God sure IS building a church. The profices are unfolding. I wish my friend was on the winnning side :(~ I used to have a young man who walked and talked with me. But since he has found, I'll marry only a Christain he looks right past me.~
Absolutely love this song!!!! Found Gold City on Pandora Radio and found them on here as well. As a Pentecostal Holiness preacher, I agree with every word of this song and the entire group, especially the powerful bass singer, Tim Riley, and tenor Jay Patrick really hit home with an urgent message from God that we cannot ignore. It's a great song, but don't forget what their singing about. God is building a church to take out of this world very soon and I hope everyone who reads this check
Honestly, it's disappointing because I am a bass singer and I understand how amazing Tim Riley is, but no one gives their lead Tenor any love. He's just as impressive in his own respect as Tim. This whole group in general is absolutely amazing. Does any one have any idea of some other good songs with this bass/tenor combo that are pretty good?
Hoover4000, I have to thank you for turning me on to Gold City. It was this very song that started me listening to them a couple of years ago. Love this line up of GCQ members--especially Tim Riley. Now, I cannot stop listening to them! Can't wait to see them live when they come to Illinois! Keep the songs coming. Take care and thanks again!
Just wondering if anyone knows where I can find the lyrics to this song? Most times it is easy to find lyrics, but I can't seem to find them for this song. thanks for any help.
Hunter, Gold City used to sell a cassette with the songs from that album (including this one), but unfortunately, it is out of print. I believe you can still find accompaniment tracks for this song by other companies (not the original, but the same song at least.)
I LOVE this song, it may be my most favorite Gold City song~~this Gold City was my favorite group~~ they are all good, Jay Parrack is the absolute best!
im looking for a song too hoover. i think it is gold city. they are riding the but to taco bell and someone dont want to sound like sandi patti. sorry if thats not making sense but thats all can remember
Yeah, Im a baritone, Ive been trying to move more towards bass cause I like the bass parts better. Unfortunatley I will never be as low as Tim Riley, he is amazing.
...Not to mention the lead, Jonathan, and the barytone, Mark. They too are very gifted and talented singers....unfortunately good barytones often don't get the attention and credit they deserve
Tim retired from the group, but I think he still owns the rights to the group and occasionally performs with them. They were one of the all-time great male quartets, just behind the Cathedrals and the Statesmen and just ahead of the Stamps and the Kingsmen.

Lyrics: He's the one that I live for
I want to live my life so that others can see Him more
I want to live my life for Jesus
Crown of thorns.Cross of nails
He gave His life for me
Crucified, He didn't fail
...... I want to live my life for Jesus.

My knowledge of Gold City is quite recent
(no further back than when I entered Youtube) ... so I have no emotional attachment to any singer.
Having said that ... this is the best grouping I have seen for Gold City.
The contrast between Tenor and Bass (with the Lead/Baritone) ... ... is simply awesome ...
I would dearly love to purchase a "best of"
DVD video with this group that has:
God's Building a Church ...
In Time, On Time, Everytime ...
I'm Not Giving Up ...
