honestly there are a few things i would keep from da 2 maybe dull the combat down again im not a fan of mashing the a button just to do regular attacks, but it didnt need to be that over dramatic , taking the dialogue wheel thing from mass effect and saying its new and think we are idiots not to realise it also people the reason your not playing as a grey warden in the second one is cause a the darkspawn threat is not as big as it is during a blight etc running out of space sorry more to say :(
Though one clearly has a dominating story you have to count for DA2 still having a pretty fun story, I'm not saying it's great but it's not bad. I did enjoy DA1 story but the combat was rather plain, despite taking down the Archdemon a dozen plus times it would be more fun to take down Templar's and Mages in DA2 then it is to kill Darkspawn so much in DA1 (and I like how DA2 was mage orientated mainly, it's my favorite class after all).

@AlpineAlGaming i loved da2 i just missed the darkspawn and basiclly the greywardens from the first. the two games kinda dont fit with each other. ut i love them both. but when third comes out i hope it like da2 but with my old grey warden char and darkspawn and so on.

@XxHrallundeadrogueXx Good point, but what I think is the Wardens story and the champions story may be leading up to some kind of epic war against an unkown anemy. I think DA2 and Origins are just setting the story and telling you what the game has to offer for upcoming dragon age games.

None of your choices made a big difference, the story ened on a huge cliffhanger, half the areas in the game were recycled and there were only about three different major ones, you only got to talk to your companions about 8 times thorughout the entire game, the graphics were just as bad if not worse than Origins', and they put loot in the game that was literally called and is junk.So, yeah, that's why I'm complaining. Just my opinion, though.

@JayPCM it's because DA 2 was the story of Hawke, who was a human. DA:O is the story of the warden who is the race and origin you choose. If you don't choose Dalish elf, he/she dies with Tamlin. If you don't choose City Elf, the earls son is never killed. But some stories happen regardless. Noble dwarf happens, but he's never found by Duncan, because he found you instead. Noble human is killed by Howe, so it also happens. That is what I don't like with DA:O. Some happen regardless and some don't

The combat system is ok but marred with stupidity like warriors can't bow and mages can't armor up. story is ridiculously stupid in almost every aspect of screenplay writing. returning characters are butchered from their older counterparts, the only thing i liked was the fact that they actually dwelled deeper into the qunari but they did nothing to make the final boss even exciting after all the dreaded samemaps you go through.
@danberner I was a mage, bloodmage tank, Upped strength magic and constitution then slapped on some armour. The combat wasn't "ok" but far superior. Rogues were actually worth a damn, and skills weren't horribly retarded. And elves weren't 4'9" tards with pointy ears and character customization was by far better than Origins. The idea was to explain what happend outside of the area of Origins and it did, now shut up, sit down, and wait for DA3.
@kenykiller1994 You're entitled to your opinion, but if DA3 decides to go back to using the combat style from Origins it will be a disaster. After what they did with number 2, reverting to that slow, one-click kind of combat would just seem pointless, though I agree that DA2 was pretty useless......

-Over-recycled maps and dungeons

Some people simply rage against this things. Of course, there are several good points, and I really liked the game. But it isn't as good as Origins.
okay, the story blows, the character is voiced (witch sucks), the combat is so over the top, you character (hawke) is preatty much already done for you... you only get to chose between 3 diffrient hawkes. And at last... Carver, the most whiny and anoying character in the whole game industry.

@AlpineAlGaming it was far too rushed... no game should have 20 min. of game time, 1 map for all levels, and the skill trees were crap. i had to spend 8 points in primal in order for my mage to have that galvanism ability >:( also i wanted to customize my companions like how it was in the original... it was ok, but i think they could've done a better job and not do a half ass piece o' shit and call it da2... oh well, hopefully da3 will be better
The story wasn't "that bad" but "ok" isn't good enough for a story-driven RPG. For a story-driven RPG, the story blew. The combat and graphics were just about the only thing better. It should've been called Dragon Age: Kirkwall.
How was the combat better? It was faster and more button mashy. The story was fine, and the ending was epic. However, the companions were boring and the environments were repetitive as hell. Not to mention the dialogue system is way worse and you can't talk to people as often (not that they were interesting enough to talk to in the first place). Overall, Ferelden was just way bigger and a more interesting world to be in than Kirkwall.
@AlpineAlGaming To be honest, I liked DA1 more than DA2. DA1 had more of a customization ability, right down to armor types and such. DA2 was far too limited in my opinion. =\

DA2 was a joke! the same shitty city. and same maps! and they took away being able to customize your partys gear! and got rid of the party camp. which was my favourite listering to the charecters storys. in DAO i felt more of a connection with my charectcer and the other party memebers. DA2 was told throught a frickin story book. so when varric was telling you what was happing you pretty much guessed what was going to happen. I could go on all day.
I really enjoyed Dragon Age 2 as well and I agree with everything you just said. I also really like that my character had a voice. I guess the main complaint I have is that the scenery doesnt change enough. 85% of the game was spent in the same city. Other than that 2 thumbs up!
@N2RAS The Combat was really really bad, the spawning enemys ruined EVERY Try to bring a little tactic into the combat, They reused so many enviroments that it was just like a slap in the face.
The Role playing aspect was pretty much ruined because it didn't made a difference which answer you choose. All the so called "decisions" made NO difference. Not in the game, not in the story

