  • very nice

  • unusual seeing horses being used with no blinders on them.

  • not seeing trees as doller sighns glad some one gets it

  • Just love watching this vid ,thankyou for sharing your wonderful life !

  • Those look like such happy and healthy drafts. Nothing like the poor ones in NYC.

  • How many acres of hay and pasture land does it take to keep one horse for a year?

  • many of these draft breeds take about 2 bales of hay each per day depending on the horse. also check your local area many places have a rule of 5 acers for the first horse and 1 acer for each after that. but check with your local area (USA) hay prices very based on location and type of hay. and then of corse there is grain, vet, ferrior (gets expensive with large breeds) and coggins testes, shots, ect. so it take salot to keep one. but we lovem

  • I loved the way he thanked his

Mighty horses for a good weekends work ..

  • I use my horses for mounted patrol and search/rescue with the Sheriff's Department. I feel the same way. Some events call for 12 hour shifts that my horse must carry me and my gear. I always make sure to thank him for the work that he does. I have 5 horses total, but only one is a working mounted unit horse. I am training a second so that he doesn't have to work so hard.

  • can any type of horses do horse logging? or are the specially trained?

  • This is cool cause my family logs with horse and we do horse pulling too

  • Great Vid, also one other aspect of using horses is that it doesn't compact the earth as much as skidder. A skidder trail can damage the root systems of the trees all along the trail.

Also I love the historical aspect of this, what a great tradition.

  • This was a great video. This is the first video that has really made me feel good.

    Great Job!! THANKYOU!

  • This is way cool! We build log homes and buy logs from commercial operators. The wood is beat up its all a production thing. Started some Belgian teams to feed cattle almost long fer the days starvin on the ranch! Got a small bandsaw mill, lotta beetle kill locally, lotta work can see the need for these horses with what we do. Great video-thanks fer posting and sharing appreciate it!!!

  • It is awesome to revisit my longing for my old team again. Sonny and Doc will long be remembered and finding this on Youtube with my grandson made my day. Thank you and God bless. Cody

  • Loved the video. Horse logging is the way to go.

  • i loved this.thank you:)

  • This is fantastic. I horse log and its so relaxing. your interaction with horses and working like so many before you. yeah thats america

  • @DirtyLarkin

You are right! Fantastic. But it is not just America. We do it here as well everywhere in Europe. Again, because it is much better for the environment as well. And because the heavy Horse get´s its place back in transport and agriculture more and more. And with all respect: the horse was our partner thousend years before it was the partner of the cowboy ;-)

  • Fantastic! I really enjoyed it. I own a percheron that I rarely interact with. I would love to use him to skid some logs.

    Very nice video, well done!

  • I did some horse logging in college (it's kind of an unusual college), and loved every minute of it. If I could afford it, I'd buy a team and be a horse logger for the rest of my days. Nice video.

  • What a wonderful life! He obviously hears a different drummer on his calling in life. The peace and serenity and the honest hard work are beautiful in their own way. What is most important is the minimal effects on the forests verses modern technology techniques of logging. Kudos to this man and his family. May he have much and prosperity.

  • god this makes me love our 12 draft horses

  • I love playing with my drafts log pulling and riding and pulling carts it is fun.

  • cool

  • A couple of years ago, I repainted 36 1906 CW Parker Carousel Horses. On one of the horses I painted a small mural of a horse log team pulling logs out of the forest. I also painted the name on the hosrse. His name is "Old Logger"

  • Feels like home! I lived like this for 6 years in Sweden. Currently I live in London to make some money so that I can buy a farm of my own. Cheers!
