  • I'm in the process of making a keychain EDC/Survival kit, what knot would you recommend for a key-fob that is compact but still gives me as much paracord as possible (I'd like 5-10 feet)

Could it be one that you have done a tutorial on? I've tried a few of yours and they were easy to understand (Celtic Heart knot being one of them, good work man)

  • thank you =]

  • can you remake the first part, i cant start it worth nothing, and i cant get the first part done. it doesn't turn out the same as yours.

  • Thanks so much. VERY informative and well done.

  • nice

  • I can't see anything your doing!

  • Brilliant choice in music, my friend.

  • I enjoyed making this. Thank you.

  • thank you! this was awesome, can't wait to tackle some more projects! you should possibly put up together a hammock video!

  • I love your videos, and I've made most of your weaves. I've also made up some weaves of my own, like my "braided switchback strap" and my "wide genoese zipper sinnet." Thanks so much for your videos; they've really helped my inner creativity.

Do you think the rattlesnake key fob isn't too stiff to make a bracelet out of?

  • Hi, I'm afraid you lose me also near the beginning of this one. I'm missing the crux and can't see where the three columns come from. I have succeeded with some other of your videos. Thanks for the great work

  • You need to slow down and explain what you are doing. I can start it but then loose what to do. Is there any instructions to this weave.

  • Thanks TAIT, I just made a great lanyard for my knife using this vid. I acually threaded that initial loop you make through my knife before tying it. It worked out really nice. I can upload a quick vid of it if you are interested :)

  • I have made this knot from the video but I wind up having one end "doing all the work" and turning out too short. Any suggestions? Need a video shot backed out at beginning and occasionally as you go along. Bought your book... really I think there is some magic at work!

    Haden

  • Great vid man, good job!

  • thank u 4 the infos about how snake tastes. i ll keep that in mind next time i ll eat a snake :))

  • I agree with those who say this vid isn't the best tutorial, but I gotta give credit for posting this because I now know how to make a cool looking rattlesnake thing! I found it is easier to visualize if you flip it upside down; you essentially creating three "columns" and using the loose end to interlace in between them. Confusing at first, but once you get it you can't forget.

  • I've been thinking about the best zipper pull for my backpack with quick-untying in mind. I've settled on this one. I can just cut the top retaining loop and the entire thing comes apart without tangling. Anything braided with two working ends has to be either unbraided or cut in half to get at it quickly.

  • i have watched this video so many times, i got to 1:54 and you jerk the cordage and it causes you to loose track of which cord you are dealing with. i have watched that segment frame by frame and unfortunately is the most important part of the video as immediately after that segment the pattern emerges, thats why beginners are getting lost. following illustrations i have found work much better thats how i made them before but now you seem to have the only link to weaving this knot. too bad.

  • I would like to see you make a whole rattlesnake with paracord, that would be magnificent.

  • Node is very easy, the most important is the beginning - we use a pause.

The node is not available for download in your home page .. Why?

What is the book I'd bought it if there were more nodes to the keys and utility knives, and if the book was available on ebay.

Thank you for the great video!

  • GOD DAMN THIS KNOT !!! I CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT AND I CAN'T FIND ANY OTHER VIDEOS OF IT

  • @CrunchieDan FUCK THIS KNOT

  • can slow that a bit,as u r showing your steps very fast,u r expert in tht but its difficult for others as a begginer, plz understand,

  • cool but u need to slow down!!!!!!

  • cool but u need to slow down

  • What other fob knots have you made besides the obvious box knot?

  • Ok, I keep getting stuck at 1:47 LOL

  • the video can get a little confusing. if anyone's having the same trouble that i was having, these pointers will help our.

-there is only one working end

-don't start in the middle, make the working end longer by about 2 feet.

-the pattern for the working end is:

    --over right loop

    --over standing end

    --under left loop

    --repeat

  • did you start at the middle?

  • did you start from the middle?

  • How do you get such clean cut ends on your paracord?

  • @cekretkod -I'm guessing that JD burnt the ends when it was cut to length.

  • Cool fob. Thanks TIAT.

one thing though, you should add little commentary telling us that you're just repeating the same braid over and over. i was having some problems following until i noticed the pattern. judging from the comments, i think a lot of people had the same problem i was having. watch what he does, then try it!!!

  • what type of music is this

  • @Gurusoaloon16 - Icelandic - Sugar Ros

  • @Gurusoaloon16 it's depressing music, whatever it is.

  • would this work with any type of thread yarn ect o would it only work with cord?

  • I ask what is the practical use for this other than looking cool?

  • @link456652 it is a key fob (key ring) lol

  • can u talk or r u mute?

  • @BlurConfusion His voice is at the beggining of the video in the intrduction smart one.

  • can you make a bracelet with this design?

  • sorry 4 stupid quest, but can i use all type of cord, or rope, to make the knot?

  • @MrKame21 - You can use any type of cord or rope you have.

  • U need to say how much paracord to use

  • Your knots are great, your music is crap.

  • does shoelase work?