@AlpineAlGaming The story was alright. Act 2 was by far the best part. Act 1 was pretty good, but tedious, and Act 3 was just boring, apart from the ending. The combat was a bit better, but the lack of tactics was quite annoying.
However, the companions were boring, save for Varric and possibly Isabella, your choices had little effect on the outcome of the story, the zones were re-used, you could only play as a human, it all took place in one city and it felt rushed overall.

the character creation isn't a problem, in my opinion. i actually made a guy similar looking to me :3 but the story wasn't well, done, they kind of slacked on the other parts just to improve the combat so much :P i still liked it, though.

If you don't choose City Elf, the earls son is never killed. But some stories happen regardless. Noble dwarf happens, but he's never found by Duncan, because he found you instead. Noble human is killed by Howe, so it also happens. That is what I don't like with DA:O. Some happen regardless and some don't

@AlpineAlGaming the whole thing overall was worse than DA Origins. The combat system is ok but marred with stupidity like warriors can't bow and mages can't armor up. story is ridiculously stupid in almost every aspect of screenplay writing. returning characters are butchered from their older counterparts, the only thing i liked was the fact that they actually dwelled deeper into the qunari but they did nothing to make the final boss even exciting after all the dreaded samemaps you go through.

@danberner I was a mage, bloodmage tank, Upped strength magic and constitution then slapped on some armour. The combat wasn't "ok" but far superior. Rogues were actually worth a damn, and skills weren't horribly retarded. And elves weren't 4'9" tards with pointy ears and character customization was by far better than Origins. The idea was to explain what happend outside of the area of Origins and it did, now shut up, sit down, and wait for DA3.

@kenykiller1994 You're entitled to your opinion, but if DA3 decides to go back to using the combat style from Origins it will be a disaster. After what they did with number 2, reverting to that slow, one-click kind of combat would just seem pointless, though I agree that DA2 was pretty useless......

-Over-recycled maps and dungeons
-Waves and Waves of filler enemies (that also spawn out of thin air. Seriously, Dwarfs jumping off of buildings three-stories tall and falling battle-ready?)
-The animations were better, but the combat looked more chaotic.
Some people simply rage against this things. Of course, there are several good points, and I really liked the game. But it isn't as good as Origins.

okay, the story blows, the character is voiced (witch sucks), the combat is so over the top, you character (hawke) is preatty much already done for you... you only get to chose between 3 diffrient hawkes. And at last... Carver, the most whiny and anoying character in the whole game industry.

@AlpineAlGaming recycled maps, no direction, characters are no where near as good, combat wasnt much different, it was just faster, which made it crap, because enemies took just as long to kill therefor making combat seem more repetitive, most of the game was based in one city.., u can only play as a human, u go to the same dungeons multiple times, and not new areas of dungeons, just the same places, there was no real villain or memorable antagonist, the story was mediocre.

@AlpineAlGaming it was far too rushed... no game should have 20 min. of game time, 1 map for all levels, and the skill trees were crap. i had to spend 8 points in primal in order for my mage to have that galvanism ability >:( also i wanted to customize my companions like how it was in the original... it was ok, but i think they could've done a better job and not do a half ass piece o' shit and call it da2... oh well, hopefully da3 will be better

How was the combat better? It was faster and more button mashy. The story was fine, and the ending was epic. However, the companions were boring and the environments were repetitive as hell. Not to mention the dialogue system is way worse and you can't talk to people as often (not that they were interesting enough to talk to in the first place). Overall, Ferelden was just way bigger and a more interesting world to be in than Kirkwall.

DA2 was a joke! the same shitty city. and same maps! and they took away being able to customize your partys gear! and got rid of the party camp. which was my favourite listering to the charecters storys. in DAO i felt more of a connection with my charectcer and the other party memebers. DA2 was told throught a frickin story book. so when varric was telling you what was happing you pretty much guessed what was going to happen. I could go on all day.

I really enjoyed Dragon Age 2 as well and I agree with everything you just said. I also really like that my character had a voice. I guess the main complaint I have is that the scenery doesnt change enough. 85% of the game was spent in the same city. Other than that 2 thumbs up!

@N2RAS The Combat was really really bad, the spawning enemys ruined EVERY Try to bring a little tactic into the combat, They reused so many enviroments that it was just like a slap in the face.
The Role playing aspect was pretty much ruined because it didn't made a difference which answer you choose. All the so called "decisions" made NO difference. Not in the game, not in the story

@AlpineAlGaming The story was alright. Act 2 was by far the best part. Act 1 was pretty good, but tedious, and Act 3 was just boring, apart from the ending. The combat was a bit better, but the lack of tactics was quite annoying.
However, the companions were boring, save for Varric and possibly Isabella, your choices had little effect on the outcome of the story, the zones were re-used, you could only play as a human, it all took place in one city and it felt rushed overall.
