  • I'm not sure if you are correct with your story here. I heard that a girl came up to Harrison at a party and said, "Hey man, I know what it's like to be dead." I've read that in several books.

  • graet story behind this song

  • Most drugs are bad for everyone.

    Most are.

    For everyone.

  • @Hellishcrusade

    Coffee? Tea ? Mind-altering/expanding substance?

  • @TurnItBlueToYou1 - Who was it that said "Don't forget there's a big difference between kneeling down and bending over"?

  • @Hellishcrusade Frank Zappa. My dad loves his music.

  • @h4s4t4n - Haha!! ..Yeah I know, man! (actually, I was asking my girlfriend if she knew)

..."here come dat screamin' sowand agin"

  • How anyone could ever think that Ringo's drumming was not first-class is beyond me.

    Listen to "Ticket to Ride".

  • Harrison guitar and Ringo drums are great.

  • god dunt this song make u wanna go back 2 the 60s :-)

  • THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID

  • rip

  • It is really hard to look back on those times and not be embarassed about something. See how much sense you make on clean windowpane for a few days. Or so.

  • peter fonda did. apparently when he was ten, he was accidentally shot with a gun. he died on the table. they were able to bring him back. he did know what it is like to be dead.

  • Dig the Peter Fonda pics.

  • eastern influence and trippy drums.

.no no no your wrong ..when I was a boy everything as right..

  • For what it's worth, I can now empathize fully with the line "You're making me feel like I've never been born." Helluva night, that was.

  • this song is about Peter Fonda's acid trip.lol

  • Peter Fonda is dead

  • @cordfluidnevoie Trying not to laugh

  • check out 'Jimmy McCarty' on YT. Leonard Bernstein said this was the best Beatles song, for what it's worth.

  • Peter "The Great" Fonda!

  • i wish i could go back in time and kill chapman before he killed my hero :(

  • @OropherThranduil - Yes, apparently McCartney left after an argument and the other three kranked out the best track on the album - by a fair distance.

  • For the record, I will state this is my favorite song. But don't take my word for it, my favorite song will change in approximately two minutes and thirty-eight seconds...

  • WTF!!!!! One of my favorite Beatles songs with pix of Peter Fonda looking just like my ex-husband. OMG!!!!

  • Peter Fonda discovered a dead body while out driving last week in California. So now I guess he knows "what it's like to see dead." *rimshot*

  • I used to be one of those people who thought Ringo was just an average drummer. Then I got Beatles Rock Band. Go ahead, put the game on "expert" and see if you can follow Ringo. Good luck.

  • @jddmr22181 didn`t rate the song big time but Ticket to Ride was an amazing drum beat, playing it on guitar isn`t that marvelous but another groundbreaking Beatles tune, musicwise.

  • @jddmr22181 Listen to Ringo's drumming Sexy Sadie, Rain, Yer Blues, I Me Mine, Two of Us, Blue Jay Way, Taxman, Tommorow Never Knows, Strawberry Fields Forever, Abbey Road medley, Come Together, Hello Goodbye, etc. Perfect + underrated.

  • @jddmr22181

sometimes banging hard and fast on the drums is not half as hard as playing them with feel, taste and perfect timing, if only more would understand that.

  • I listened to this song during the time my mom was dying and on the way to her funeral.

So, instantly i associate it to that, but as much as I've tried to avoid this song, I feel like it now connects my mother and I.

When I listen to it, I get a rush of feelings that are overwhelming but let me see what needs to be dealt with.

Beautiful song. Beautiful to cry to and maybe one day to laugh to.

  • @mexifrida lo siento, todos tendremos que pasar por ese momento amargo alguna vez, espero te consuele escuchar esta musica maravillosa.

  • @dralder si, es lo bueno de la musica. te ayuda a no sentir la soledad.

  • @dralder Dear, I feel the same way about "In My Life" and my sister.... Funny how the Beatles can touch every sense of you life. Good times and bad... That is what makes them so endearing to me! Hope one day you finally get that opportunity to laugh..... Peace!

  • i love it man

  • Story goes..John & George were tripping in LA w/the Byrds. George was having a god-I'm-gonna-die bad trip. Fonda tries to calm him down by saying I know what it's like to be dead. (Fonda was shot @ age 10). John overhears this & thinks Fonda is full of it. Who put all those things in your head & you're making feel like I've never been born are things Lennon said at the time. The original working title was "He Said He Said" but Lennon changed He to She in part to hide the Fonda reference.

  • This is a great song that hasn't been played to death like so many of their others.

  • I LOVE LSD

  • I shit you not my dog goes nuts whenever he hears this song. Even canines love the Beatles!!!