  • @Unknown543214649 itried and yes the doe but only to an extent the one i made was rubbish but it could have been because i rushed

  • TIAT, thanks so much for the original content you post to Youtube! It's so nice to see a completely different knot that no one else has posted and that has a whole different look to it. Even though they are difficult and take some practice, as with anything else, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it! Keep up the good work and keep the difficult one coming!

Oh, and for disrespectful brats that don't like the music - did you forget your computer has a volume control?

  • let me just say.. shit went wrong when i tried this...

  • Wow dude u always have the best songs (wondering how u found them)

  • i'm using this as a pocket knife lanyard, once i have it done ill pass one tag through the hole in the knife, and turn it back toward the other tag, i'm having trouble coming up with the right not to tie, the diamond isnt working for me, because i tie that on the cord running to and from the knife, then i'm left with the second tag coming from the fob????

  • Got it after a few tries and a good night's sleep.

    The trick :

always wrap turning in the same direction, and of course keep the order (lone cord, part of loop most away from you, part of loop close to you.) You then won't even have to think about where to make the cord exit.

I had a perfect one as soon as I got this.

    Thanks JD ~ TIAT !

  • what's the name of the song?!?!?!?!?!

  • @VodgaDj

    ...

    Music: 5:21

    ...

    JD ~ TIAT

  • first all good knots i have to saw! but rewinding rewinding rewinding i cant stand that damn music dude,,, you ned to talk and not play music@! but maybe thats just me the music is too damn much to learn how to tie these knts!

  • Hahahha, fob, fob is a funny word.

  • beautiful video

  • super video

  • Great ties. Great videos. Thanks for the time.

  • what type of cord do you use?

  • Took me a few tries to keep the twist right but finally got it. I used 550 black paracord so it matches my uniform. Thank for all the great tutorials.

  • this is fucking hard and i cant fucking make it so thanks alot

  • @muberblob ,What a way to show respect to someone who took the time to post up the instruction's:(.

There is very little of any common courtesy these days.

Spoiled inconsiderate children who have no class abound :(.

What do you want him to do,Tie it for you?.

But I wanted to say thank you to J.D for these very clear and awesome instruction's.

    You rock!!!! :).

  • @TheRadulykan well said :)

  • @TheRadulykan im sorry guys, i did eventually make it lol and yes i love tiat, i just found this one confusing, at 3 in the mourning, and @Fragite dont be a troll i own a horse

  • @muberblob Thanks for apologizing. Also, I got trolled by google with one of their small pranks that turns your keyboard into a dvorak keyboard, so I got my own medicine.

  • @Fragite haha at least the Dvorak keyboard is easier to use, when the letters r labeled right lol

  • @TheRadulykan i am a kid yet i love this little difficult but whateva

  • @muberblob umad?

  • Thanks alot... for nothing. I still can't make this knot. And the Ashley Book of knots is just crap.It doesn't explain clearly how to make all those knots.

  • This one is really hard.

  • is there a way to make this with two or three colors?

  • @NickPech on my first try of this, I made one with 2 colors. I bet you could do three but it would get fat and you would have only about 2 feet with each cord. The one I made has 2 colors each about 10 feet total and the total length of the weaved part is about 5 inches. I will send JD a picture and I'm sure he can do one, and he might bless us with a video even. Good luck.

  • The music makes me want to put a bullet in my brain while I am frustratingly trying to learn this knot. Thanks!

  • no effence dude but gay ass music nice skills though

  • nice knot, nice music, nicely explained. 5 stars

  • its a little too confusing it might be easier if you talked instead of having words on the screen

  • Is there a way to tie this knot with a loop at the end rather than a knot? This would make a great knife lanyard if I could do that.

  • theres no other videos on it cause no one can fucking tie the damn thing without u fucking talking GOD DAMNIT!

  • Damn people everyone of his videos he tells you what he effing use. Read the info bar, view previous comments, look at the related vids on the side, google, and or look at his page damn. You look like complete idiots asking "where can I get this from?" What type of rope is it?" My goodness did you just randomly came across this vid? Knowing you want a bracelet, but having no clue what the material is... Is retarded.. Sorry I said for you TIAT. Keep up the awesome work!

  • all knots are so confusing

  • This one is the only one of your knot making videos I am unable to understand despite all the rewinds:( Too many "dirty tricks" of hiding cord away from camera with your hands at the key points ...

  • pan out. I get so far then I mess it all up ????

  • i have but one question i love this noting style but i can only get a hold of thin string like strong embroidery floss will it work with thin string?

  • About how much cord are you using for this project?

I want to make one, but I don't really want to cut my cord too short, or to long and end up with a bunch of waste.

  • @Pookereh 5 FUCKING FEET!!! WATCH THE WHOLE VIDEO DIPSHIT AND MAYBE U WILL SEE AT THE END HE SAYS 5 FEET!!!!

  • @paintballhead03 Well, what a helpful comment. I'm glad you took the time out of your—clearly—busy day to, ever so politely point out that the information I was looking for was displayed for 3 seconds during the end credits.

