A guitar is a very personal instrument and every guitarist is different. Each has their own person needs, tastes, feel and an individual view of the perfect tone!. There is no correct answer to this question use the guitar that you feel suits you best! and just ROCK OUT!!! and enjoy yourself isn't that what the guitar is all about?
BTW @ flaggism : I just bought and stratcaster (waiting for shipment) and planned on modding it up,like you described. What are EMGS! Newb to guitar playing!
a great guitar player can see the bright side of a guitar ... every good brand like gibson , fender , prs , ibanez have great instrument and different style of guitar !!! I love them all ^^
How do you define "best"? Least expensive? Most versatile? Most attractive? Most features? Simplest design? Lightest? Strongest? Loudest?
Guitars are different. If you want a Fender Strat sound and feel, then a Gibson Les Paul won't do. If you want a Gibson Les Paul sound and feel, then a Fender Strat won't do. That's why most pro's own a variety of guitars.
Ive had almost everyone there is and it comes down to buying a $70 squire strat and replaced the neck, pickups and wiring,,,now it sounds the way i like...Dont just go with the flow, build your own,,,you will be very glad you did...Also dont forget the EMGS!!!!
Yamaha makes the best value in expense to sense.....Ibanez make some good guitars as well for reasonable cost as does Dean.Fender Jazzmaster and Jag models are their coolest designs followed by the Tele but they are not cheap price wise.Consider scale length also when buying a guitar.Fender is typically the longest at 25.5" and Gibson shortest at 24.75".Rickenbackers and Mosrites are 25".There really is no best only a matter of taste and feel.
My opinion is simple .... EVERYONE has their own opinion and take on what is BEST ...
BUT .. those in the know will tell you that NONE are "THE BEST" ... each and every guitar has its own feel, tone, vibe and appeal.
I have three "BEST" guitars right now
- My Gibson Les Paul (USA)
- My Fender Strat (USA)
- My Schecter C1 Classic (Korean)
Each has its own characteristics I LOVE. And what I can get out of one, I can't always get out of another. Strat is Not a LP, LP is not a strat, etc,etc
I always get totally hacked off when I see questions like this; and the other favourite: who is the best guitarist? THERE IS NO SUCH THING!!! When will you people get it into your heads that what is the "best" is purely personal taste, nothing more, nothing less. Some like Fender; some like Gibson; some like Ibanez etc etc etc. Some like Hendrix; some like Page; some like Gilmour etc etc etc!!! Get real - does it really matter to anybody? You like what you like and that's it, end of!!!!!!!
Each company sort of caters to a different style of music/playing style. You don't show up at a jazz bar with a dean razorback...
Each company also has different models for different levels of playing (squire bullet vs. SRV stratocaster... So there's really no concrete answer to the question.
Currently, I'm starting a love affair with a blood red BC Rich Mockingbird ST that my son is giving me for a Christmas/48th b-day present...in the 35 years I've been playing, I've owned Gibsons, Epiphones, Ibanez, Hamers, Fenders, Deans, Hondo IIs, several generic knockoffs, and the only two that have stood the test of time are my mid 80s Hamer Vector V and my '79 Epiphone Genesis Standard...although I'm *really* loving the BC! My verdict: it's a 3 way tie between BC Rich, Hamer and my Epiphone!
Parker, without a doubt. I'd like other guitars too, for fun, but nothing that plays so smooth as my Fly Mojo Flame and it has such a beautiful tone for rock, big fat warm heavy stuff, jazz, twangy tele sounds, and "thin" funk. One of my friends (with quite a bit of cash) wet out and bought a £3k Fly Mojo less than a week of first trying mine as he liked it so much!
Thank you for the demonstration! I was getting a B.C. Rich Warlock, so I wanted a demonstration of B.C. Rich quality because I know Kerry King of Slayer and Chris Poland (formerly) of Megadeth used B.C. Rich guitars.
@acoop777 I like ibanez because its cheap plays pretty well and is good for beginners personally for a average player and above Fender is the best choice.
It's the brands that you probably never heard of that are the best guitars. There are independent luthiers that build custom guitars that make any of these look like childs' toys.
Anyone who knew anything about guitars would point out the difference in scale length, ie. Gibsons have a shorter scale length than Fenders, and are therefore a bit kinder to those with short fingers. This also applies to copies of Gibsons and Fenders. Also, guitars with humbucker type pickups can be made more versatile by using a coil tap. Personally, I don't like the feel or scale length of Fenders as I'm more used to Gibson's slightly shorter scale.
@CrankCase08 Ditto. Plus there's the Nut Width and Neck Radius differences between the Fender and Gibson to consider too. For me the Fender's narrower nut & smaller radius fit my hands better. btw, If you like the Gibson short 24.75" scale look at the new Fender Jag Blacktop HH. They went old school (60's Student Models) and has a 24" scale but has the typical Fender nut & neck dimensions. With the 2 Humbuckers its almost like the Strat and LP mated [I love my new Jaguar]
@Condor512 I've had a look at that Jaguar Blacktop. It makes me wonder what is going on in the heads of idiots that design some guitars because they keep putting pickup selector switches in places that makes them vulnerable to being hit. I have an extravagant style when playing chords and I'd be hitting that switch all the time. Plus the body is unnecessarily large, so adding extra weight. I'll stick to the well designed and more practical Les Paul - at least he knew what he was doing.
@CrankCase08 It's funny but I like the Jag for the reasons you don't. For me the Jag is a perfect fit. I like the location of the selector switch and the 'large body' isn't that heavy. Maybe the same as a Strat, or close to it. And it's style is that of the old student models. But all of this is why guitars are great - there's a brand, model & style that 'fits' everyone. If there was only one type of guitar that would be boring. And really suck ;-) Rock on!
From a design standpoint, Gibson is the worst guitar ever made! By design I mean things like glued in neck, no volute and pickup placement. Fender fails at many of these design features as well. The best guitars have 24 frets, pickups placed between the string vibration nodes, a volute on the neck, don't need string tree's, have a bolt on neck, and string through bridges. Very few commercial guitars have all these features. Some PRS models are very close. Independent luthier's make the best.