  • listen to this song then "Rain" next......amazing

  • I just listened to "Sit Right Down and Cry" (BBC Sessions), and you can hear how skilled Ringo really is.

Kenny Arnoff -- "I consider him one of the greatest innovators of rock drumming and believe that he has been one of the greatest influences on rock drumming today... Ringo has influenced drummers more than they will ever realize or admit. Ringo laid down the fundamental rock beat that drummers are playing today and they probably don't even realize it. (Modern Drummer,Oct. 1987).

  • The reason for Peter Fonda pics is because it was Peter who said to John Lennon, one time with a little tea, "I feel like I've never been born."

  • This has to be my favorite song on the Revolver album--but there are so many close seconds! This album was a true turning point for the Beatles. All of their energy was focused on recording (not divided between touring and recording) and it shows.

  • Holy fucking shit, the Beatles must have been trippy as fuck.

  • @phoneix91 listen to Tomorrow Never Knows

  • Ringo's drumming is orgasmlike.

  • You say Justin Bieber-I SCREAM Beatles! You say Miley Cyrus-I say Led Zepplin You say T-Pain-I say Kiss You say Flowers-I say Deep Purple You say Pink-I say Pink Floyd You say Hip Hop-i say shut the fuck up You say Pop-I scream ROCK!! You say hanah montana-i hit you in the face 92% of teenagers have turned to HipHop and Pop.If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos. DON'T LET THE SPIRIT OF ROCK DIE

  • @7as0n Justin Bieber>the beatles

    faggot.

  • FAR SUPERIOR TO ANY AMERICAN 'ACID-ROCK'

  • easy rider is a badass movie hands down

  • I met him at a shell station in Santa Monica, he was making a video about his fuel cell car. He's really nice, I asked him about the car, and he was happy to explain it to me. I asked for his autograph on a street map of LA, and he said sure. He's a cool cat, I like the guy. But I should say too that I really don't like how shell treats Nigerians, so Peter if you are reading this, you may want to find some new friends. Just say'n.

  • the story goes it was a bad trip fonda got on johns tits and had anough of him when he said i know what it is like to be dead because fonda died on a operating table when young but was brought back to life

  • Listen to Starr's drumming on this. He has to incorporate different styles and tempos. Second rate drummer my arse! Mind you, if yiou want to hear real skill, listen to his performance on 'Sit Right Down and Cry' (BBC SEssions).

  • @flimbambo THANK YOU!!!! Ringo did all SORTS of great beats, tempos, fills, and such throughout the Beatles catalog. He's one of the greats, for sure!

  • @flimbambo it's a amazing drums.. is immposible...

  • @onewantone Yes, I think it's the drumming that gives this song its particular stylized beat. Four geniuses at work.

  • @tianobrothers

Three geniuses, it's George on bass, paul left the session after they had a little rumble.

  • @flimbambo

I agree Ringo is the #1 Rock Drummer-uncanny sense of timing.

  • @flimbambo Couldn't agree more. Rain is another Ringo gem.

  • Stunning. Starr excels, and McCartney wasn't even on the main session that produced this track. I'm kinda fonda this - geddit! Please yerselves .....

  • Comment removed

  • The Beatles should have given Peter Fonda at least credit for this song; partly this was from his own crazed out acid trip and from his own life. About 80% of the song is from Fonda.

  • @phoneix91 no you're wrong. this is all lennon

  • What an amazing song. I know I can't compare, but check out my cover!

  • I love ringos drumming in this, its really great :)

  • i cant

  • Uff!, què puedo decir son The Beatles!!

  • the drums on this is sickening good! phil collins said "you tell a drummer now adays to play this and they cant" WOOH!

  • Best Albums EVER:

    Revolver

    Sgt Pepper

    Love

    Abbey Road

    1

    Challenge THIS

  • @thomasfinleyegan

    Revolver/ Rubber soul (tied)

    sgt pepper

    abbey road

    the beatles

  • @QueenWhoBeatles the whhhite albummmm

  • I've been a Beatles fan for years and only recently found out that Paul is not playing on this song.

  • GOD DAMNIT I LOVE GEORGE HARRISON!

  • this is my favorite beatles song. Personally, though I dont like the way they recorded it. I love to play this in front of a crowd though.

  • and they say drugs are bad

  • I love the Beatles, but personally, I like the Black Keys version of this song.

  • @wonderxlick the black keys do a version of this ????

