I'm in the process of making a keychain EDC/Survival kit, what knot would you recommend for a key-fob that is compact but still gives me as much paracord as possible (I'd like 5-10 feet)
Could it be one that you have done a tutorial on? I've tried a few of yours and they were easy to understand (Celtic Heart knot being one of them, good work man)
I love your videos, and I've made most of your weaves. I've also made up some weaves of my own, like my "braided switchback strap" and my "wide genoese zipper sinnet." Thanks so much for your videos; they've really helped my inner creativity.
Do you think the rattlesnake key fob isn't too stiff to make a bracelet out of?
Hi, I'm afraid you lose me also near the beginning of this one. I'm missing the crux and can't see where the three columns come from. I have succeeded with some other of your videos. Thanks for the great work
Thanks TAIT, I just made a great lanyard for my knife using this vid. I acually threaded that initial loop you make through my knife before tying it. It worked out really nice. I can upload a quick vid of it if you are interested :)
I have made this knot from the video but I wind up having one end "doing all the work" and turning out too short. Any suggestions? Need a video shot backed out at beginning and occasionally as you go along. Bought your book... really I think there is some magic at work!
I agree with those who say this vid isn't the best tutorial, but I gotta give credit for posting this because I now know how to make a cool looking rattlesnake thing! I found it is easier to visualize if you flip it upside down; you essentially creating three "columns" and using the loose end to interlace in between them. Confusing at first, but once you get it you can't forget.
I've been thinking about the best zipper pull for my backpack with quick-untying in mind. I've settled on this one. I can just cut the top retaining loop and the entire thing comes apart without tangling. Anything braided with two working ends has to be either unbraided or cut in half to get at it quickly.
i have watched this video so many times, i got to 1:54 and you jerk the cordage and it causes you to loose track of which cord you are dealing with. i have watched that segment frame by frame and unfortunately is the most important part of the video as immediately after that segment the pattern emerges, thats why beginners are getting lost. following illustrations i have found work much better thats how i made them before but now you seem to have the only link to weaving this knot. too bad.
one thing though, you should add little commentary telling us that you're just repeating the same braid over and over. i was having some problems following until i noticed the pattern. judging from the comments, i think a lot of people had the same problem i was having. watch what he does, then try it!!!
TIAT, thanks so much for the original content you post to Youtube! It's so nice to see a completely different knot that no one else has posted and that has a whole different look to it. Even though they are difficult and take some practice, as with anything else, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it! Keep up the good work and keep the difficult one coming!
Oh, and for disrespectful brats that don't like the music - did you forget your computer has a volume control?
i'm using this as a pocket knife lanyard, once i have it done ill pass one tag through the hole in the knife, and turn it back toward the other tag, i'm having trouble coming up with the right not to tie, the diamond isnt working for me, because i tie that on the cord running to and from the knife, then i'm left with the second tag coming from the fob????
Got it after a few tries and a good night's sleep.
The trick :
always wrap turning in the same direction, and of course keep the order (lone cord, part of loop most away from you, part of loop close to you.) You then won't even have to think about where to make the cord exit.
first all good knots i have to saw! but rewinding rewinding rewinding i cant stand that damn music dude,,, you ned to talk and not play music@! but maybe thats just me the music is too damn much to learn how to tie these knts!
Took me a few tries to keep the twist right but finally got it. I used 550 black paracord so it matches my uniform. Thank for all the great tutorials.
@TheRadulykan im sorry guys, i did eventually make it lol and yes i love tiat, i just found this one confusing, at 3 in the mourning, and @Fragite dont be a troll i own a horse
@muberblob Thanks for apologizing. Also, I got trolled by google with one of their small pranks that turns your keyboard into a dvorak keyboard, so I got my own medicine.
Thanks alot... for nothing. I still can't make this knot. And the Ashley Book of knots is just crap.It doesn't explain clearly how to make all those knots.
@NickPech on my first try of this, I made one with 2 colors. I bet you could do three but it would get fat and you would have only about 2 feet with each cord. The one I made has 2 colors each about 10 feet total and the total length of the weaved part is about 5 inches. I will send JD a picture and I'm sure he can do one, and he might bless us with a video even. Good luck.
Damn people everyone of his videos he tells you what he effing use. Read the info bar, view previous comments, look at the related vids on the side, google, and or look at his page damn. You look like complete idiots asking "where can I get this from?" What type of rope is it?" My goodness did you just randomly came across this vid? Knowing you want a bracelet, but having no clue what the material is... Is retarded.. Sorry I said for you TIAT. Keep up the awesome work!
This one is the only one of your knot making videos I am unable to understand despite all the rewinds:( Too many "dirty tricks" of hiding cord away from camera with your hands at the key points ...
@paintballhead03 Well, what a helpful comment. I'm glad you took the time out of your—clearly—busy day to, ever so politely point out that the information I was looking for was displayed for 3 seconds during the end credits.

As far as nlyon goes, there's no difference. But there are different gages of paracord. Primarly 550 (thicker, 7 strands within hollow cord) and 450 (thinner, 4 stands within hollow cord). This said, the stand number can vary vender to vender. I recently ordered 450 paracrod and found some contained 4 cords others 5.

Node is very easy, the most important is the beginning - we use a pause.

Thank you for the great video!

--under left loop
--repeat
