the poster of this video is so full of shit... this is from a shockwave file I had once. it's an animation... came with some ati graphics cards, I believe, and the coolest thing was that you could view the animation from any angle because it was a realtime 3d engine while it was playing

I for one believe that such a machine, or something closely approximating it, could be engineered without too much trouble.  It's possible to send a ball on exactly the same trajectory multiple times - so why not?

I think the most difficult part to emulate would be the rapid succession with which the balls are fired - jams would likely plague any such endeavour and it would be difficult to make a mechanism with the tolerance for such speed and accuracy.

Still, I could imagine playing a simple low bpm composition on such a device. Hell you could even trigger the air cannons via a midi controller.
