  • how come aaron pryor didnt fight hearns, duran, leaonard or hagler?

  • Haha nice highlight, even though it'S all scenes from Pryor Arguello Legendary Nights (a must SEE if you're a hawk fan or a fan of the explosive thin man). Well done. Thumbed up for you/the vid.

  • @k4n31985 Thank you very much.

  • No defense. Got lucky way too much.. hearns at welter would have destroyed him. And Roberto Duran would have put him in the hospital at Light or welter...

  • @drummerbadass1 He had a good defense with the angles he took. NOBODY gets lucky that much. You think he didnt know what he was doing???

  • Who was the guy that Pryor uppercut at 0:38 ? Pryor was a freaking animal, like a Joe Frazier on crack.

  • @UndeadFool I think its Julio Valdez

  • man im from ohio, IM TELLIN YOU PEOPLE IT WASENT TO MANY FIGHTERS FUCKIN WIT PRYOR PERIOD. THEY WERE SCARED. THE ONLY FIGHTERS WHO STEPPED IN THE RING WIT EM WERE THE STUPID ONE'S WHO GOT SMASHED. ALL THE FIGHTERS WIT COMMON SENSE NEVER FOUGHT PRYOR AND FOR THAT THEY WERE WORLD CHAMPION FOR THERE SMART CHOICES, OR THE CHOICES MADE BY THERE TRAINERS(LEONARD)....AND MANY OTHER FIGHTERS AS WELL. BUT IF SOME FIGHTERS WERE TO HAVE RAN INTO PRYOR IN THOSE DAYS. THEY WOULD OF NEVER HAVE BEEN CHAMPION

  • Aaron Pryor vs Roberto Duran or Marvin Hagler would've been spectacular.

  • @TeeZaNator why do you think duran moved to welter. not that duran was scared, he just didnt need the trouble, and probable loss, for peanuts. junior welter was not gold and glory like it is now.

  • If Pryor connects with the overhand right against Mayweather the same way Moseley did in the second round of their fight, their is no way in hell Mayweather survives.

  • @cainepittman2:

I agree with you, most people don't realize just how bad ass Aaron Pryor truly was..he is largely overlooked by the general boxing community when the talk turns to "greatest of all time" in the Jr. Welterweights.

Think of a stronger more durable version of Shane Moseley with twice the punching power, that's basically who Aaron Pryor was, not quite as fast as Shane but a much more devastating puncher.

  • leonard's a bitch! pryor woulda dropped him like a bad habit!

  • He looks a bit like a mini-Apollo Creed, haha.

  • Pryor is a great example that boxing without clinches would be far more exciting.

  • Pac throws punches like a little buzzsaw. Pryor's got more science to him. You can see it in his head movement

  • I'll bet anything Panama Louis did ALOT more cheating with his fighters than the black bottle, and the Luis Resto gloves

  • @Chunklake AMEN BROTHER!

  • @Chunklake your comment means nothing. pryor is a 'could have been' impressive to watch and a great, but never will he be on the list of all-time greats period. he was never tested because he was a substance abuser 1st, fighter 2nd. he swarmed his opponents. i loved his style, fighting off the balls of his feet but ur comment is full of 'only because' & 'if it were not for this'. this is like ppl saying tyson was the greatest hvy if he hadnt went to prison. the fact: he f'd his career up..

  • @Chunklake with his chin in the air like that i doubt that he would beat pacquiao. just because this guy is from an earlier era doesn't mean he's better. i'm not saying he's not great. valero had 27 fights 27 wins and 27 ko's. does that make him greater than pacquiao? no. pacquiao has more ko's than mayweather does that make him better. no. i like pacquiao better than floyd but ko's have nothing to do with it. it's style and pac's is better. if pryor was so great, he wouldn't have done cocaine.

  • @Chunklake I would have loved to seem him fight Roberto Duran, or in a complete dream fight Henry Armstrong. I heard in an interview that Panama Lewis refused to train him and begged him not to fight Roberto Duran but that would have been a real classic. Also I don't think the comparisons of Manny to Pryor are out of the question. Both are serious pressure fighters but Pryor was the better boxer. I do like Manny though, but some of his fans really make me sick of him

  • @Chunklake Another hypo. Prime Pryor vs A Prime Pernell Whitikar. Offensive Wrecking Ball vs Defensive Genius. Your thoughts? I'll be honest depending on what day it is I could see this going either way. And on a side note, the reason we don't see fighters like Pryor anymore (IMO) is lack of a real US amatuer program. Pryor, Leonard, Hearns etc all had over 100 if not 200 amatuer fights all over the world b/f going pro. For whatever reason that doesnt exist anymore

  • @Chunklake I love Pryor a lot and I have him beating Pacman easily in a fantasy fight, but I still think someone like Floyd would frustrate him. It would be interesting to see if his boxing could stand up to Floyd's. He would have to fight like he did in the Arguello fight, but it would be a hell of a fight.

