  • Great video

  • sleepy kitten in motion...nice

  • Wow the old cat at work great vid.

  • I love how the B&O appears from the faded Chessie lettering at1:09!!!!

  • How old is this footage?

  • Wow-great Chessie Geep40-2!

  • My Dad was the first Trick Conductor from '90 to '94 till he retired. It was all Conrail Blue

  • Love that old B&O lettering peeking through on #6506 :>)

  • Would have looked much better in CONRAIL blue.

  • LOL @ 4:18. Why apply the handbrake before your work is done?

  • I'd assume this is about 1992..

  • changhe discription its #6506

  • that big cat is a beauty.....long live chessie

  • Chessie owns CSX at 3:15

  • Last time i saw a gp35 or any type of loco in a chessie paint was back in 93' when i was 9 during vacation in florida. Ill Never forget seeing it, coming from the north in MA and only used to seeing nothing but conrail this paint scheme stuck out and made a memoriable moment for me. love this railroad

  • OK, I go absolutely gaga over the Chessie system paint scheme, I want to see more of it because I cant stand the dreary and sick blue and gray scheme of CSX!

  • This unit may have been sold to a leasing company, I'm not completely sure, but that's what I've been told. Long live Chessie.

  • what year was this taken in? just wondering on account of the chessie unit.

  • great video 5*

  • Long Live the Big Cat - Keep on working Chessie.

  • they downgraded that yard to 2 tracks didnt they?

  • mas lo veo mas me gusta excelente video felicitaciones.

  • nice to see csx and chessie working together

  • you know that CSX is chessie right?

  • chessie looks better than that csx unit on even her bad day

  • I agree, great to see a loco still wearing Chessie paint. I don't know why CSX doesn't do what UP has done with the "Heritage" units, paint up some units in Chessie, Seaboard, etc paint. GEVO's wearing Chessie and Seaboard paint, anyone?

  • i agree 100%. With the last C&O and sebaord units being painted over recently i think it would be great to see them out on the road agian. Long live chessie!

  • Love That Chessie Cat Working Hard

  • A good find. Nice to see the Cat still working, I sure miss the good ol days when the kitty was still roaming the system ..

  • thats one badass train engine it seems like Freight Trains command a lot of respect like there carrying something really really important what do they carry that they command all that respect for???

  • I never understood why the Chessie cat logo had to go away. If C stands for Chessie and the S stands for seaboard system, why couldn't they just have put the Chessie cat logo in the regular C's place?

  • Nice pic of three engines side by side. Lansdale yard gets all sorts of interesting stuff for a small yard.

  • omg i love this yard its so nice

  • mmm love that loco sound

  • thats neat to see the b&o paint showing

  • what was that guy pumping on the chessie cat loco

  • Setting the hand brake

  • last cat was 10-12 years ago would love to see one again

  • that was great!! i liked how the train done its work.

  • I was very blessed to have grown up in the late 1970s and early 1980s in the Appalachian coal-fields of eastern Kentucky when Chessie System was in her "hay day." I saw it all, Chessie System Paint, C&O Paint, B&O Paint, even some Western Maryland Paint in the locomotive consists. I even saw on rare occasions pure GP7 and GP9 consists pulling loaded coal-drags. There is no other sound like 4 or 5 GP9s throttling up all in unison through all 8 notches. I miss those days.

  • I agree, I started watching trains with my grandfather when I was 5 years old in 1979 in cincinnati. There were tracks behind our house. Chessie C&O, B&O and WM was all over along with Conrail, Norfolk and Western and grand trunk. I got to see them all, then when I was 12 I noticed a new company CSX, and Norfolk Southern. then as the years went on I saw less of Chessie. I saw a Chessie loco in 05, 9122 was the number. From what I understand there are only 3 Chessie locos left.

  • ONLY 3 out of all :O

  • The good ole days...Miss the Chessie

  • Great to see the cat! Thanks for posting!

  • Nicely done. My last cat was 6629 in June 2001.-Jeffrey

  • when was this taken????????

  • March 2000

  • @oaksmodelrr damn!

  • Wow a Kitty Cat Loco. I haven't seen one in years. That was one good looking paint job.

  • You are so lucky! up here in Mich. there`s squat! "all gone mostly" :*(

  • Yup, can't remeber the last time I saw one here (grew up in Plymouth in the '70s and '80s).

  • I don't like disco but as that old disco song goes..... That's the way uh huh uh uhuh L ikie it uh huh uhuh great footage.

  • wow rare locomotive, when was this tape filmed

  • I see the original B&O lettering is showing through on the hood doors.

  • I love the Chessie locomotives. Best looking paint scheme imo. I remember seeing Chessie locomotives alot before the SCL/L&N Family lines merger in the early 80's. Good memories.

  • >what is that clicking sound?< that's the air-dryer. Since trains obviously use compressed air to engage and disengage the brakes, they need air compressors. As you compress air, any moisture in it condenses. this water can damage the brake lines, so locomotives have "air dryers" they just expell any water out of the air tanks.

  • i think that clicking is the sanding stuff

man im glad to see a chessie, havent seen one of those since i was a young kid, my mum always tells me of yelling chessie when i saw the cat

  • It's its turn signal lol

  • its nice to see a Chessie locomotive again. I haven't seen one in operation since I was a young boy in the 80's.

  • what is that clicking sound?

  • At the end, that is the handbrake being applied.

  • By the ditchlights i would say this was shot between 1994 and 2000

  • Actually thats a GP40

  • thats actually csx 6506

  • a yellow kitty cat train rare in this area

  • wow, great video man, must have been filmed a good bit ago or you just had a lucky day, a chessie and two YN1's not a single YN2 around! thanks for sharing

  • GP40-2

  • that yellow cat on the chesseie is that a old gp29 or 30?

  • Nice, I like the B&O fading through... glad to see some vintage stuff on here, you can only watch so many clips of GE's on intermodals and coal drags!!

  • Sweet ! What year was this from ?

  • Doing some research, I found the loco was sold to Locomotive Leasing Partners in 2000, so the vid is from before 2000.
