Any infantry Marine will tell you this is not how things play out in combat environments. Those who do are either lying or have never been outside the FOB.
My personal opinion: This scene (and others like it) illustrate that no matter whether officers purchase their positions or go through military academies your just as likely to get bad officers as you are good officers.

why are people having rage wars about games
-in COD you run and gun, the maps are too small to be tactical with aiming
-in battlefield you have gravity, bullet speed, and large maps good for distance sniping PLUS you really have to be picky with your guns due to the ranges you're shooting at
in ARMA the maps are gigantic and put battlefields to shame and have the most realistic of shooting characteristics, like bullet speed gravity wind speed heart rate, so on and so forth. can we stop the rage?

No doubt rnlisted men have more combat experience than a 2LT with no seniority. However, the reason that enlisted men aren't officers are because about 90% lack the intellect to grasp grand strategy, or even large scale battle tactics.
There's no money excuses. If you're smart, you get in to military college. Free.
4 years or more of straight learning. Range tables, strategy, all that. They're better. Period.

Most ROTCs aren't any smarter than any one else that I met during my undergrad years in Computer Sci/ Engineering. 2) as a ROTC there isn't all that much "grand strategy, or even "large scale battle tactics" as you call it. You usually don't get that except like at Army War College or the equivalent after you're already a field grade (what's a field grade?). And NO you just don't "get into military college. Free" Look into getting into the Citadel. Dumbshit.

BTW where was the strategy and planning when the decision to use 1st Recon as Ambush bait was made??? Yeah lets stuff 1st recon into unarmored humvees some with no doors and have them drive headlong into a meat grinder so the RCT knows who to blow the shit out of!!! Ya that makes perfect sense when the Corps had units like 1st LAR that has armored vehicles scouts, 25mm bushmasters, and everything they needed to survive ambushes and are set up for meneuver warfare.

Spoken like a true zero.... 4 years of college at Bumfuck state university does not make you a leader... Neither, I am afraid does 10 weeks of OCS or 6 months of TBS dude. Officers wither start out good leaders or start out clusterfucks. and sadly the latter is more often true. and until the US Military understands that combat leaders should be promoted based on merit and not GPA and that most of those promotions should come from salty enlisted ranks...
