ROFL!!! Kitten Chaos!! I love it!! Those little ones are terrors, and they move faster than I can think. Feeding time is a riot! It's like feeding a whole zoo, all at once.
elsewhere in these comments over the years people have posted that Japanese cats often have these shortened tails. it's in the genetic mix. perhaps someone can elaborate.
Japan has a native breed of cat, the Japanese Bob. It has a short (2 inches) kinky tail. I estimate that Elizabeth has some Japanese Bob in her lineage, and has just passed this along to her kids. Perfectly normal and healthy.
so sad to hear about chiro's sickness, hope she is not in too much pain. 16 cat years is probably like 80 human years, she still looks very regal and beautiful.
the kitties are growing up so fast, little black nose is full of mischief. In the scene where all the cats are waiting to be feed, Luna stood out from the crowd - she is so pretty.
The wild bunch! Nine minutes and 28 seconds worth of smiles and laughter. So sorry to hear about Chiro's illness. Is there hope? Also Miyara, I think you are weaning us too by posting your videos further apart. I enjoy your photos on Flickr also . Much love and success in future.
Super lovely! Nice to see Luna's kittens playing with older brothers. The little black nose is full of mischief, flipping over a food tray. And the meal time is tremendous. Isn't Elizabeth smart for getting some appetizer on the counter?
I am very sorry to hear Chiro is not feeling well due to kidney failure. Wishing her a recovery. I really love her pose and beauty.
This is disturbing. I hadn't heard either, and I can't read Miyara's blog because I can't find it in English. But kidney failure is NOT good. I do wish her recovery. She IS a beautiful lady.
OK folks, here is the translation of entire texts from Mr. A's blog:
"Chiro, who was not on recent videos, is actually not doing well. It seems her kidneys are weakened due to her age and, although she was taken to vet, has lost lots of weight.
Therefore, we let her spend quiet time in the Japanese room (the one with tatami mats) where frisky kittens are off limits." (continued)
"I want to shoot her video again when she gets better. However, a kidney problem is difficult to cure, we have to take time and continue treatment."
When you open his blog you will immediately see Chiro's picture, followed by additional comments: "It was taken back in June as she is too thin and looks painful now."
Please, are they giving Chiro fluids under the skin? This is almost the only thing that will flush out the waste that her kidneys can't. It will improve her appetite as well and she will feel better as well. I am sure that when she went to the vet tath they did this, but it must be maintained now, probably every day or two, depending on how she is doing. Also there are special diets for older cats with weak kidneys, the vet probably has Chiro on that.
Yes, the fluid under the skin is a neat trick. I just read about it on Wiki- "Cats with kidney failure can sometimes be extended for years by the regular injection of large volumes of fluid subcutaneously, which serves as an alternative to dialysis."
Look, I don't know you, but i have been following his family for quite a while. I KNOW he loves his animals and gives them good care. That being said, i have known cat owners and vets who have not used the fluids on a daily or every day basis. I mentioned it because i care. So YOU don't have to worry about me making kind and caring suggestions or asking questions. Kidney failure is one of the most painful ways to die. Many cats die of renal disease through lack of agressive treatment.
I agree with you. I wish I could have a friend who cares like you. Mr A is a great person and I love his videos and animals too. It is so sad you don't realize the animal abuse in Mr R. Norton home, though
You are so good to your cats. It's heart warming. :)

No, their beautiful Mom Luna also has a shortish kinky tail. It just comes with the short tail! I had a cat like that and they are perfectly healthy.

What?!! Chiro had kidney failure? Where did you read this? Any more info about this somewhere? How old is she?
macess101 3 years ago
Miyara wrote it on his blog.
Chiro is 16 years old. Miyara says she is skinny now and living in another (quiet) room apart from the kittens...

You can use Google Translate to translate from japanese to english, it might help a little to understand what's been said in the blog.

I do that on Babel. It only helps a little because apparently the intonations of their words give much of the meaning.