  • @mugwamp4 haha yeah, go listen to it. it's great

  • @mugwamp4 yea, a really good one

  • I don't think it was George that said that. It was some other actor guy who said it. And then Fonda responding saying that because he knew what it was like to be dead that he was making her feel like she'd never been born. Correct me if I'm wrong

  • Dennis Hopper died today and it is sad..but he made me laugh and cry in his movies and I think that this bunch of guys were great

  • George plays Bass on this song

  • You got it wrong, Hazel. While it's true that John Lennon and Peter Fonda were tripping together on one particular afternoon in L.A., Fonda was the one who proclaimed that he knew what it was like to die--from his failed suicide attempt!. Needless to say, it made an impression on Lennon and hence, the song. How in the world you got it backwards is amazing, and rather pathetic.

  • @Oenodork And you were there as he said it of course ....

  • @Oenodork I.ve read fonda kept repeating "i know what its like to be dead" he was giving Lennon the shits anf freaking him out and he told him to shut the fuck up

  • @Oenodork i dont think it was a suicide attempt....the guy was 10 yrs old. playing with his daddys gun. just a dumb kid who made a fucked up accident happen lol

  • Acid is the best drug out there. I've only tried it about 4 times, but every time was a amazing experience.

  • @FuzztoneProductions 4 times is probably enough mate.

  • @FuzztoneProductions lucky....its unheard of in my circleof friends out here in Socal

  • listen to the fucken msg in the song then make ur own reasons

  • relating, lol. I totally understand this song haha.

    acid is deeep.

  • She Said She Said, great song. Easy Rider, great movie.

  • I took this song to be about fending off the negativity of someone who's trying to to come on with false wisdom and aggrandize themselves at the cost of your peace of mind, and possibly your sanity. I did some research that seemed to confirm this, and which seemed to indicate that Peter Fonda was the one who was being negative and false on this occasion, and Lennon was fending him off. hazel10987 seems to be posing the opposite scenario. Any opinions? I'm no Beatles expert (Love the song)

  • lmfao acid trip = great music

  • fukin gay comment...........

  • I love peter fonda for giving them this idea!

  • The best track on Revolver.

  • * PETER FONDA, YOU ARE MY ICON!! *

  • John Lennon certainly knows what it is like to be dead.

  • And no McCartney on this song. The 3 recorded without Paul.

  • haha peer pressure

  • and ya makin me feel kike ive never been born

  • Although, genetically/biologically, it is possible for 1 child to have 2 natural fathers and 2 natural mothers in the case of identical twin brothers marrying identical twin sisters. {These children, in relation to one another, are referred to as double cousins, rather than 1st cousins.} If identical triplets married identical triplets: all of their children would have 3 sets of parents & so forth.

  • rubber soul?

  • i had only heard the black keys cover of this before. now i have two versions of this song to love

  • The year was 1965 and the Beatles met Peter Fonda at a party in the Hollywood Hills. Fonda was obsessed with death because his mom committed suicide when he was a kid. He told John Lennon, "I know what it's like to be dead", I don't know exactly what Lennon said, and I'm not gonna go look it up, but to paraphrase, Lennon basically told him to "stick it up his ass". Fonda is the she in this song. If you youngsters don't believe me YOU go look it up.

  • @UprightBoltUpright

he answered : who put all that shit in your head?

  • In 1967 Peter Fonda met John Lennon in a fest and told him: She Said She Said, Man.

  • This song hypnotize me the guitar the drums the voice

Revolver is always at #1 to #3 in the greatest albums of all time

  • Peter Fonda.

  • who the hells that guy?

  • It's Peter Fonda.

  • GOD why can't I get The Beatles music on my fuckin ipod.

  • @ItsUrFavoriteGuy

it sucks i know. you have to buy all the cds and download them to the itunes home page. its much easier now with the new cds because before you would have had to wait forever or at least on my computer.

  • @Miltonbryan93 It is easier to get and MP3 player with RCA on it and download RCA on the computer and put a cd in the tower and rip off the music to the MP3 player doesn't damage the cd or device and legal!

  • buy the CDs.

  • @ItsUrFavoriteGuy limewire?

  • The Vh1 channel list the 100 greatest albums ever: the Beatles have 5 albums... between 1-11 the first place is for Revolver and the farthest album is 11!!! imagine between 1-11 they leave only 6 places because they have 5 amazing GREATEST BAND EVER and amazing song too

  • I don't want to talk about the lsd or something but this is an very very amazing some but this is so much underrated this is unique!!

  • The Beatles were hanging out with The Byrds in L.A. after their concert tour. Peter Fonda came in a little later and kept going up to John, whispering, "I know what it's like to be dead." Fonda was referring to an acid trip he had been on. There is a rumor that Fonda meant that the phrase referred to surgery that he had and temporarily died on the operating table. But I dont buy that story.

  • @Kenoman29 Fonda was not referring to an acid trip, he was referring to a time he shot himself with a gun and was almost was near death as a kid.....

