My turtle eats brine shrimp and blood worms, i get them from a reptile store, they're frozen then when they hit the water they seperate. So far he won't eat anything else, working on it though. He's only a little guy :) try that.
@tito2541 VERY glad you said that, checked and my thermometer is broken.
he wont eat pellets and he cant catch minnows (ive tried). hes only about an inch and a half. but i did fin a food at my LFS, sun dried red shrimp. he LOVES it. thanks though.
@SuperAabbcc112233 you don't feed them at first, they have mucus in their stomach they eat, the put them in mud and little bug appear that they eat, at least that what's happened with my baby snapper
@tito2541 What sort of filter do you use? I have a 7 month old female hatchling in a 55 gallon set up; but I am having a hard time finding a filter that doen't need really deep water to run (such as the Fluval 405). I need something, though; she really mucks up her tank and if I change her water too often, she gets a bad case of skin peeling.
the best place to find them is in the road, i have found 4 of them in the last 2 weeks and just decided to keep one that i found about 2 days ago, he is a common, i had found a alligator snapper but i put him in my uncles private pond where he will be safe and we can kinda keep track of him (hopefully). like i said, the roads near water are the best places to find them.
can u add him with other turtles or will he out grow them and eat them?

@SuperAabbcc112233
minnows and aquatic turtle pellets.
mmm perhaps water temperature might be affecting the turtle's appetite?

How deep do you keep the water in your 55 gallon?

@veelalynne
no deeper than the turtle's reach on its hind legs with its neck stretched out.

I can't give you the exact names of the filters right now; but
I use two filters (65 gallon filter and 30 gallon filter).
try adding more bedding to the tank for you can raise the water level.
Also a slope for one side can be deeper than the other.
might be shedding?
