of this is easy, just don't touch those pins. Also, I wouldn't touch the heat spreader either as that's where your TIM goes.

  • haha, u are so funny dude

  • @ 2: 54 i did the same exact thing when installing my 1000 dollar 980x. i was scared that i screwed something over.....luckily i didn't. :)

  • protective cover to protect fragile pins *TAP TAP TAP TAP*

  • 3:04 "...you have instaled the CPU into your 1366 motherboard, you are a computer technician.." XDD That shows how hard is to do it, and some people can do it wrong anyway.

  • cool thanks

  • whats that rectangle cpu @ 0:15

  • @markolo25 some random not working sample cpu for amd G34 socket..

  • Lol. It says EVGA on the CPU socket. I thought that was an ASUS motherboard.

  • AHHH YOU TOUCHED THE BOTTOM OF THE 1000 DOLLAR CPU!

  • @LinusTechTips did you just touch the pads of a 1000 usd processor , and then did you just knock on it like a door ???

  • ok here is a good question why do you have a evga socket cover on a asus motherboard ?

  • i wonder what computer does linus have...

  • @ninjaturtle205 I would like to know to, He proberly owned me a few times in Call of Duty modernwarefare 2

  • @LinusTechTips Is that long thing at 0:51 a cpu?

    Thanks.

  • what happen if i touch the expensive processcor?

  • Nice video

  • THANKS for video.

  • that board looks very very cool

  • @Dogsofwar909 it is:D i got one

  • i think its better to never touch the bottom of the cpu Linus .

you might have some grease on your fingers you dont see.

  • @ImmortalUniverse what grease

  • @ImmortalUniverse Im sure he knows that better than you

  • @jessekrynen

im sure he can also speak for himself.

  • @ImmortalUniverse

grease is good for everything even cpu's lol

  • @ImmortalUniverse of course there is grease on your fingers you cant see. even if you have just washed your hands with boiling hot water there is still going to be grease on your finger tips. Touching the bottom of the CPU with your fingers is fine.. I dont see how grease would effect that. Touching the top with your fingers is retarded because of the grease on your fingers will act as an insulator when you apply your thermal paste. Although I highly doubt it will effect temps in the slightest

  • @fleetwoodsucks

i never said you cant touch it, you on the other should touch the bottom.

go ahead ,sprinkle a little water too on the mobo while your on it .

    see if i care.

i mean ,it was ment as good advise.

if you want to damage your cpu , be my guest.

touch that sucker.,sprinkle a little water on it too while your on it.

    it can handle everything.

  • @ImmortalUniverse What a total sarcastic overreaction you twat.

  • @fleetwoodsucks

yeah i know ,i did my best to sound as sarcastic as i could be .

goz you dickhead deserve it ,this comment was almost as old as this planetl.

    dildo.

    so glad you noticed

    now fuck off

  • @fleetwoodsucks

You sir, are wrong. Grease from anything, including your fingertips can degrade the PCB of any electrical component, including a CPU. It affects the connection between the socket on the Motherboard and the contact points on the bottom of your CPU, adding a very slight chance your components won't function properly. Not to mention the grease will eventually damage the PCB, your parts' lifespan is shortened.

  • @SurvTheAbst Nope sorry. Your wrong. The grease from your finger tips will protect the PCB and make it last longer. It wont eat away at it like acid.

I admit its not best practice but it is hardly the component killer you all make it out to be. I Mean look at how many people on here do videos without proper esd protection. We like to pretend that our new motherboard is some highly delicate piece of electronic engineering but it isnt.

  • @fleetwoodsucks

Dude I work in data storage solutions. I have seen my share of fingerprint induced wear and tear on components' PCB. The oils from your fingertips do have a degrading effect on PCBs, takes a long time to do so, but it still there is an effect. My point is just don't touch and you don't have to worry. Plain and simple.

I do agree however about the ESD, as many people don't wear straps and do unboxings on their bedspreads and or on their carpets.

  • @ImmortalUniverse according to your logic I've mishandled every CPU I've touched. And never had a problem.

  • @railfan844

then you are mr clean and probably well isolated fingers , lol

and luck is with the dumb they say.

  • @ImmortalUniverse I wash my hands before and its not like I'm scraping the pins as much as I can, what I'm saying is that if you accidentally touch the pins nothing bad will happen.

  • @railfan844 accidently is another story , and it depends if something bad happens .

if you were electric charged ,maybe you could damage the cpu.

i dunno how much voltage a human can release.in a discharge,,but i guess it wont be good.

then we got the familar problem of people bending the pins .

your fingers can contain greas and connect 2 points unwanted, without you seeying any diffrence.

but ,its not my problem.what you do with your cpu.

you may forget i said it.

  • @railfan844

besides ,i wonder what your logic is then?

if i cant advise people to keep their hands from the bottom or wear cloves .

and you say its ok to touch it .

then i think your logic needs to be checked .

taking away risk is always good..

    dont you think?

  • @ImmortalUniverse as he also said..

