Paul Boesch was the godfather of wrestling in Houston. He made the events happen at the Sam Houston Coliseum which was the marquee wrestling venue in the central U.S. Good memories.
You need to lock these tapes in a lead vault;) The magnetic field from the earth is going to make them worst over time. Or just keep them saved on CD's. Anyway thanks for all of your postings.
Our cauliflower-eared wrestling (pronounced rasslin') announcer is the late Paul Boesch. My favorite memory is when he'd shill between matches for "Doggie Odor Gone" with his dog, Judo.
And you guys help me out here, the voice-over announcer with that caramel-thick bass vibrato, who is he? He'd appear on camera from time to time and had a mustache. Can't recall his name.
did you ever see the one where Paul Boesch is wearing diamond earrings and the camera rotates around him while he says "if IW Marks Can make me look beautiful, imagine what they can do for you". lol
That was the one I was refering too. They only showed it once or twice and that was it. Only other time was when they did a salute to Paul Boesch after he passed away.
I can't believe you've posted all of this here. Thank you! I grew up in Houston, and I watched this channel a lot. (Mainly because my cousin babysat me and I had no choice - lol). I used to attend the local wrestling matches at the Coliseum and I'd see the broadcasting trucks there. I'm just trembling watching all this. Thanks again.

Can you Post some old KRIV and KTXH stuff too.

Sure, I have less of both but I can put something together.

KRIV was, and may still be, Channel 26, yes?
I recall the early 70s when Channel 26 was KVRL and had a slogan "KVRL 26: It's an Eye Ball!"
For a short while in the 70s, 26 was KDOG and had a logo in the shape of a pooch.
There, I've turned loose of a little more mindclutter. Thanks for giving me the occasion!
