@riderpoet you saying that encapsulates the type of mentality that makes scientists unpopular around the world. It's the absolute disconnection from nature, it's like that Native American said about the white man-to the white man, -everything- is dead,w/o a spirit, even his own kid.
OK. I don't like bugs. I hate bugs. But this video actually really upset me. I kind of had to imagine what it would feel like and I just think this is taking things to far. Why do we even need to do this?

Third... The pain for a bug might be worse, less, or interpreted as just information without a sensation. Problem is no real way to know unless you're the bug!
So, stop crying... Hopefully is just one bug being experimented with (Oh dear me, who am I tricking =/)
No, it's not fucking sad. We are the dominant species of the Earth. If we control 1 beetle out of 50 fucking billion, we aren't hurting anything. For fucks sake quit crying.
What would happen if humans switched places with these remotely controlled beetles and became Remotely Controlled Humans? Sad to see these beetles being controlled.
if the beetle is dead (from a natural cause), i suppose its ok to conduct this experiment
But if the beetle is conscious and can feel its body moving out of its own control and can feel the pain from the fall (which sounds pretty painful), then its not right to conduct the experiment
On the other hand, insects are the most common life forms on our planet
But i still think its wrong to make a living organism (which deserves to be free) move (or do anything) against its will
Do you mean because if it still had its free will, it would be at Starbucks listening to Thelonious Monk and reading Kafka? It's a BEETLE. It's essentially a biological robot already.
PETA's gonna have a field day with this one.

I'm curious as too whether or not this method could be applied to humans.

Can you do this with a wasp? And then like press "S" to make it sting. Would be pretty cool, anyone?

It drops to the ground so roughly. :( This project isn't very stealthy either, the beetle's wings are very loud.

The insect is more or less in a dead state because it cant use its brain anymore.

@rskbug Insects are pretty much machines anyway. If it was a dog or something this would be wrong, but it's a bug. It has no conscious
