  • but in 1989 the transmission was full manual or semi-automatic?

  • @dkdadlh Only the Ferrari in 1989 had a semi-automatic gearbox. The rest all had manual gearboxes.

  • senna & schumacher,, both gods of their time,, its a real shame senna's life was cut so short,,, we never really got a proper chance to compare these guys in equal cars on the same track,, to me they are both heros who we should not try to compare

  • Schumacher is the best... people only give facts about Senna around but let's face it, he was turned into a godlike man because he died and this is coming from man who watched Senna and can say that Senna is one of the all time best. Schumacher went in Ferrari when Ferrari was a full crap and with his skills he turned Ferrari into what Ferrari was while Schumi was there. MSC also was a drove a manual-shiftting car in his early days and proved his talent in 92 and 93. In 94 he was a champ.

  • Michael Schumacher by shifting by butterflies

    Ayrton Senna by exchange

  • Imagine all the f F1 champions with the same car,In wich one you bet your money?????

    Answer: SENNA

  • Any doubts that Senna was the best?

  • Comment removed

  • Senna has no downforce and is shifting with one hand!!! Can u imagine steering one handed at these speeds. Senna had 65 poles in just 162 races to MS's 68 poles in 250 races ...plus Senna had Prost to contend while MS had little competition. Senna was the greatest ever by far!

  • @7Ragingbull rofl. Omg, Senna fanboys are so noobs. In 89 they had much less restrictions in aerodynamics than in 99.

  • shummi was great but senna was TH KING of F1 ever..RESPECT

  • 10 years of technology and development cannot replace pure skill

  • @kirmy1 lol. 88 Mclaren had much better engine, slick tires(maybe even qualifying tires, I don't know about 89 but they sure had it in 90,91) and more downforce because of less restrictions by FIA.

1999 cars only had eletronic improvements such as semi-automatic gears, Traction Control and etc

  • @arturcraft2 i cant actually tell if your trolling or just an idiot, the engine couldnt have been better in 1989 than in 1999 with 10 years of engine development schumachers engine had 90hp more than senna, sennas car was a lot heavier and he had a manual gearbox. Go and troll somewhere else you prick

  • @kirmy1 Me a prick? lol. I can't help if you are a retarded. In 1989 the cars weighted 500kgs without driver and in 1999 it was 595kgs with driver. The lap times of Senna era were much better in Suzuka than the 98-99 cars because back than they used SLICK QUALIFYING TIRES, had more freedom in aero and the Honda engine was a beast. Berger's pole in 91 stood for a long time untill 2000 or 2001 because the cars were better back then, too bad it was Senna's team mate who was the fastest. lol

  • every one says senna this the best because schumacher had a better car... what about the other 20 drivers in schumis his times? All better cars... so who are we to say that schumi or senna is the best? You just cant compare it.

  • Both of these guys (had) have same attitude towards racing - WINNING thts wht matters. Sanne and Shumi had similar aggression, enthu and shrewdness towards racing and winning. U can say Senna = Shumi in all the aspect. The onlything diffrenciate thm is... Shumi is bit soft and very very political while handling Media.....

  • What about downforce? Imagine a 1000hp car with a little to none downforce compared to nowadays cars. Senna all the way. Schumacher is a Fantastic driver, but with the car he had at his time.

  • @jbaeumle They had much less downforce in 99. In 89 there was much less aero restrictions. I once read that before Senna's death, F1 cars had about 4000lbs of downforce at 165mph, and 1998 cars had only 3000lbs at the same speed. Which means you don't even know what you're talking about

  • Senna >>>>>> Prost > Schum

  • @xandilm rofl. Senna could barely beat Hakkinen in qualifyings

  • Senna...the best!!!

  • Wow 1999's Shummy's Ferarri shakes a LOT less than 89's Senna's Mc. Tigh racing line from Shummy though, very good!

  • That's amazing. Technology advances in 10 years, automatic gearbox, traction control....still couldn't be faster than Senna. The best!!!!

  • @comlax22 they didnt have traction control and automatic gearboxes in 1999. Instead traction control was used untill the mid 90's and got banned. The return of traction control came in the 2000's together with automatic gearboxes.

  • @realmoenie

There aren't automatic gearboxes but semi-automatic. They still have to shift up or down and the last manual gearbox in f1 raced in 1995

  • @realmoenie Semi-automatic gearbox, not a H shifter like the gearbox of 89 Mclaren car.

  • @comlax22

Horsepower changed a lot too, from 1000-1400 to about 600...take that into consideration as well.

  • @comlax22 much better engine in 89, much less aero restrictions and slick qualifying tires. Senna fans are so noobs

  • @arturcraft2 more powerful engine, nearly zero electronic intervention as today...F1 know it alls are such dicks.

  • @comlax22 I agree. Those 89 cars are much more challenging to drive than recent F1s

  • i'd give this to senna, JUST!

  • @minihulk69 Id give it to Senna just because he was the better man.

  • @dazza027 good point. Senna gets this pole by about 0.001 maybe of a second
