I remember watching the first time Mark went out on stage, dedicating his late grandfather. Whether we live in Australia, USA or Europe or Latin America... maybe we're all on the lead edge of a new appreciation for the classics after decades of rock, heavy metal, hip-hop and rap. We're really all on the same side.. so there's no need to preach to the choir! :-)

The unfortunate thing is that the operatic-pop or classic-crossover genre doesn't get the full respect it deserves. You've got Gaga and Bieber who get the attention, when it's IL DIVO, IL VOLO and Mark that really deserve the adulation... which they get, but not on a scale related to their talent....
WOW Where is all this phinominal talent coming from? They just seem to appear out of nowhere. We see and hear dozens of profissional, seasoned voices that just appear on the stages around the world. So many of the "greats" have passed on...and it's like they have sent these wonderful people to take up where they left off. Great music and all these magnificant voices will make it live on.
Very nice. I did see just one flaw in it though, try to sing more like a tenor would, even if you are a baritone. It's a bit dark sounding to me so try to lighten the tone up just a bit. Overall, VERY good job :)

What sets IL VOLO apart is that Mark has the Gianluca Ginoble role (Baritone with a powerful upper range)... but Mark is missing a Piero and Ignazio to round out the songs and make them even more majestic and uplifting!
The irony is that Mark and IL VOLO are of the same age and generally sing similar repetoires... although Mark may favor Opera more than Operatic-Pop. Very nice guy though!

Voices are smoother and more pleasant to the ear. But Mark will probably have a good career in Australia. As you said IL volo has the three voices that together are sensational and can't be matched. Even IL Divo isn't as good, at least in my opinion. However, I like them all and they are changing the taste in music.

This singing challenges the assumption that someone can only sound like 'an opera singer' when they are 30. The voice does not radically change. It's just a matter of knowing how to shape the vocal appparatus. Of course the voice matures and for that, young singers should be careful with high notes. But the 'low' opera voice is not exclusive to fully mature opera singers.
It is not only that he is a barritone, he just has this smooth quality to his voice. A real harmonial purity that is so easy on the ear. You just want to hear more.

if u listen the pavarotti version of nessun dorma to mark's u hear that mark sings in a lower key. He is a first Baritone which means he has some tenor range and voice qualities but he has mostly a darker tone to his voice. He will most likely develop into a tenor in the future.

i think that was a bit harsh but to some extent, he does have a point. This guy is good for his age but he keeps doing what a classical/opera singer should never do which is lower the larynx to make you sound 30 years older than you are. It is incredibly damaging and it's a habit that's hard to get rid of. It will also completely use up the voice very quickly.

This guy is like a lump of coal. He will eventually turn into a diamond, I assure you. A year from now (12/09/09), he will be a household name. I would refer to him as a Luciano Pavoretti, Jr. I know that Luciano would love to hear him sing! I certainly do!
I don't pretend to know opera or be a great judge of singing, but it takes no such skill to know this is special. If he can sing like this at 15, then I cannot even imagine what he will be able to do by the time he's 25 or 30...

OMG He has such a matured voice for his age. I think sometimes what you go through in life makes you or brake you and it made him, for his voice has all the strength and the lessons of life that made him who he is today. He survived it all and an angel was born. This voice will be the biggest think on this earth. I raised two granddaughters from infancy and finally adopted them 4 years ago. One is 15 and one is 16 now. I'm proud of both no matter their accomplishments, but I'm sure Vincent's grandpa would be super proud of his grandson. Pure and simple, a gifted voice. Being raised by grandparents is a joy. I can see his grandpa did a great job of raising him.
I love opera and waiting till his CDs become available.

I have listened to opera for 50 years including the 3 biggies and thousands more, I am so happy God let me live long enough to hear the voice of an angel sing. Mark's tone and delivery is perfect. Truely amazing, what a wonderful blessing for us all. Don't ever change your tone or delivery Mark, it cannot get better this side of heaven. This voice is a miracle. I can't listen to it without weeping. I saw the video about the trip to Italy in which a professor at the Milan Conservatory basically said Mark is too young to be singing Nessun Dorma. Well, all I cay say is that if it makes me weep to listen to it, he's ready. He's ready to give concerts right now and the public will be willing to book tickets for them months in advance. I do hope there will be an American tour in the next couple of years!

absolutely stunning voice...what pitch and depth he has, it gives me the chills to listen to him..esp. when he hits the high notes....he is really a talented singer and sure to go far in his career...
and what a remarkable mature young man he is for his age...he's overcome alot and i'm quite sure his grandfather is smiling down on him now !!...

i think that was a bit harsh but to some extent, he does have a point. This guy is good for his age but he keeps doing what a classical/opera singer should never do which is lower the larynx to make you sound 30 years older than you are. It is incredibly damaging and it's a habit that's hard to get rid of. It will also completely use up the voice very quickly.

Amazing voice. I hope to see more of this young man. It is nice to see a purely nice and kind young person actually making it. I have been in th eopera world for a long time and it is always a fight to keep positive and happy. Mark, keep smiling and know you have a gorgeous instrument. Hello All, thanks to my old Australian friend I have had access to listening to Mark and his singing - it is mindboggling to hear such a massive musical instrument in a young body. This guy is like a lump of coal. He will eventually turn into a diamond, I assure you. A year from now (12/09/09), he will be a household name. I would refer to him as a Luciano Pavoretti, Jr. I know that Luciano would love to hear him sing! I certainly do!

OMG He has such a matured voice for his age. I think sometimes what you go through in life makes you or brake you and it made him, for his voice has all the strength and the lessons of life that made him who he is today. He survived it all and an angel was born. This voice will be the biggest think on this earth. I raised two granddaughters from infancy and finally adopted them 4 years ago. One is 15 and one is 16 now. I'm proud of both no matter their accomplishments, but I'm sure Vincent's grandpa would be super proud of his grandson. Pure and simple, a gifted voice. Being raised by grandparents is a joy. I can see his grandpa did a great job of raising him.
I love opera and waiting till his CDs become available.

I have listened to opera for 50 years including the 3 biggies and thousands more, I am so happy God let me live long enough to hear the voice of an angel sing. Mark's tone and delivery is perfect. Truely amazing, what a wonderful blessing for us all. Don't ever change your tone or delivery Mark, it cannot get better this side of heaven. This voice is a miracle. I can't listen to it without weeping. I saw the video about the trip to Italy in which a professor at the Milan Conservatory basically said Mark is too young to be singing Nessun Dorma. Well, all I cay say is that if it makes me weep to listen to it, he's ready. He's ready to give concerts right now and the public will be willing to book tickets for them months in advance. I do hope there will be an American tour in the next couple of years!
