jasonmhc...as an American, thx for those words regarding Doug StanHope. I'm not the chest thumping, über American I used to be. I've woken up to what te USA has really done around the world...but at least buried on our collective shit is this priceless ass nugget of a comedian
carling and hicks would have been proud of doug, he walks in the shadow of giants and he deserves to, i just wisj britain could turn out comedian of this calibre, anerica you should be fucking proud of these guys they are great artists!
Doug is good, but I'd see him live soon if you can. He leads a hard lifestyle (although he did recently quit smoking) and might not be around much longer.
damn that is pretty bad, but self ownage jokes are kinda gimmicky in my opinion and Doug should stay away from those. Some can pull it off really like like Robert Schimmel, a true comedian. None of this Bobby Lee, Mencia bullshit. Fuck these new sissy gimmicky comedians.
I like doug stanhope, he reminds me of George Carlin in the sense they talk about the same things. But I don't think he can be classified as a comedy god just yet. Jeffrey Ross, Steven Wright, Richard Belzer, Bill Maher on the other hand....
I think Doug's best CD was the one where they had the dude play the guitar in the background. Ugh I forgot the name and I'm too lazy to check my iTunes playlist.
Well, Stanhope is more self depreciating than any other comedian I am aware of.
The story about getting mugged by a tranny hooker, putting a vibrating egg up his ass while jerking off, and having his mother suicide bomb a Subway for not serving the breakfast sandwich after 11 am are all pushing the envelope a bit farther than Carlin, IMO.
I got three of his CDs off his website without having to use my Amazon account. They're pretty cheap off his official site, adn for a reasonable price.
I don't know if anyone has heard but George Carlin a great groundbreaking comedian and Atheist has just died from heart failure, he was 71. In his lengthy career as a comedian, writer, and actor, George Carlin has not only made us laugh, but he made us think. I'm sure the Atheist community will miss him. As For the religious community I'm sure they will be rejoicing that another Atheist has gone to meet his just rewards. Well in the words of Gorge Carlin, You can go FUCK YOURSELF !!!
Anyway, I made a video on this topic myself a while back, but I'm almost embarrassed I did, as Stanhope pwns the pledge way better than I could ever hope to. I'm just a little proud of myself that I stopped saying it on principle in my senior year of high school.
I'm an atheist, but the "under God" part of the pledge is more hilarious than offensive to me. The rest of it (aside from the last six words) is EXTREMELY offensive though. Other self-proclaimed free countries don't encourage citizens to take a loyalty oath, folks. When you speak of major industrialized countries with a pledge of allegiance, you pretty much only have the U.S.A. and Nazi Germany.

Ricky Gervais isn't bad. Pretty good material, but no cussing.

Well, there's cussing... just not hardly as much.

Well, British humor tends to be more classy. Oh wait, Benny Hill...

Yeah. I've been leaving a lot of comments on his vids, and I'll have to catch him live one day, as he drinks pretty heavily.
Living out in boring as shit Brisbee, Arizona I can't really imagine him living past around the ten year mark.
And it'll be a damn shame cause he's so brilliant. Carlin's dead, and as a friend recently said, all we got now is Stanhope.
;)

Mencia is awful and a joke thief. Ditto for Dane Cook.
I do like Louis CK though. Have you seen his video on the Catholic Church?

Louis CK's humour is a bit generic, but his racial humor is funny and that was his old stuff...
SomethingAwfulYT 3 years ago
The clip seems hardly generic to me:

Still, we might have different senses of humor. How are the PhotoShop Fridays going? Do you still do those?
CadicusTheDamned 3 years ago
The photoshop stuff on SA hasn't been as great as they use to be sadly, but we still do them on a regular basis.
SomethingAwfulYT 3 years ago
he died?
SomethingAwfulYT 3 years ago
No, George Carlin died. Stanhope is still alive and kicking. This is a living tribute to a comedic god.

libertarianism is fancytalk for capitalism right?
mikezephyr 3 years ago
Capitalism is the economic system of free trade. Libertarianism is an political ideology espousing inalienable civil rights.
They are linked, however. Most Libertarians endorse capitalistic views and laissez fare economic systems.

Yeah, George was old though and lived a good life. He was a true philosopher disguised as a comedian.

Yes indeed.

He's great, sort of a drunken Libertarian prophet. I'll probably post more clips.

They should let people have a beer if they can join the military. I never understood the drinking age being 21. It should be 18.
