  • this is really good. im shocked. hes better than me by a long shot.

  • Impressive ...

  • Bravo Giuliano!!! Sei il meglio!!!

  • + he's soo cute :D

  • great trumpet... but actually the haydn concerto should be played on rotary valves, austrian technique! ;D

  • it that a bach strad Eb/D trumpet?

  • GREAT, Giuliano... !!!! Magnifique!!!!!

    Gabor Komlossy

  • i think i just jizzed my pants.

    BEAUTIFUL cadenza.

    Amazing performance, kid.

  • Beast.....

Conducting this piece soon for my high school orchestra, fell in love with it after the first run through....

  • toka del weno el loko ;)

  • Very mature performance for such a young kid

  • C'est absolument incroyable!

Il est très jeune et malgré tout un Virtuose!

    C'est magnifique ! Bravo!!!!!

  • Who are the orchestra and conductor?

  • what?!?!

  • too bad this piece is WRITTEN for Eb trumpet...

  • This was originally for Eb anyway.

  • Man this piece is cold blooded.

  • that was sick. great job

  • Bravo Giuliano, I already have those recorders you gave me on the JMWO tours, but it`s nice to see the videos now!! Good luck!!

  • Ugh I hate the cadenza. Horrible choice for Haydn. Doesn't sound like Haydn at all. Sounds like Guiliano!

  • That's what cadenzas are for.

  • I disagree. I think it should sound like the composer wrote it.

  • I just feel like cadenzas are traditionally the opportunity for the soloist to showcase their virtuosity, a moment within the piece where they say "listen to ME now." That's not to say that it would be appropriate to go TOO far afield, but I just think the cadenza is the time where it should sound unique to whoever is playing.

  • I agree with you EXCEPT that I think it is always possible to show your virtuosity within the confines of what is characteristic of the composer. If you listen to Wyntons candenza or Phil's, it sounds just like somthing Haydn would have wrote, yet it also shows what they can do.

  • maybe youre right but that is a 14 year old playing. i dont think you should be that harsh.

  • yeah cadenza was sick

  • This pretty much blows my mind... fantastic!

  • yes. Good begining. Nice and strong, maybe a little speedy but ok. Nice trumpet! Strings good on crescendos, horns very good sound and well balanced. NICE SOUND. VERY GOOD OVER ALL.

  • best version of this piece ive heard on youtube.

one of the best cadenza ive heard ever for this piece.

    excellent stuff!

  • Umm.. No that would be Maurice Andre

  • nah

  • Maurice Andre probably couldn't play it like this before his 15th birthday, and something tells me that nobody who writes comments on youtube videos could play it half this well either. (Definitely includes myself)

  • I honestly think Maurice most likely played this well or better at that this age.. just one man's opinion.. no need to get hostile.

  • What a total badass!

  • principal of gewandhaus orchestra in leipzig.

  • i say 3 more years will have him in some big orchestra

of course now, 10 years later, might as well be touring the world right now

    wonder what hes doing now

  • He seems like the kind of player that dosnt join an orchestra or anything like that. with his skills, touring as a soloist seems like it'd be perfect for him. i wish i could play half as well as he could!

  • maybe, but not by much...

  • Such fidelity! So musical! So rare!

  • Brilliant! Amazing technique and tone quality! Not to mention the reverberation in that concert hall rocks =D

  • Holy...13 years old with that range, technique, and a mature sense of musicality. Loved that cadenza! Is that a Bb Trumpet cut down to a Eb?

  • Eb trumpet.

  • wicked horn you got there

entirely jealous not going to lie. I played second movement when i was....14? couldnt hit the Bb..therefore it was pointless

  • god dangit! i wish i was a prodigy.lol

  • played piano*

  • Why did you move your hand position for the A/B trill at the end of the exposition?

  • Because my middle finger is stronger than the index finger ;)

  • Fair enough. I find that since I've played for just as long as trumpet, my index, middle, and ring fingers are equally strong for executing trills.

  • OH MY LORD! HE'S ONLY 13?!?!? Outstanding. This is amazing.

  • This is so amazing

  • Wow... again a slik move. Trilling the first valve with the middle finger. I have to try this myself since i've seen people younger as me doing it .... I'm so jalous.

  • I love it

  • Awesome job guy! I remember playing this song when I was about your age, a couple years older maybe? Your cadenza was much better than mine. :) You gave me goosebumps! That is a true musician!

  • WOW!!!!

  • my geeez! he's only 13 here!

  • il avait 12 ou 13 ans? merveilleux!

  • C'est un petit suisse ;-)))

  • joseph hayden

  • excellent parfait fabuleux, c'est qui cet extra terreste????

    bon je retourne m'entrainer

  • nice cadenza... congratulations excelent performance.

  • I can play that piece.... but not as well.. And he is two or three years younger than me!

  • does he play that trumpet because its easier to hold b/c i've seen some kids whoa dont mind the regular Bb

  • i wondor is it easyer to play it one that trumpet because its in a different key

  • DAM! dis kid sounds jus as good or better than pro's that play. AWESOME TONE!

  • omg.

I have to practise this now, and... well^^

    This kid is amazingly talented.

    jesus, its unbelievable... Oo

  • demasiado talento... felicidades

  • Sommerhalder has recentely won the Maurice André competition!!

    Wonderful player

  • that's the definition of a child prodigy. extremely good.

  • very nice tone, shows us that he has great breath control and flexiblility

  • Holy shit!

That little kid was amazing! I have never heard a kid his age even 1/2 that good.

  • Yeah, went to camp with this guy. He is that good.

  • is that an Eb?

  • People told me I was a prodigy when I was young. LOL Yeah Right.

  • watch how he does the trill at ~2.35 lol?

  • For some people, it's easier to trill with the middle finger, so there's really nothing wrong with that :P

  • Not bad bud still way too much "twa twa twa"

  • Some notes his does not attain directly, but goes from the tone beneath the one that he should have got from the beginning, to the latter.

  • is he 13 years old at that time??????????

  • i'm jealuous