  • @lhaarbye1488

    OMG . nerd

    9 months old comment.

atleast say something smart , when you answer old comments .

    you had enough time.

  • @ImmortalUniverse pls stop whining cryface Q.Q oooh even older now.. what u gonna do?

  • Where's the camera man?

  • do as i say , and not as i do :D haahahaha :D

  • Does it make a crunching sound when you pull the level to make the cover tight?

  • I'd so laugh if he dropped the CPU on the pins x]

  • What is a EVGA Socket protector on a ASUS Motherboard??!

  • @099psp Nice catch, LOL.

  • @099psp

    was thinking the same thing

  • scared me every time you tapped it with your finger lol

  • What was that rectangular CPU next to the i7?

  • @worlddomin623 would like to know too maybe server chip?

  • @worlddomin62 It's a fake chip lol

There are no chips out there thats that big.

He mentioned it like, a long time ago.

He used to use it to unbox stuff :P

  • @worlddomin623

It's and AMD G34 socket processor.

  • it focuses on the ram because its shiny . the camera wants to be shiny too xP

  • why, you made this video???

  • Was that a retangular CPU next to the 1366 CPU when you picked it up?

  • dude, stop touching the IHS :p i know you know what you are doing .... but still ... kids watch these videos :P

  • EVGA?!? isnt this ASUS Rampage III extreme?!

  • awwwww, to that's the difference between 1156 and 1366 cpu installation...

    wait there's no difference!

  • yea linus said i was a computer technition

  • you shoud take another camera.

i think you using a SLR camera .

  • AMD for ze win, intel application processors for ze lose.

  • @Tantoblade1pd Intel processors for ze performance, AMD processors for ze budget.

  • @TurboHertz

Not when Intel have only just figured out NOW how to unlock a cpu....please.....lol.

  • @Tantoblade1pd They know how, they just like to charge, extra. Nahalem and Westmere can own anything AMD has to offer.

  • @Tantoblade1pd Intel destroys AMD.

  • What's the deal with the rectangular CPU?

  • @TurboHertz what other shape is it supposed to be?

  • @Dany1148 Most CPUs are a square, the one beside the i7 is a weird rectangle, perhaps 1567 or 2011?

  • @TurboHertz Technically... a square is a rectangle.

  • @Dany1148 Well thats a technicality, the other processor beside the i7 is way longer in one direction than the other, I wonder what it is?

  • @TurboHertz Obviously, a rectangle. Just like all other CPUs.

  • @Dany1148 Your being a bit stubborn, the CPU bside the i7 was a VERY irregular shape, care to tell me what CPU it is if it's so normal?

  • @TurboHertz I never said that it was normal. and not all CPUs are completely square. So to say that one CPU is more rectangular than the other is assinine.

  • @Dany1148 But it is HIGHLY irregular, after talking to people who actually know what there talking about, the "processor" in the video is a blank "magny-cours"

  • @TurboHertz Well, atleast you learned 1 thing today.

  • @Dany1148 Your wording is hinting that you are a bit edgy ATM.

  • @TurboHertz Perhaps.

  • What was the other CPU? Looked like a crazy new Opteron with like 8 cores...? The big one?

  • lol is that an evga cpu cover on an Asus motherboard?

  • LINUS U FORGOT ONE IMPORTANT THIN.

***u should have told why the processor has to be aligned in way you did?

answer:You have to align the notches on the processor with the notch holes on the socket and most of the time many users miss on that and try to align it in a wrong way and many break the delicate pins in this process.

please update your video or release an updated video with this info before somebody actually does it.

    thnx if read it.

  • If they're so fragil, then how do they survive shipping?

  • @simysimy9

Because shipping doesn't actually touch the pins. Something has to physically get down on the pin to bend it, and that plastic cover prevents that until you take it off.

  • I don't think anyone who gets a 980X needs a installation guide Linus!

  • "very fragile pins" - *digs fingers into fragile socket very hard*

  • haha probably put that in cuase he lost the asus one

  • I would rather have the pins on my CPU imo. If I bended the pins on the motherboard I would have to take everything apart possibly breaking that too.

  • Whats that like rectangular shaped CPU? Is that an Octo-Core?

  • @bashbanger i Think thats an opteron Socket F cpu, wich could be an octo-core, but also an 12 core.

  • linus you make it look scary D=

  • lol evga protector on an ASUS mobo

  • i think a new cam is on the way cuz its going crazy on you!!!

  • thermal comp. installation please ?

  • EVGA FTW??

  • Nice Board, Nice CPU, Nice Ram, but the Graphiccard sux :D:D

  • what was the cpu next to the i7? iv been looking for it...reply pls :)

keep up the good work....though i use amd :(

  • If one is to buy such high-end hardware, one should not need a tutorial on how to install the CPU ;)

  • @Nitro090995 some people have more money then sense.

  • ehm one question this looks like the new ASUS Rampage 3 but why a EVGA socket cap on it, to protect the pins on the 1366 socket ?
