Gilliam and Burton are considered geniuses, all their movies(even the bad ones) are entertaining other than Sweeney Todd which was one of the worst most disgusting films I have ever seen. They are highly regarded by their peers and at the end of the day that's all that oesn't matter what you want in a movie, believe it or not this film was not made especially for you. Most people enjoy Farrell and Law's work and they will do justice to their friend Heath's performance.
I've seen Cold Mountain and Jude Law sucked in that. The only movie he could ever be good in was Artificial Intelligence because his acting is robotic. Farrell also makes a terrible Alexander. It's not about what they do in their private life. It's about the quality of the actors who were cast. I feel that by casting such talented actors to pick up where Heath Ledger left off, it's a more than decent testament to his life. That's just my opinion, anyways.
I don't think they're good actors anyway. Johnny is the only one who can act AND he's a gentleman. Colin Farrell, no way. Jude Law, heck no. It's not right casting those two. Anyway, as I said, if it wasn't for that anorexic rat Mary Kate, I wouldn't have this problem.
It doesn't matter who you think jude law and colin farrel are. They were both close friends with Heath Ledger and are donating every penny they make from this movie to Heath's daughter, Matilda. Talk shit as much as you want, but you never knew Heath, his relationships, or his friends.

You didn't either. Jude Law and Colin Farrel are terrible actors whose reputations are ruined by their lasvicious lifestyles. I bet they're donation wasn't even sincere, but buttkissing. I think it's unwise to cast them. It's insulting to Heath's memory. I may not have known him, but I loved him all the same and I am insulted by casting 2 poor excuses for men to replace him. I don't think Heath would want that. He never worked with those 2 and I think he'd share my sentiments.
I don't really give a fuck why they're giving all of their money to Matilda, whether it be brown-nosing or sincerity. Bottom line is that they picked up a movie role for a deceased actor, and are giving all of their profit to said actor's daughter. Whether you like them or not, Jude Law and Colin Farrell are doing a great thing by picking up the pieces that Heath Ledger left behind. You're so busy caught up by their "playboy" lifestyles that you can't see the good behind their actions.

They would be doing a great thing if they stayed away from this project and do something they're good at, like finding a new girl or cheating on their fiancees. Perhaps that is the bad thing. They're playboys, so it makes it hard to see any potential they have.
See? So caught up in the way the media portrays their life that you can't acknowledge the good they're doing. Viggo Mortensen is way too old; if he was in the movie, he'd have to play Heath Ledger's dad. Johnny Depp's pretty old, but let's be honest; the dude's looked the same for like twenty years. Rupert Friend is a super-generic actor who hasn't even earned his stripes yet. And you had NO idea who Heath Ledger was friends with in life, so don't act as if you do.

Well, it's not like they do good work anyway. I can't name 1 good movie of Jude Law's or Colin Farrell. So, casting such terrible actors to finish a piece by an excellent actor like Heath is insulting. I'm not acting as if I know who Heath was friends with, I'm just saying he's never acted in a film with Jude or Colin so he's likely never talked to them. I heard Terry Gilliam is eccentric, but I didn't think he'd be that nuts to replace his best actor with those 2.
I love Terry Gilliam but he hasn't been well and his last few movies have showed it, GOD I hope is one works an isn't a flop .. I don't think his mind can take it. :(

An adorable movie! It's awesome and bone-crunching. I think there is also a book based on this story, but for me, this is much better. Very exciting and unpredictable story. Gilliam and Burton are considered geniuses, all their movies(even the bad ones) are entertaining other than Sweeney Todd which was one of the worst most disgusting films I have ever seen. They are highly regarded by their peers and at the end of the day that's all that oesn't matter what you want in a movie, believe it or not this film was not made especially for you. Most people enjoy Farrell and Law's work and they will do justice to their friend Heath's performance.

I've seen Cold Mountain and Jude Law sucked in that. The only movie he could ever be good in was Artificial Intelligence because his acting is robotic. Farrell also makes a terrible Alexander. There are plenty of wonderful actors out there better than those 2. What about Jason Issacs, or James Franco?

He didn't win, so he's not good enough. And critics and other actors aren't always right. Take Roeper for example. That guy's an idiot. Perhaps they are all just being polite when they say how "great" they are? Maybe he really does suck and they are too polite to admit it. I'm not so sure of that. Kubrick was a weirdo. Orlando is a wonderful actor and those who say otherwise are blind. Why do you think he was chosen out of plenty of others to play Legolas right after he graduated drama school? PJ liked what he saw in him. I think it should've been him filling in for Heath. Kubrick is a legend, widely considered one of the best directors of all time. As has been said dozens of times, people who know far more about acting than you consider Law and Farrell to be good actors, Bloom is considered to be an average at best actor who plays all his roles in the exact same way and has no range. Stop being so self important, your opinion means nothing. Bloom was chosen as Legolas because of his looks(something PJ has said before), he has eleven features like Legolas should.

i no theres a lil bit of an argument going on below, but i think the fact the 3 actors finishing off heaths final film are donating everything they earn to his daughter, i thinks thats an AMASING gesture of friendship and respect. and i think for them to be doing that for heath, is a great way to say farewell to heath at the end of his career. may he rest in peace. and god bless johnny depp, collin farrel and jude law. what a sweet way to show there respects for him seens he didnt get to finish.

Colin Farrel and Jude Law are two of the finest actors under 50 working today, they are both highly thought of in showbiz circles and will continue to be considered great actors, there is NOTHING you can do about that, accept it and move on with your life. Gilliam also said Ledger was the best actor of his generation, bet you don't think he's so crazy now. Yeah they made mistakes, it doesn't mean they are forever horrible people. Law can't keep it in his pants but is still kind of nice to all his fans and a great actor(especially in that film with Michael Caine). Colin WAS a drunk, he is one no longer, he now drinks only once in a while and even attends weekly AA meetings in LA for the sake of his son. He is also a very talented actor especially in In Bruges(for which he won a Golden globe this year). Plus Farrell(who I have met) is very nice.

Just like Farrell cleaned up his act, yes he had drinking problems but he has now quit them after the birth of his son, his son was born with some kid of affliction and Farrell has been doing tons of charity for foundations for retarded kids. A few years ago he was video taped doing cocaine in a hotel room and he even died from taking too many types of pills in a period of 24 hours, one of the pills(Oxycontin) is only used on cancer patients and contains many of the same chemicals as heroin.

The reason he died was murder. Mary Kate gave him those pills and that anorexic cow won't talk. He was sick and when you are sick you dont think straight. He was no drug addict. If he did use cocaine, he would've been arrested on the spot. He's never been arrested. Therefore, he never did addict himself to drugs. He had a daughter he was very happy to live for. Mary Kate was asked to speak on the possibility she had proof Ledger was a doctor hopper, nobody other than trash mags suggested she gave him the pills because all the pill bottles had a legit prescription in his name. So, casting such terrible actors to finish a piece by an excellent actor like Heath is insulting.
