most of American sports are decided during the match (8:21 american football, or 80:65 basketball etc.)... Soccer is one of those sport where anything can happen. Last minute goals, underdog wins .. thats the fascination
@kunglauu I don't find that to be very true. Basketball can be won it the last minute, it's just not exciting because it's like the 300th point of the game. But American Football has amazing last minute drives.
Dont get me wrong, iam a huge fan of American sports. Of course there are also thrilling situations in American Sports, but those situations are more common in modern soccer. The goals are rarer and more unique.

Football, soccer, hockey, basketball, rugby, lacrosse, they all have the same goal, to get the ball from your end to their end and score in whatever way that game says. In games that have such similar principles as that with such similar time limits, you're going to have comebacks or things amazing happen. It's just the nature of competition. If anything I would say that basketball has more amazing finishes, or hockey OT(golden goal).

I remember my reaction to this so much. I was watching with my brother and my friend. I was lying on the floor, because I thought all hope was lost. Then this happened. I got up, and all three of us were yelling, and jumping, going crazy. I had never felt anything like that feeling before. I called everyone I knew, told them the news. At the end I was crying. This moment will last forever in my mind, it was a most incredible and emotional time. I watched the game and almost the entire World Cup in ESPN , and the commentators there did a great job, they felt and communicated the enthusiasm and emotion of the game in their own American way, they just don't scream out the goals that way. The Mexican commentators are pretty good, but unfortunately very bias too, they always show favoritism for the Latin-American teams whenever they play the USA team....

As long as talented youngsters are picking basketball and football over soccer, the USA will never produce a team worthy of winning or even challenging a world cup. @alexlvnv1688 Our youth system is actually pretty good. The problem is the natural talent players usually have dual citizenship and elect to play overseas and for their second country. Also money is an issue. The highest paid MLS player makes middle of the road salary in the other major sports. Also soccer is more of a team game without big time stars. Big names= Big money and big draw. Soccer doesn't have that sadly.

Football, soccer, hockey, basketball, rugby, lacrosse, they all have the same goal, to get the ball from your end to their end and score in whatever way that game says. In games that have such similar principles as that with such similar time limits, you're going to have comebacks or things amazing happen. It's just the nature of competition. If anything I would say that basketball has more amazing finishes, or hockey OT(golden goal).

The announcer was right...the US had fought so hard, tried so hard for that moment and they completely deserved this goal!!! QUE GOLASO! Btw it is just kinda tradition to yell goooooooool and it just wouldn't be the same w/o it. When I change channels to the english version the announcers are sooo quiet it's annoying and awkward; on the other hand the spanish version announcers just can't stfu..also annoying!!! By comparison I'd say the spanish version usually gets more emotional :p

I remember my reaction to this so much. I was watching with my brother and my friend. I was lying on the floor, because I thought all hope was lost. Then this happened. I got up, and all three of us were yelling, and jumping, going crazy. I had never felt anything like that feeling before. I called everyone I knew, told them the news. At the end I was crying. This moment will last forever in my mind, it was a most incredible and emotional time. I watched the game and almost the entire World Cup in ESPN , and the commentators there did a great job, they felt and communicated the enthusiasm and emotion of the game in their own American way, they just don't scream out the goals that way. The Mexican commentators are pretty good, but unfortunately very bias too, they always show favoritism for the Latin-American teams whenever they play the USA team....

lol when I saw this I was at home alone in my bed with the room light out. When donovan scored I ran all throughout the house shirtless yelling YEEAAAHHH at the top of my lungs. My voice was soar for the rest of the day. But this goal was worth it. it wasn't flashy or anything, but it was amazing

god, Univision's commentator's are terrible. I'm sure actual south american commentators are good, but this guy has no enthusiasm or creativity, he does the same thing everytime and it gets dull. the moment the goal is scored, whish should be the most exciting, is accompanied with a disappointed short 'goal'. It's clear that he is copying the long 'GOAL' but doesn't know what it is and doesn't give a crap. darke's was better. A memorable latin call was hondurans calling bornstein's 2009 goal

As long as talented youngsters are picking basketball and football over soccer, the USA will never produce a team worthy of winning or even challenging a world cup. U guys do realize that all the top athletes are not playing soccer, it is really a shame because USA has a big population and finding a Messi wont be too hard if youth training academies were better

@alexlvnv1688 Our youth system is actually pretty good. The problem is the natural talent players usually have dual citizenship and elect to play overseas and for their second country. Also money is an issue. The highest paid MLS player makes middle of the road salary in the other major sports. Also soccer is more of a team game without big time stars. Big names= Big money and big draw. Soccer doesn't have that sadly.

@crazyarms33 Exactly, no top athlete will pick soccer because the future does not look too bright for them. Basketball contracts pays you a fortune and so does football. So nobody in their right mind would pick soccer unless they truly love the sport