fender is now considered a walmart guitar.....not suprized since the thing is a total piece of shit now. everybody has one. they are extremely over rated. fuck fender and squier.
hahahah what a stupid video... every brand is good for other music, probably you want play blues and jazz with dean and jacksno, and probably you want play thrash and death metal with fender
I think it's really outrageous to put a vulgar and overrated guitarist like Slash in every ranking you can see on internet. Stop with this offensive mixture without regards for Page, Blackmore, Clapton, Gilmour, SRV.....
Well, if you look at the artists named in the top comments, all the gibson users had that heavier, edgier sense to them with the more flying finger types. While all the Fender users had a more expressed, relaxed style. So, guitar brand really comes from emotions and your genre of interest. I personally prefer Fender. Especially Telecasters!
the ibanez at 7:00 ist the best multistyle guitar u can get fpr 300 bucks, they serve all styles, none perfect though, but still best deal in that price range und u play different styles.
they have sound for any kind of music , they have really good body shape to have a good playability (custom 24 = 24 fret =santana model ,etc ) , really good quality and finishes (not overvalued)
I use gibson , but their guitars are way overvalued .
@losdepis I own 5 Prs guitars and appreciate their ergonomics and esthetics but for me nothing can replace a great Les Pual like my VOS 58 one....well except perhaps my Nik Huber Orca (an instrument made by a German luthier) which has exceptional tone, balance and looks (superior to PRS in my opinion)...check them out!
@losdepis prs is ugly as fuck, gay ass rainbow gay colours and homosexual birds on the fretboard, the shapes are terribly ugly and bland, round and shit, and they're overpriced as fuck
Jimmy Page, Angus Young, Slash, Keith Richards, B.B King, Billy Gibbons, Zak Wylde they are the Gibson thing
Jimmy Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Kurt Cobain, Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler they were the Fender thing so all i want to say is choose the ones you want, dont try to choose for the others
@iantwelf Dave Grohl sometimes i see him with an Explorer or a custom Les Paul, i just forgot, but in the comment i said Eric Clapton in the Fender team but he plays on a 58 Les Paul Sunburst a lot too, so i think that wasn't a good example
@R3yK1d I'd say that if you have one Gibson and one Fender (probably a Les Paul and a Stratocaster) then you have a complete guitar collection in terms of being able to get all the iconic historical sounds of the last 30 years of rock...but you are absolutely right no one should try to choose for others..for some one it could be just an Yabanez shredder type guitar or something else.
this really made gibson look bad ... sgs and les pauls dont usually sound like that unless their modded ... but anyway i prefer gibson and fender ... each just does things the other cant but they both sound great ... get both and youve got every sound your ever going to need ... unless you prefer shred ... for that you just cant beat an ibanez JS or gem
gee to be honest the best sounding guitar I heard there was the Fender which had a classic clear sound all the other ones sounded reputisuos same bull shit metal sound, I know a gibson les paul dont sound like that.
If money is not taken into account then the best (most consistently fantastic guitars) i would have to say would be Paul Reed Smith, although like i said, the're pricey
Fender Tele Custom, best guitar I ever bought. Strats are great, Teles do the job, Jazzmasters and Jaguars do great whammy work, Mustangs are a tad small for me but others like them. I'd go for a Tele Custom and then if that wouldn't work, I'd take it to any guitar by Gibson. Metal guitar brands make shit guitars with shitty thin necks that are the least versatile instruments known to man, fucking hate active pickups.
YOU ARE ALL IDIOTS!What are you doing??? You compare the BRANDS??There is no point of comparing the guitar brands...A good guitar doesn't depent on it's Brand,it depends on:
1st:The price
2nd:The style-shape
I wanna say that for example. There are clearly Gibsons that are better than Yamahas. But the oppositis existedd too really. This depends on its prise not on it's Brand. So people stop criticise the Brands, criticise the guitars!
B.c riches are shit but when it comes to versatility my experiences with dean are about the equivalent of B.C. rich they seem to be a higher quality metal guitar, but when it comes to metal, best bang for your buck in my opinion is schecter, Ibanez is mainly metal until you get into the $1000 + price range. I have no experience with ESP, Yamaha Isn't great but they would never put out a bad instrument, Fender is good for just about anything but truly shines whe it comes to blues same with Gibson
My comment about CARVIN guitars was not an endorsement as much as it was a comparison. I've recently seen guitars from both Gibson and Fender for upwards of $5000.. C'mon I mean seriously! I've played and owned both of these manufactor's guitars. Nothing special to me. I suggest before you go out and spend X amount on a particular brand try many brands and find YOUR sound. That's how I found CARVIN. I am not knocking Fender or Gibson,I'm just saying, that I would't pay some of their prices!!!
I remember many years ago when I was very young I was listening some some older gentlemen discuss the best cars on the market. The best comment that came out that conversation was that the best car for "you" was the one that you could afford. In today's guitar market most of the 'high end' guitar are so overpriced that its pathetic. With the way pricing of guitars are today,my 'quality for your money' award goes to CARVIN hands down!!! Not a company on the market can match them period!!!!.
BC Rich - us models are very good, and they have one of the finest custom shops (the guitars with the R logo), the one i tried had the best neck ever. Ibanez - great, im in love with the late 80's RGs. Dean - never tried one, ESP-awesome, even some ltds are awesome, Yamaha - underrated, by far best value for money, Fender - perfect. Gibson - some models have quality issues, but generally very good, especially tone-wise, jackson-cheaper models are pretty bad. My favourite you ask? PRS :D
Funny!

