  • he is throwning him self -.-

  • What was that sound at 1:11? XD

  • 1:45 the name covers what you're doing with your feet =/

  • you're first hiza is a jump... and theres a few other mistakes but cba pointing em all out!

  • @1308lee

Hi; Its not a jump, its the quick step and sudden turning action prior that generates a lot of torque that makes them fly... please try it.

  • @chchjudoschool

    Still needs a 'good uki'

  • @1308lee asshole

  • True yoko gake is sutemi side sweep but I think of it as a sweep that you throw your falling body into! We don't always agree with scholarly classification of waza!

  • yoko gake = yoko sutemi waza not ashi waza :/

  • @PsychosocialGR

True; still feels like a sweep to me, with a committed drop. The kata version is a yoko sutemiwaza. The variation shown here is a sweep and yokogake name seems most appropriate to this waza.

  • You have a lot of spelling errors for the Japanese terms.

  • @kandiisuicide

    Hi;

Please list them and if I can I will fix them if they are in annotations,

I am better at judo than spelling, and would like to correct them with your help?

  • @chchjudoschool

    Guruma - Garuma "Wheel"

    Gari also means kick.

I could send you my Aiki Jujitsu Syllabus would probably help you with a lot of terms.

  • Very nice. Thank you for sharing that!

  • i like this video very much there are many very nice throws but your yoko gake was wrong to my opinion because its a sacrifice throw. isn´t it a throw of the yoko sutemi waza in the nage no kata?

  • that was beautiful form

  • ko uchi gari and kosoto gake are badly performed but tsubame gaeshi and nidan kosoto are excellent

  • great video guys...

  • nice video !

  • nice video !

  • Very nice videos but rushed so much to the point of losing educational value (if that was the intention). I still like it because it provides a nice overview.

I used to rely very much on speed and even strength. My latest coach (67 yrs old, 8th dan) said if you think you know technique, try it slow. It was quite an eye opener :-)

  • @oknevals

    Thanks

I can do some of it slow.

I attempted to be true to contest action rather than a focus on teaching technique.

If your sensei obliges please show the slow.

  • Crash bash with dash

    U sweep they weep

  • U Sweep they weep...

    Crash bash with dash

  • Very impressive action. Your foot sweeps were amazing. Every time you engaged, you'd position yourself differently & down he'd go. How much confidence this must give you. Not to mention stress relief & exercise. Question, aren't you supposed to yell when throwing? Seems like it's missing. Either way, bowing to you both for this.

  • @happymlk

Thank-you your nice comment; I have enough feel for judo (44 years ) to position myself and adjust differently but optimize my position (yielding judo)

True observation that my kiai (yell) is missing. (woops)

I always was the shy person, & I use kiai in randori and shiai,

  • i know they are on a mat but that guy is still probably really bruised up

  • @superjay360

Not at all; it's rare in judo to get bruised from a fall unless the other person falls on top and crunches you like we do in contest sometimes.

  • I like your video, but what is wrong with the cameraman? Tell him to stay still next time man.

  • @vietflyingeagle

TRUE... 11 year old's just aren't worth the ice cream they work for...

  • i like these weeps. I always try to use them to counter other sweeps or throws from higher belts. It works wonders trust me

  • @ferdo621

I tried to hide that I weep at judo; the others always laugh at me...

  • @chchjudoschool lol my bad you know what I meant of course. Weeping is a good technique too don't hide it XD

  • tsubame gaeshi the best!

  • VERY NICE STUFF.

  • Good video, good techniques. The o uchi gari was performed as a gake not gari. However it's very rare to see an o uchi gari, almost non- existent in modern judo.

  • I think it may need to be more clearly shown, t but it could be a trick of the camera angle. It feels like a reap (sweep) not a gake.(hook)

  • A sweep is harai, a reap is more of a circular motion, rather than a hooking the leg and pushing throught it. Most people do this also with ko soto gari, however your example of that throw is very well done. You very well may be right regarding the camera angle though,

    cheers.

  • Ill tell you what, that instructor in the white gi has some disgustingly refined technique. Great Video.

  • I always thought with O soto guruma your foot wasn't suppose to touch the ground? Am I thinking of a different throw?

  • Yes

  • What is the name of the throw if Tori's foot doesnt touch the ground?

  • perhaps osoto otoshi??

Perhaps just a variation on osoto guruma??

  • @Judokkaa

    tsubamigaeshi?

  • Nice! A very good ashi waza version for competition. I am a kata guy and impressed with the form which crosses over well to competition

  • if you were to do these holds on the street, would you just grab your opponents t shirt?

  • If they only have a tee shirt on; as in many hot countries, then grab with one hand the collar to the arm seam in one grab.

The other hand grabs the wrist or just above the elbow.

The alternative grab to a tee shirt grab is the back of the neck...

Stretchy clothing is harder than a tee shirt for controlling a resistant aggressor.

We dont usually have this problem as judo people are nice

  • @chchjudoschool

    Excellent stuff!

  • @jayjaygeebee

a real judoka would walk away from a fight.

if need be though we can grip arms and skin just as tight.

  • are these principals present in most judo clubs? cos id like to be in a martial arts club where people are nice.

  • Yes, although it depends on the level of understanding of the coach/sensei (Teachers 3dan & over usually means they have done their apprenticeship)

  • A "real judoka, " might not walk away from a fight; in many circumstances I have had to intervene in fights by other people to prevent serious injury or worse to youth scrapping.

In some cases a coward walks away.

In some cases a good person walks away.

A good man or woman will see sense in action, rather than talk and not be afraid to help others, when inaction would allow an injustice to continue.

Drunk people can do stupid & dangerous things.

Who better than someone trained to be gentle?

  • Exelent !!

Can you make one with Koshi-Waza o Te-waza?

  • Thanks; planning to before Christmas, that's after the Oceania champs in Samoa, and our NZ champs are over...

  • nice one!

  • good Judo

  • Nice video

but isn't Hiza guruma a hand throw?

  • On the Kodokan website it is Ashiwaza 1-2 (gokyo technique number)

  • Uchimata is classified a leg sweep, but not harai goshi; (koshiwaza/hip throws) I am not certain I understand all the classifications, and wouldn't want to put uchimata on here...

  • Added the TSUBAME GAESHI
