Today , the in thing is to turn away. To be deaf dumb and blind.Anti thought.American idol style .
The dumber the better.Just don't fall out of time with your favorite football team.To hell with global warming , americans love their cars and fur coats..Stuff your stomachs with beer and hot dogs and censor thought...
Big time genius , sharpest knife on the street .These guys are working at the highest level imaginable.Puts all these shows today in their proper place , the toilet, where they belong. .Thanks to the genius and magic and wonder of this incredible cast..
Catching a cold in Norway sucks. No neocitron, benedryl or KFC. But at least I,m watching the next best thing to chicken soup! Thank you, i really need this right now!
@BlameRepublicans What I've read is that Vincent Gardenia got tired of doing TV work during the 4th season of AITF. He also didn't care much for the Frank Lorenzo character, and requested that he be written out of the show. Betty Garrett said in an interview that attempts were made to explain Frank's whereabouts, but were subsequently dropped. Her Irene character would be phased out over the course of the next two years.
I used to sit and watch this show with my dad back in the 70's. Every time a watch these episodes it really makes me reminisce. This show actually brought my family together. I'm so glad i had the chance to grow up during this time. When i watch this show, i really miss my dad!
I will never understand woman like Edith. The worse a man treats them like Archie, the more they convince themselves it's love, and they are wonderful and take up for them at all cost. It is amazing. My mom is like that about my dad in real life, after 49 yrs of a HORRIBLE marriage, I witnessed my own self. SAD!
sure this was real television....enjoying it and so nice to see how our rights as women is being recognised in society now...the way archie spoke to edith
We did but we had only mastered the combination of chemotherapy and antibiotics in the mid 60's so doctor's would still have been playing catch up in the mid seventies. You would have been more likely to find a specialist who practiced radiation therapy as it had been the longer standing cancer treatment. Regardless, radiation is still used today in contained cancerous growths so Edith still would have had radiation treatment.
Jean Stapleton was a brilliant actress and brought an extraordinary humanity to Edith. Her delivery of the line "I've got a lump in my breast" still holds deep emotional power today. My Mother discovered she had a lump in her breast shortly after this episode aired and was able to face it , get help and talk about it partly because of Edith Bunker's similar struggle in this episode.
@srbdirector my mother also, no show today can even come close to the magnificent acting these people did, you are so right, when edith acknowledges it, to this day it still brings a tear to my eye, this is acting pure and simple
You are very observant. Carroll's accent was good, but here he messed up. Ya see, Carroll O'Conner was raised in a wealthy family. He had to learn that New York accent like we learn foreign languages.

This was yet another groundbreaking episode of "All In The Family" which let women know that they should get regular checkups for breast cancer.
