I think this was conceptually far better than the CGI version that finally appeared, although technically as good. It was great to hear Francis Matthews and Ed Bishop in their old roles, but sadly Donald Gray who did Colnel White/ Captain Black and the Mysteron voice had since passed away. His replacement in the new version played by Mike Hayley was eerily similar.

I believe the idea of Captain Black rising from the grave was symbolism. It wasn't telling us he'd died and come back it was showing the old series had returned from 60s limbo. Sadly this wasn't what we actually got when the show did appear.

They should have kept the CGI series closer to this. This actually is Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. The show we ended up with was something else completely. Okay, but not Captain Scarlet. The voice of the Mysterons was a lot better in the old puppet show, though.

I much prefer what Anderson ended up with- New Captain Scarlet's his best series as far as I'm concerned. Trying to remake or continue the original series would have been a mistake.

For a taster it was all right. Voice acting was awful, but for 2000, that was pretty good.

It was the marionettes and scale model effects that gave old Gerry Anderson shows their own characters (it sure wasn't the writing). Rendered in another form of animations makes this work directly comparable to other animation shows, and its not winning. Ridiculously stiff as they were, I still want my damn puppets!

First time i've seen this (The Series they made i've seen but not this).

The Scripting doesn't quite fit & Captain Blue's Accent is Annoying (then again it always is in all versions of him) but otherwise very good.

I Attually prefer the Original Version of the Car (The original Rhino is good too, My Favourate 1960's Episode i've seen was when She takes on a Runaway Automated Main Battle Tank... & Win's, Somehow).

Have to admit I like what they ultimately decided on better than this. Looks more than real people and less like animated puppets. The older voices don't help as they are the wrong age for the characters they're supposed to be portraying.

Magnificent! I remember, so many years ago when I was a kid, that the Mysterons could be all around us, they were far more frightening than The Hood because they were hell bent on killing us all! When you're a 5 or 6 year old that's the way your mind works - well, mine did, anyway. This trailer encapsulated it beautifully. I'm still puzzled as to why Captain Scarlet turned from bad guy to good guy just because he fell off a tower but that's for another day ^_^ Superb!

The 1st time i saw the original puppets series i was 5years old and i got it in dvd box set like the other Gerry Anderson's series. This trailler are AWESOME.

I think it's the voice of FRANCIS MATHIEW cpt SCARLET and the late ED BISHOP for CPT BLUE who did the original voices of this legendary persona.

The original actors were used for this but not the full series which followed in 2005. By that point the CGI and designs had evolved considerably and the series was IMO quite brilliant

Yes i like also puppets better,but the great thing is that they keep the tradition by making them with the same uniforms and stuff, almost same voices.Exept ofcourse those are the same actors.Because in the oldest series was no conclution at all they must continue the story to give one,thats why they created that sgi stuff.They must sit down and think how to make a movie.

Does anyone have the other CGI trailer? All I can remember of it is a rather digitised sounding mysteron voice that says "We will start with the destruction and retromotabolism of all spectrum agents" Wasnt quite as nice to look at as this version, and the last time I had the clip its really badly pixellated.

Well, he was overtaken by the Mysterons in the first episode of this series. This means he was dead.

Not exactly, the Mysterons are capable of mind control also, they need to kill the host to gain complete control of the body. This is why in the original series Captain Black acted mysteriously on Mars before returning to Earth. Whether or not they killed him was never explained.

Black is, why did his appearance change and voice change after he was taken over by the mysterons? all the other mysteron replicants have the same voice and appearance after they have been taken over but Black was the exception. Since he spoke with exactly the same voice as the mysterons on mars maybe he was the mysterons messenger and assassin, as he is the one who usually enegineers the "accidents" on the series

This is SOOOOO MUCH BETTER than the actual series! The facial expressions are all absolutely perfect and spot-on. How did they not manage to pull those off on the series, which had a bigger budget? So wish Francis Matthews and Ed Bishop had been brought back to voice Scarlet and Blue, like they did for this trailer.

Wow! The animation may not be better than the actual series years later, but this pilot really captured the spirit of the original. From the Spectrum logo, to the Mysteron's voice intro, to the Ed Bishop impression for Captain Blue, to the dead-on Cary Grant voice for Captain Scarlet, this was great. Too bad there were so many copyright issues that bogged down the actual CGI series (and poor marketing by the BBC). Oh well, at least WE all know how cool Captain Scarlet was (and could still be)!