  • @mrsatangto He would beat floyd I think for sure Mayweather struggled with Hatton pressure Pryor would have been way faster hit harder than hatton and had way more stanima and a way better chin and threw more punches

  • @Chunklake

    pryor is soooooo intense

i wish we had fighters like him today........

  • @Chunklake Yeah, just like leonard moved up,Pryor was terrified of Tommy hearns.he knew hearns would have mauled him at 145lbs

  • @fadethetrade

Hearns had no chin and couldn't stand pressure fighters, Pryor whooped him easily in the amateurs, but I agree Hearns would of beat him at welterweight!

  • @Chunklake you complete twat say leonard feared so he moved up lol pryror a weight lower than leonard all through there careers even as amateurs lol well guess what leonard had eye and cocaine problems form 1982 to 1987 but leonard still beat hagler what happened when pryor came back we know he was put on queer street by bobby joe young lol leonard would have dropped and he would have stayed down period

  • @sweetassugar69

Are you a retard? Leonard started his career at 140lbs and so did Pryor. Pryor whooped Hearns ass in the amateurs and Leonard wanted nothing to do with him. Pryor begged and begged Leonard in all the press conferences for the fight, but Leonard didn't want it. Pryor was fucked from the cocaine and he was inactive for almost three years when he lost to Bobby Young. He beat Arguello easily, so he would of whooped Bobby. Everybody knows Leonard ducked him, and he lost to Hagler!!

  • @Chunklake Leonard Offered Pryor the fight, Pryor declined cause he wanted more money.

  • @Chunklake I think that title belongs to JC Chavez

  • @Chunklake seriously these fucking pactards are on EVERY SINGLE BOXING video spouting their gay love for Manny. It's SICKENING.

  • ghetto gospel by tupac

  • What's the title of the song?PLeaseeee

  • great video. i loved pryor. seen him fight in cincinnati. thanks for the vid.

  • @buckeyebunnyhunter Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it.

  • @uglybabashouse2 Best Hawk video on YouTube b/c you picked an appropriate song to go along with it

  • I bet there's holes all over his bedroom floor from his giant pair of steel nuts crashing to the ground every time he changes pants

  • I love that punch he takes at 1:50. He should be dead haha.

  • how come theres no arron pryor in the fight night games?anyone..

  • clearly 1 of the greatest fighters of all time..easily in the top 5 imo..too much fitness and power!

  • aaron was jacked from the 1st round

....he would swarm the apponent ... yes i see manny using his style...

  • this was the boxer i was named after :) thats how i got my first name :D

  • It's like pacman of older times. they both throw alot of puches

  • “The last fighter I saw who fought like Manny Pacquiao was Hall of Famer Aaron Pryor,” Naazim Richardson said. “The reason I compare the two is that Aaron Pryor was an all-action fighter,”

  • What an absolute dynamo.. I named my son after him.

It'll always be HAWKTIME in my house.

  • DAMMMMNNNN! 1:01-1:06 is F-ing amazing! Aaron Pryor just gets right back up and comes back with such a vengeance! He's like the African American version of Julio Cesar Chavez!

  • Man he was mean! far out! I really like Arguello too

  • Can somebody tell me exactly what Pryor is saying at the podium with Leonard? I can only make out some of it. What a legend.

  • @eebsy Before the podium: "I wanna fight leonard because I feel like I'm the king of the junior welterweights"

    at the podium:

Pryor: "I worked with him three or four years before he became mr. Leonard" "I just beat the nr.1 contender in my weight division I aint got nothing to prove there"

    Leonard: "This is my show"

Pryor: "I want a fight, I beat Tommy Hearns"

    Leonard: "Any other questions please?"

I believ I allmost got everything in there. I did this ages ago.

  • @uglybabashouse2 Thanks, mate. I never knew he beat Tommy Hearns. I looked it up. It's funny to think that the people there watching that day would have no idea that they were watching two future legends.

  • @uglybabashouse2 Boxer's back then fighting for their legacy while today's fighter just fighting for the money (floyd jr).

  • Avoided by mancini, camacho, leonard, duran...

