Incredible, If you've ever been confused as to why Lupe Fiasco is so heralded.. watch this video, it's reasons like this I can't get with the times. Not when talent like this exists .. no sirreeee.
This was an amazing breakdown, but i feel compelled to inform you of one of the ones you missed. When he says "He loved the hungry ones was only scared of the feds" Obviously, the Feds are the Government (FDI), and the hungry ones are the ones who'll buy his product, but also, what's the opposite of a hungry person? One who's been... fed. Great play on words right there.
Dis da first time i've ever seen a rapper's song have a double meaning. he talks about fast food in america but then still tells da story of a drug dealer. smh. damn. lupe 1 of da best of all time. im glad sumone else listens 2 him like i do n not jus hear him like alot of other people do.
I realized that when he says 'the streets' I think he was referring to the character "The Streets" as well as the streets, you know the traffic one lol.
@sicvic0604 shit good catch and i think also for the fast food approach the feds could also mean the feds like from the streets part because if the restaurant isn't keeping their food actually safe to eat and the place sanitary and clean then they can get lawsuits and go out of business
I wanna make a correction in the lyrics. In the chorus it says: when niggas gotta eat that's when shit gets greasy. But the second time he sings it he says: when niggas got a heat that's when shit gets greazy. This is both describing the fast foods restaurants and the streets. Pure genius!
You my friend, are epic. Beautifully done. ANY song by Lupe you would like to breakdown, i would love to watch. As long as your doing more songs lol :] ... I'm sure i speak for everyone when i say this, thank you for your time and effort. We appreciate it :)
Son, no lie I had this epiphany last year in the 10th grade after owning the CD for years. I was mindblown! I knew Lupe was lyrical but then I looked at the name of the song and listened to it like 50 times before I caught everything, The only thing I didn't catch was the ketchup at the end of the first, thanks man! lol
nice job, oh n also this song has a lot to do with his Michael Young History's story, in fact hes probably talking about him and his drug dealing and how The Game wants to kill him, that's why he cant go to the pigs because The Game got em on his payroll, also its quite apparent in the beginning when the opening part says he wants to kill that n****a

Also the other day I kept repeating "loved the hungry ones, only scared of the Feds". Then it hit me!
In terms of the streets: loved the hungry ones (drug addicts, dealers, those who chase after money), only scared of the Feds (the Feds).
In terms of fast food: loved the hungry ones means they like the hungry people because they will be eager to guy at the restaurant.
Only scared if the Feds means they don't like the "fed" people as in those well fed and have already ate. Get it?
That's gen
