  • Does this technique actually give me any shoulder stability, or is it just reducing the pain?? My shoulder popped out last week and I got an important football game on Saturday..

  • @39footballguy It does help stabilise the AC joint at the shoulder, rather than the actual shoulder

  • can you do something similar for the sc joint?

  • @mycatisromeo Not sure, possibly although I feel it wouldn't be as effective

  • KT Tape is sooooooooooo much better.

  • @MrJonathanstreit Maybe not for this technique. I believe (I may be wrong!) that KT tape is not really designed for supporting a joint. More for muscles and drainage?

  • @sportsinjuryclinic That is correct. Additionally, there has been a study proving it ineffective in shoulder tendonitis.

  • Sorry but on watching this video whats the tape supposed to achieve? I have AC seperation and I don't see how taping up the side of my shoulder would achieve anything but give discomfort from a sticky tape covering my skin in that area.

  • @eddyjawed The purpose of the tape is to take the weight of the arm off the shoulder joint.

  • i hurt this playing rugby

i have a very important match coming up

if i do this, do you think i could play ok, with a bit of pain

but is it strong enough to support

And is that just general tape Micro ( something ) haha

  • @brushyateeth You should never play into pain. If playing causes you pain you should stop and rest/rehab it until it doesn't.

  • @sportsinjuryclinic

    Its not so much pain

    it feels like an ache

    is that like Tape ?

    or elastoplast tape?

  • @brushyateeth Its zinc oxide tape which is non-elastic

  • I got an AC joint separation a year ago playing rugby 10`s and it was fine till practice yesterday when i reinjured it and the same symptoms occurred. I dont plan on missing my match on saturday, can i make it any worse by playing with it?

  • i dislocated my ac joint 3 times it popped out you can see it popped out but i dont think its that bad because i do a lot of things it still hurts dough what can i do to not make it pop out n e more?..

  • 19 days later back on the ice playing hockey, not supposed to according to doctors but i can shoot fine thats all that matters, its playoff time

  • im recovering from a grade 3 separation i did 12 days ago and have most of my range of motion back but still kind of weak... seems like pretty good progress to me... am i right?

  • @mitch0062 yeah I would say thats not bad going! Keep it up...just don't push it too hard!

  • i have ac joint seperation on my right shoulder! had my arm in a sling for 6 weeks now, getting bored, need to get back to gym like noww!

  • this injury really sux... i need to go back to gym!

  • I am recovering from what they tell me is a AC grade 2 separation 6 weeks ago! for the past month I have been able to do almost everything, other then push ups and bench press, The doctor told me to return to him 6 weeks later which I did, he did not take a second X Ray, just asked me if i could do this, do that, do this, do that, ok have a nice life. told me to take another month off before I return to the ICE. I am really upset about this injury!

  • two years ago i fell and i got a 3rd degree ac joint separation. sometimes it bothers me, the doctor said the only way to fix it is surgery. but i can mostly function. do i really need the surgery?

  • this was really helpful, thank you. I separated my shoulder (grade 3) a few years back, and after starting front squats recently, my AC joint has been flared beyond belief. (just from the bar sitting over it) Any recommendations other than ice and taping it down to help relieve the inflammation?

  • AC joint taping is not suitable for should subluxation and dislocations, only for injuries to the AC joint.

How long it takes to heal depends on the extent of the injury, a grade 2 of the ac ligament only should heal within 6 weeks when you can start exercises gradually

  • does it work for old ligament injury as well?

  • I got a 2nd degree torn AC playing rugby.. Leaving for MCRD San Diego in 4 months how the fuck am I supposed to work on my pull-ups? By the way just wondering, how long does it take for these injuries to heal?

  • is this taping technique suitable for the shoulder popping in and out?

  • i recently (today) fell of my bike causing an TYPE 1 AC dislocation . . . wateva tht is , any way i have an important bike race in 8 days, dus this work and any 1 no how to speed up the healing.

  • hey man how is your injury doing after 3 months? I just had a type 1-2 6 weeks ago how is your strngth and range of motion is it better? I need to know whe i can play hockey lol.

  • i have dislocated my right shoulder about 8 times and now i have problems with it, i cant do bench press without having a ac joint dislocation, this helps? a surgery its what i need? some know?

  • i know this is kinda late but yeah it works. i dislocated my left arm during Bjj and Judo many times and this taping really works. =] it help me alot. my ROM is alot better now.. nowadays i rarely use tape anymore. and its only been 2 months.

  • excellent cheers