  • @MegaDarryl1960 Actually Not Duran. At the time Duran fought Cervatnes in about 78 or 79 moving up in weight. Aaron would knockout cervantes a year or two later for the Junior Welterweight title but by that time Roberto duran moved up in weight. You have to understand Pryor had only like 12 fights to his name and was only a prospect, not considered ready for Duran, no one on his resume of any real caliber. Pryor wasn't even a somebody at the time, and Duran was busy fighting Leonard.

  • Epic power/moustache! Something about him reminds me of Apollo Creed too ...

  • who wins, pryor or chavez?

  • @fsaari1985 Oh man such a beautiful match this would have been. I'm Mexican, but Aaron Pryor is one of my favorite f-ing fighters, and he definitely has the Mexican fighting style. I have thought about this so much, and I came to the conclusion that Chavez would win because of his body punches prevailing for him. Now, I don't want you to think I'm biased, but I'll tell you why I picked Chavez.

Aaron Pryor had an iron chin, but when he swarmed his opponents and landed those devastating power

  • @fsaari1985 punches, he had a really nasty tenancy to leave himself wide open. You CAN NOT do those kind of bad habits against someone like Chavez. JCC was a master brawler and depended on those type of tiny mistakes his opponents would make so he can land his brutal left hook to the body. I also can't see Chavez knocking out Pryor, but like I said, the body shots would really ware him down and have him slow down in the 10th round to the 12th. This is a fight that Chavez would win on points.

  • Aaron Pryor: One of the greatest and most underrated boxers of all time!

This is coming from a Mexican.

  • Pryor and Pacquiao have similar styles they both throw a lot of punches(swarmers)

  • AARON PRYOR WAS A CHEATER FUCKING SCAM ARTIST TAKING SPECIAL WATER IN THE ALEXIS ARGUELLO FIGHT FUCKING FRAUD

  • @ANTPHRESSH89 The Hawk kicked Arguello's ass in the rematch in 10 rds...WITH NO SUBSTANCES. Panama Lewis was the crook, not Pryor.

  • @ANTPHRESSH89 Lol you're an idiot. You really think if it contained anything suspicious he would have passed the post-fight drug test? Obviously not. Also he drank it nearing the end of the fight - whether he had drank it or not he would have won on points. And wtf is "special water" lmao!

  • and great vid man

  • @EvanderHolyfield7 Thanks alot bro

  • Aaron Pryor was ahead in the first fight with Arguello so he would still win on points

  • @EvanderHolyfield7

great name you have. evander was on of the toughest fighters ever. Pryor would beat pacquiao at least 8 times out of ten

  • @acbrutality Man i agree ! Pryor would beat Manny up.

  • I like that guy's style- kinda like Manny Pacquiao's.

  • @beast28274 except he didn't make his career by fighting weight drained damaged goods at catch weight.

  • a gentle monster, great fighter... God bless

  • how can some people compare duran and pryor it is outrageous.

duran is a legend he fought some of the best fighters ever and in total wars.jho can you compare them to aaron pryor and we all know about panama lewis methods some of them were illegal handwraps, amphetamines for better breathing and he used to pulling out the stuff out of the gloves before the fight(luis rest).

  • There's only one punch that can down this hawk.... "FALCON-PUNCH!"

  • Hawk Time!

  • Best and most exciting fighter i ever seen

    MONSTER

  • Look it up on Google. Pryor was offered 650,000 to fight SRL and turned it down because he wanted more money. Also they never could have fought because Ray would have made him get tested.

Pryor is a PHONY...because he was taking illegal substances. Once he was off he got knocked out by Bobby Joe Young. Keep in mind Pryor was only 29 years old at the time. First fight at welterweight....KOd

  • sadly pryor like whitaker went into hard drugs ( crack / cocaine ). Once you enter

this way your carrer in done most of the time. The famous Panama Lewis bottle

is something we'll never know if true or not. I guess Pryor remains on the greatest

of all time at light welterweight and one of the fastest guy in boxing with leonard, whitaker

    and mayweather.

  • So you can't compare Duran and Pryor. Duran could apply pressure, yet still make you miss and counterpunch at the same time. He wasn't using his FACE as his defense. Later rounds of the first fight SRL begin to get better seperation and started nailing Duran. Also keep in mind...Body shots count. Thats how Ray got back in the fight.

