My xbox first didn't read disks then I would just tap on the top of the xbox to get it to read disks then i got the red ring then something popped up saying E74 E71 And E79 it's weird
Fortunately for you this was not the red ring of death. The RRoD is three red lights. One flashing light, combined with the error code E68 on your TV screen, states that your x-box hard-drive has experienced hardware failure. Fixing this problem is relatively simple. Turn the box off, remove the hard-drive, reattack and turn-on your 360. If this problem continues, you may need to call x-box support.

that wasn't the red ring of death, what you have is the AV cable was unplugged.