  • @danielashtiani....Hmm...thats interesting. Never heard that one before. I'll do some more research if I find anything and let you know. Thanks for the info.

  • Picture life as if you never existed...we are...:>)

  • What does it feel like to have never been born???!?!?!! Plz someone help me, it's for a school essay.

  • All the Beatles were on LSD. Fonda said I know whats it like to be dead, than many bandmates were pissed at fonda for mentioning death on LSD and lennon said Your making me feel like i have never been born

  • @danielashtiani Paul wasn't on LSD

  • @ManyPossibleNames

    Thanks for the correction

  • only lsd get tell you

  • The time has come for you to seek new levels of reality. Your ego and the rock and roll game are about to cease. You are about to set face to face with Clear Light. That which is called ego-death is coming to you. That is now the hour of death and rebirth. Do not fear it. Surrender to it. Join it. It is part of you. You are part of it. Your ego and the rock and roll game are about to cease.
  • @SOUPRUN01

in the words of the blessed virgin, come again?

  • erm. contributing to the collective unconscious by killing your ego and rock stars. surrendering yourself to something ever so slightly bigger than reality.

  • It's like going to a public school.

  • BTW...the movie is crap, just hear the music.

  • Revolver is the best album/release of all time. Challenge this fact.

  • here's my challenge: other beatles albums!

but actually revolver is one of my favorite beatles albums... but it really depends on my mood and what i haven't heard in awhile.

  • @mellamosean REVOLVER I THINK IS THE BEST BUT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER HAD THEY LEFT YELLOW SUB AS A B SIDE SINGLE AND INCLUDED DAY TRIPPER OR WE CAN WORK IT OUT "BEATLES FOR SALE"

    THE WORST!!!

  • @Joohhvis I think I'll accept that challenge... The White Album!

  • @Joohhvis

another challenge - sgt pepper! - 'she's leaving home' & 'a day in the life' are just too perfect

  • @longview1987 and fixing a hole, and LSwithD, and mr. kite, and good morning, good morning, etc.

  • @Joohhvis Amen!!!

  • @Joohhvis Sgt. Pepper just challenged your fact, and won.

  • @Joohhvis Em, the white album is better for starters. So is Talking Book and Fullfillingness First finale by Stevie Wonder.

  • @Joohhvis The only thing that could challenge it might be another Beatles album. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band... Rubber Soul... The White Album... And yeah, Revolver...

Like trying to pick between a Rolls Royce, a Porsche, a Jaguar and a Ferrari

  • @SDChargersForever

Actually the 'Magical Mystery Tour' album has an atmosphere and brilliance to it that seems to have been overlooked and it is my fav.Beatles album but yes I have their boxset as all their albums are truly awesome.

  • @onthemoveagain how much was the boxset?

  • @Joohhvis This was their turning point album.. Old Beatles to Mature Beatles.

  • @Trixisforkidz I would argue that it started with Rubber Soul, even the Title hints at it

  • @Trixisforkidz hint as in that is a really intense album name for a release in 1965

  • @Joohhvis A bold and dare I say foolhardy statement..........Your statement clearly predicates that you have never been introduced to Bucks Fizz Greatest Hits ???

  • Comment removed

  • @Joohhvis i can challenge it oh wait no i cnt

  • @Joohhvis pet sounds?

  • @truthasfineprint thats the beach boys

  • @legosk8r11 i know,, theyre the greatest band

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @Joohhvis No argument here.

  • @Joohhvis Im sorry but I cant challenge you on that! REVOLVER IS THE GREATEST!

  • 2:20 to the end... greatest. drumming. ever

  • Very cool song, especially the drums ....

  • funny video... very esoteric

  • these beatles songs are better than the ones released as singles.

  • Revolver kicks ass.

  • "I think I'm going to die man," he said; but Peter Fonda reassured him. "I know what it's like to be dead..."

    ~

Mm, yeah but there's more to it.

Peter kept saying it over and over again. He wouldn't stop. And also interesting fact, it was only the second time John had used Acid and the first time he knew what he was taking. The first time it was slipped into this drink at a party by his dentist.

  • @ickygardengnome You don't get Dentists like that anymore lol

  • @gards2 too bad, lol

  • I know what it's like to be dead

Well, that's what SHE said :P

  • That little tidbit of information is kind of cool to know. The song's great.

  • This is probably my 10th comment on the video saying the same thing but...

    best song ever

  • This is indie pop artist Robert Nix-'She Said She Said' sounds better with each passing listen-'All Things Must Pass' except for the greatness of The Beatle songs.

  • cool drum track

  • He is the most handsome man I ever laid eyes on (Peter Fonda). This also happens to be my favorite Beatles track.

  • That's what she said