Aaron Pryor's defense is to TAKE PUNCHES and keep coming. Not gonna work at 147. Ray did not avoid Pryor. Aaron was offered 600,000 to fight Ray

  • Wrong. Duran beat SRL by 1 point in the first fight. Watch the fight again. Duran started strong and Ray finished strong late. Getting someone on the ropes does not mean you are landing the solid punches. Ray won the 2nd half of the first Duran fight which is why Duran won by 1 point. Freddy Pachecko had it even going in to the 15th round in which Ray won.

Also Duran was a much better defensive fighter than Aaron Pryor.

  • Pryor is like Bruce Lee. A overated myth. He would beat Leonard? Yea right. Look at his defense? Now imagine moving up 7 more pounds against a fighter with speed and power at 147? Lets keep in mind Alexis Arguello was a formerf featherweight and Pryor took forever to finish him late. It wasn't a early stoppage, it was a war.

Pryors style of taking punches and keep in coming...worked at 140, but he would have got knocked out at 147 using that style

  • @bscottdp Young Leonard moved up in weight during amateurs to AVOID the amateur Pryor. Could Arron Pryor Beat Leonard. There's a possibility. Could Leonard beat him, odds are on his side. Pryor WOuld've given Leonard hell even if he lost. Hell Duran was a lightweight and took the fight to young Leonard and whooped

Sugar like he was his daddy

  • mannnnnn richard pryors brother was a hard bastard lol

  • Aaron pryor was not just a brawling thug. The man could box; a good example is the manner in which he out boxed Alexis Arguello. He employed lateral movement giving Arguello angles and depriving arguello of oppertunities to hit him back. You don't defend your title ten times by just being an unintelligent thug. As for the black bottle, it made zeroe difference in the fight's outcome this was demonstrated in thier re-match where Pryor broke Alexis physically and mentally.

  • After watching this AGAIN!!!!(Its addictive!!)........Pryor vs Hearns?? Helluva mouthwatering contest!!! Pryor by late rounds stoppage??

Pryor vs Hagler...Hagler too strong,Late rounds stoppage..

Pryor vs Duran???? I wouldve loved to have seen that!!!!! Draw on Points???

Pryor vs Leonard??? Pryor on Points I reckon.......Just a Pity they did'nt happen.........what does everyone else think???

  • @geordierusso

Pryor vs hearns ..hearns ko: 80's hearns was too strong for pryor and much improved from the 17yr old kid pryor beat.

Pryor vs Hagler.......Hagler too strong, late round stoppage

Pryor vs Duran....depends 70's motivated duran ko win, 80's undisciplined duran close fight

Pryor vs Leonard. Please! Leonard wins ko. Leonard took Hearns\ Duran punch and pryor could barely ko aging former featherweight arguello

Pryor IS great but the elites would all take him.

  • Would Aaron Pryor wins over Julio Cesar Chavez at the 140 pounds??? They are the best all time in this weight together Kostya Tszyu!

  • pryor's overrated and cheated against arguello

  • I COULDN'T RESPECT LEONARD FULLY, BECAUSE HE WOULDN'T FIGHT THE HAWK

  • @PhillyGregA Leonard admits right here that ducked Pryor...

  • @onlyjoetee

If Leonard ducked pryor then so did Hearns, benitez and Duran. The fact is Aaron pryor became a 'big name' only after the two alexi arguello fights and by that time it was 1983 and Leonard was retired due to a torn retina.

The sugar ray leonard who had the two great fights with duran would have made pryor look silly and i`m saying this as a big aaron pryor fan.

  • @SirHappyThe1st Sugar Ray Leonard Himself ADMITTED to ducking Pryor !!!!!LOL

  • "Sugar Ray Leonard Himself ADMITTED to ducking Pryor" ( quote onlyjoetee )

Show me the proof because i would like to see it.

  • @onlyjoetee How did Ray duck him. When Ray offered him the fight it was Pryor who rejected it.

  • @PhillyGregA

    Rubbish

  • what was the song after ghetto gospel?

  • Aaron would be a great brutal battles with the big 4 of the 80's Roberto Duran.Marvin Hagler,Tommy Herns. Sugar Ray Leonard too bad many of them were scared he beat tommy when they were teenagers

  • Aaron would be a great brutal battles with the big 4 of the 80's Robert Duran.Marvin Hagler,Tommy Herns. Sugar Ray Leonard too bad many of them were scared he beat tommy when they were teenagers

  • Aaron Pryor??..a great that could have been GREATER..powerful fighter

  • he seems to fight stoned.

  • people you are seeing the first Pacman

  • AARON PRYOR WOULD HAVE KILLED SUGAR RAY LENOARD, RAY WOULD NEVER GIVE HIM A FIGHT

  • please name the song

  • @01miandu Tupac feat. Elto John - Ghetto gospel

  • @uglybabashouse2 thank you !

