  • Looks like smooth cam was used to stablize the footage. Or maybe its a BMW thing lol

  • I posted a video response of the contourHD with no mods to the footage at all, no color correction or smooth cam as an experiment comparison enjoy!

  • I would try converting it out of PAL if that is what it's using. I can put up 10min HD videos with out a problem of image quality. Might have to upgrade software to Final Cut or Avid, Premier etc. I used to have my camera's software and I didn't have the option of converting it. Thanks for putting that up though, gives a true idea of what I'm looking at to buy.

  • @BRPJockey the camera will do PAL or NTSC but it'll never look as steady as this video. I haven't been able to get anything this steady even on smooth pavement. On trails, it makes me sick watching it.

I've tried all kinds of mounting locations but the video is kind of wavy just standing still. Overall I do not recommend this camera.

Maybe the next version they'll work out some of the bugs, but it looks like 10 fps to me.

  • the quality seems pretty poor to me, bad picture quality and some choppiness/ skipping.

  • Most of that is due to the loss of quality resulting from the resolution settings needed to upload to YouTube. When played on the PC or the TV at home, the quality is much, much better.

  • its 5megapixel, its just youtubes quality

  • Reply to w0sp0 about steadiness... the camera does a good job of smoothing out the images, but it's not stabilized. I had it mounted on a simple piece of pvc pipe, connected to the camera with a Ram ball mount. Since then I've gotten the more sophisticated Motorsports mounting kit from BestRest Products.

  • Yeah, it's a private road, but it leads to public land. Trouble is getting access. Winter storms have closed off the other end, so getting to it is difficult.

  • Great vid. Is that a private road? And do they mind you using it? I've started a site specifically for biker video people. m13online. com

  • Hi,

Very interested in this camera. Just wondering how you get it so steady. What sort of mount are you using please.

    Cheers.

  • How the hell do you control the throttle while standing? I have a 1200GS also and the throttle is damned touchy. I think I am also too tall to do this too long. I have to reach too far down to the handle bars.

  • Most GS riders have the handlebars too low. Get some 1" handlebar risers and rotate the bars so they're more upright. Then get some lower pegs. Your goal is to have a position on the bike where you're not hunched over, and you're not putting any weight on the bars. Head up, looking forward, and you should be able to stand in that position for long periods without fatigue.

Once your riding position is comfortable, your wrists and arms can relax and throttle control comes much easier.

  • That...is rad.