You must take such pride in your clear communication skills, and being such an upstanding internet citizen.

Thanks once again for your help.

    Cunt.

  • @Pookereh Thank you, I Love you too Cunt.

  • could you use an extra amount of paracord and turn this into a bracelet?

  • Is this Nylon paracord, regular paracord, or is there not a difference?

  • @BarsBrat

    ...

As far as nlyon goes, there's no difference. But there are different gages of paracord. Primarly 550 (thicker, 7 strands within hollow cord) and 450 (thinner, 4 stands within hollow cord). This said, the stand number can vary vender to vender. I recently ordered 450 paracrod and found some contained 4 cords others 5.

    ...

    JD ~ TIAT

  • @TyingItAllTogether will this work with really thin string like wax string?

  • Great video and all but you really need to show more of the view of the rope it's too hard to see whats going on with the camera so close can't tell where the end of the rope is and where the loops is please show a less closeup view

  • nice keychain

  • Thanks for posting this, your finished product looks great. I'm just too retarded to actually make the damn thing work.

  • Thanks, JD. I enjoyed tying this one.

  • @TNStratos201

    ...

    You're welcome... (smile)

  • Here is someone taking their time to help and has put out some great videos which I have learned greatly from and then I see all the negative crap people type because of their own ignorance. If u don't have the brain capacity to figure it out then go back to kindergarten and suck on your pacifier. Thanx TIAT for your great videos.

  • are you gay?

  • how the heck i i supposed to see what youre doing with the cord when you wrap it around the back? guess im supposed to guess...

  • fuck you !!!! i got to the middle of it then you did sm funky shit fuck you ill just gotro the libary and ill learn how to do it and ill make a better vid then your dumb ass stupid video im just really fusterated im trying and try i really am and i just cant get it

  • @suicide5389 Retard, it's so simple... around one then through the middle of the other two and repeat...

Just keep track of which is next, 1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3...

  • @suicide5389

dood, he keeps doing the same thing... over and over... all the way down. around 1 and through the other two, always going clockwise. thats why the whole braid is uniform.

he didn't do anything funky in the middle. Don't try and copy his every move, watch him and learn the braiding pattern

  • you should like just do step by step pictures on all your knots and things it would be alot easier

  • ive watched this video seriously like 50 times trying to figure it out ive been pausing and replaying and i cant do it i try and my sting keeps lookin like crap

  • i do the exact same shit you do and mine is a sting with sm twisted knots in it

  • fuck this all i end up is a sting with knots all balled up in

  • dude wtf TIAT you need to move your fucking hands goddamn it or remake the video i cant se what your doing i really want mo make this and i cant see how!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank You.took me a few goes but it turned out great thanks to your video.

  • thanks

  • How could I tie this with two different colors of paracord? Great videos and I have learned a lot watching them!! THANKS!

  • Nice tutorial! :)

I feel that this could be made even nicer by finishing with a diamond knot rather than an overhand. :)

  • wow..that one was so easy.

    Another good video mate.

Very well put together. Good visuals, good slow clear

    instructions and a great soundtrack.

    Thumbs up and favorited

  • Took practice and attaching the paracord to two small knitting needles allowed me to pull the cords nicely through the loops and thus allowed the knot to stay tight. Exceptional videos! I never thought I could tie these knots but you have helped immensely! THANKS!

    ROB

  • Got this in few tries, now it's an every-day practice :)

Ok now, is there a relation how long piece of cord you will need to make X inches long Rattlesnake?

  • I had'nt worked that out...

But I'll take some measurements and see what I find.

    JD ~ TIAT

  • @TyingItAllTogether ok, 1" RS will require approx. 15" of cord, where 12" is actual weaving, and 1"x3 is for base tags. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @TyingItAllTogether what is that stuff and where do you get it

  • @Gymgirl101100

    ...

It's called 450 Paracord and you can purchase it online.

    ...

    JD ~ TIAT

  • Cool!

I'll work it out tonight and see.

  • The method looks similar to that of the "Ladder (Trilobit)" knot, just that this time there are 3 axes of weaving.

  • Comment removed

  • Excellent instructional video. I got it first go. What is the sound track?

  • where do you buy your cord?

  • WOOHOO!GOT IT THIS TIME!!!:-)

  • couldnt see that loop no more,so i failed

  • Instructions are clear and coherent, camera is zoomed in and tight, and the knot itself is awesome. Two thumbs up. Thanx for another great vid.

  • @no9scrum Turn off the damn sound

  • Lol i was looking trough the abok yesterday and i saw that knot the first i opend the book LOL

  • i agree about the snake though i havent had rattlesnake it was a water mocasin or cotton mouth it was pretty good

  • so its kinda like the zipper stitch but the product is a triangular prism

  • TIAT this is my favorite so far!!! 5*

  • you are the best!

    i love paracord

    tnks!

  • man i cannot get this one...ughhhh

  • awesome vid, where do you get your cord from?
