I feel such deep admiration for Craig Thompson. No other contemporary author has, in my opinion, reached such balance between technical skills and impressive and compelling stories. Yet he seems to be such a humble and down-to-earth being, a feature he will be needing in order to keep up in search and angst for new themes so his talent can keep on pouring from his brushes.
I have just traveled through his amazing 'Habibi' and I am absolutely mesmerized by it's beauty. A work of art.
"Habibi" is a great piece of art. I'm not sure whether I fully understand all the references to the bible etc. - but it's certainly impressive what he has done. Also it shows how "far" one can go with comic books.
I love interviews like this. Such great insights into the creative process of making comics.
