i have a issue with this monitor, i used it for PS3 and everything was fine till about day 3 when the monitor stopped working in HDMI, it will not display any sound or video, i changed HDMI Cables, tried PS3 on another tv wroks fine but with this monitor it stopped working in HDMI, hdmi is set as default, everything was fine until day 6 when it stopped working, if anyone knows the issue and a solution please post or respond that would be appreciated, thank you.

Just used one cable to connect, Dvi. it will automatically dual screen and if you don't want that just close the laptops lid, it will go to sleep and turn it on then only your Hp display will show.

Yes i still use it and love it, the buzzing is not an issue only when the brightness is on low. this might have been fixed in the current newer models

@illibball087 I have a 2159m manufactured a year ago (April 2009) and the backlight sound is a mid-pitch tone, not a buzz. I'm sensitive to sounds and often have no music playing, but this hasn't bothered me all winter (had it for 6 months). I've heard other LCDs that do have a true buzzing sound, which I think would be more annoying.

saw it it at best buy earlier, has DVI, AVG and HDMI inputs, the PS3 has RCA and HDMI outputs,, sorry to say but the highest the xbox 360 can render is 720p, it doesn't have an HDMI output, just s-Video and RCA

and with most pc's they ship defaultly with a VGA port, but most newer add-on GPU's (Graphics Processing Unit) have outputs in VGA, DVI, s-Video or HDMI

Ok, I've made some research, and that monitor DOES indeed have an overscan problem but I've found a model that might work

this was a must have to connect to my macbook pro, the fact that it is a fantastic screen for the price, 1080HD, and one of the few monitors available with a gloss finish... great monitor, very happy with it, a very good budget option if you don't want to fork out for the Apple Cinema Display (even has the same colours as the macs)

no, I just plugged everything in and turned on the monitor, then went to sys prefs and set it all up how I wanted to, changed the wallpaper and off I went :) the best thing about a mac is it just talks to pretty much anything

No external speakers required. HP 2309m monitor in-built speaker sounds damn good. Just choose your audio/video channel as HDMI in PS3 and use HDMI cable - thats enough to get you onboard.

i finally got the monitor, but i have one problem. i got it hooked up to my PC via VGA and to my PS3 trough the HDMI and evrything is cool, until i run a game. the sound in some games is low but still not a big problem, but with some other games the volume is very very low. any ideas abaout what maight be happening?? thanks for any help you can give me (and sorry for the bad english xD)

I had the same problem, maybe the game setting are different. I use Hdmi only for video and the audio/video cables that come with the ps3 i use for sound trough my speakers. you only need a female rca to a female 3.5mm jack cable adapter.. then only connect both white and red audio to the adapter the your speaker 3.5mm jack into the adapters female connection.

I'm thinking of getting the exact same screen. And sometime later I'm getting a Unibody 15" MackBook Pro.. I just had a question- what would you suggest for the MacBook, the matte option or just the glossy? I really dislike the silver frame of the matte screens.

Well i own a glossy and thinks for regular user glossy is better because all the colors pop out and movies look better, i have not issues with glare so im fine, i also dont like the silver frame.. just so you know the matte screens have no glass.

Yes HDMI will be the best choice but Dvi-D isnt bad at all, im using it. But you can get an Hdmi cable for about $4 at monoprice. i bought a lot of cables from them and they are very high quality! enjoy.

oh yes it almost identical but because these are two types of screen i.e the macs screen is LED and the Hp's isnt so you will see a minor color difference but nothing major. both displays have great colors. play with the contrast on the hp and put the sharpness to 5 too.

you need a mini display port to dvi-d adapter to connect your (unibody) mac to the display, for sound you need a audio red and white rgb female to 3.55m audio jack female adapter, then you can use the rgb cables that came with your ps3 for audio only not video.