  • @uglybabashouse2 Thank you

  • Greatest of all time. Period.

  • @kingjojo14 hmm bold statement, certainly top 20.

  • HA against that kind of pressure from anyone........you better be on your A game.

  • CUANDO SUBEN LA PELEA ENTRE AARON PRYOR Y BOBBY JOE YOUNG........???

  • thugariffic

  • LOL leonard doesn't want to fight him.

  • A True Great

  • the hawk..... could beat anybody, niggas was shook of the hawk, every fighter from the 80's that are legends now like leonard, hearns etc. them niggas knew.

and it is sad cause people never really talk about aaron pryor in the light that he deserves. WHAT TIME IS IT, HAWK TIME. THAT IS WHERE CAMACHO GOT HIS SHIT FROM. MACHO TIME. LAME.

  • @RAREFORM100 Hell yeah dawg. all them cats knew they would be dealing with a totally different animal in pryor. hearns got his ass whipped in the amateurs so he didn't want it. leonard got his ass whipped during sparring sessions so he didn't want it either!

  • My favorite Boxer ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent video, sounds and editing, too. The part about Arguello getting battered was a bit depressing since we all know what's happened to the man now. One question tho: what was that black bottle that halted Pryor all about?

  • @caguioaness Thank you very much, and I don't know I don't think they ever found out.

  • @uglybabashouse2 He was cheating. It was an amphetamine based asthma medication.

  • @caguioaness The black bottle refers to Pryor's trainer Panama Lewis possibly feeding Pryor spiked water, referring to the bottle he "mixed", which is of course illegal. Pryor then responded with vastly increased energy levels in the final rounds to turn the tide and stop Arguello. Post-fight drug testing was not carried out due to the brand new Florida athletic Commission not having at post-fight structure in place.

  • @caguioaness

panama said it was perrier mixed with tap water; resto said in a documentary that panama probably broke asthma medication pills into it that let aaron breathe better in the later rounds...

whatever the case was in the first fight, pryor beat arguello fair and square the second time round... both warriors deserve respect and RIP arguello, he will be missed.

  • @caguioaness it was a bottle that his trainer had next to the water bottle ,and his trainer was making him drink that instead of water during certain rounds ,it was like a energy drink but red bulls an wat not werent around them days so it was a big thing ,and ur still only aloud to drink water now ,but it was also never proven

  • @caguioaness there was doc that came out on HBO about the infamous hand wrapping fight b/w louie resto and Billy Conn where Panama Lewis stripped the stuffing out of Restos gloves and used plaster to wrap his fighter hands. Resto was a Panama lewis trained fighter (like Pryor) and in the interview Resto said that Panama would mix the water with primatine mist( medicine given to asthmatics to help them breath).

  • @caguioaness LA DROGA MI HERMANO PRYOR SIENDO UN GRAN BOXEADOR LE GANO A ARGUELLO DROGADO.........

  • WOW! This guy is like a refined Manny Pacquiao with more power!

  • HOW THE HELL DID ARQUREO GO DOWN.

  • Comment removed

  • i love this guy !! why couldn't he have just said NO !!!! would have loved to see him in against Lenord ,Duran or Benitez

  • How good would it have been to see this Extremely outragiously talented fighter face up to Sugar Ray Leonard and Thomas Hearns?????? Would've been Good!!!

  • @geordierusso

He prolly would have whooped their asses..those two fighters wanted nothing to do with Hawk

  • @015Froggy Did he retire undefeated?

  • @vinniedurrant No, he lost by a 7th round TKO to Bobby Joe Young.

  • @vinniedurrant

who gives a shit about retiring undefeated..you can fight BUMS and stay undefeated..there's a lot of boxers that retired undefeated and most boxing fans only know of one..Rocky Marciano and nobody else..and a lot of boxing fans thought he was overrated..it's all about how you fight..and this man takes your best shots and whoops your ass all over that ring..that's heart, determination, warrior mentality..this man was born to fight

  • @015Froggy Great, but you told me nothing I didn't know already.

  • @vinniedurrant

ah..just layin' the truth..i think i might have interpreted your message wrong..sorry bro..keep boxin' alive

  • IT STILL IS HAWK TIME!!!1

  • thanx for the memories aaron.you were the best!

  • one of if not the most underrated boxer EVER!

  • @OTKP Yeah, and also one of the most avoided

  • @OTKP easily and was hell on wheels!