There is no best brand. It is like asking "what tree is the best ?"
The best guitar is the guitar that fits YOU the best. So, a hand custom made by a luthier (especially for you) should be the best choice.
ltdslide 2 months ago
you cant compare guitars, cause they are made for different kind of music so its not fair to compare them
Kenokke23 2 months ago
The recordings are kind of pointless...its pretty much 25% guitar and 75% amp when it comes to sound

the song you putted on gibson was sucks!

There is no 'best'. Obviously there are bad brands and good ones. But when it comes to decent brands it's personal preference and what works for you.

fender guitars are the best for me
gabdie99 2 months ago
Jimmy Page, Angus Young, Slash, Keith Richards, B.B King, Billy Gibbons, Zak Wylde they are the Gibson thing
Jimmy Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Kurt Cobain, Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler they were the Fender thing so all i want to say is choose the ones you want, dont try to choose for the others
And I personally like Gibson better

@R3yK1d keith richards plays a fender telecaster
slippp40 1 month ago
@R3yK1d Gibson all the way. Also you forgot Dave Grohl being under the Gibson thing :)
iantwelf 1 month ago
@iantwelf Dave Grohl sometimes i see him with an Explorer or a custom Les Paul, i just forgot, but in the comment i said Eric Clapton in the Fender team but he plays on a 58 Les Paul Sunburst a lot too, so i think that wasn't a good example
R3yK1d 1 month ago
@R3yK1d B.B also played a tele, Hendrix also played an SG, Johnson also played an sg, Beck also played a les paul, Richards also played strats/teles
7or6 1 month ago
@7or6 yap but BB usually shows up with the "Lucille", Hendrix with a strato, johnson too and whatev
R3yK1d 1 month ago
@R3yK1d keith richards uses mostly fenders ...and of course the les paul..anyway
dafronasmia 1 month ago
@R3yK1d I'd say that if you have one Gibson and one Fender (probably a Les Paul and a Stratocaster) then you have a complete guitar collection in terms of being able to get all the iconic historical sounds of the last 30 years of rock...but you are absolutely right no one should try to choose for others..for some one it could be just an Yabanez shredder type guitar or something else.

PAUL REED SMITH!! The highest quality, best sounding, best sustain, guitars money can buy.
MrDayd3 2 months ago
this really made gibson look bad ... sgs and les pauls dont usually sound like that unless their modded ... but anyway i prefer gibson and fender ... each just does things the other cant but they both sound great ... get both and youve got every sound your ever going to need ... unless you prefer shred ... for that you just cant beat an ibanez JS or gem
caulinrocker1 2 months ago
gee to be honest the best sounding guitar I heard there was the Fender which had a classic clear sound all the other ones sounded reputisuos same bull shit metal sound, I know a gibson les paul dont sound like that.

Warrior is the best. This is not arguable. Your preferences of whats best is merely your subjective opinion.
We can talk quality (or lack there of) of all brands lately, except for EBMM and Peavey Custom Shop.
JgHaverty 2 months ago
Ibanez is the best!! gibson is good.. fender is nice for bending, jackson is for metal, but yamaha is not my type

i made the right choice with the bc rich. my warlock is perfect
Multifatkid123 2 months ago
If money is not taken into account then the best (most consistently fantastic guitars) i would have to say would be Paul Reed Smith, although like i said, the're pricey
trigea 2 months ago
Fender Tele Custom, best guitar I ever bought. Strats are great, Teles do the job, Jazzmasters and Jaguars do great whammy work, Mustangs are a tad small for me but others like them. I'd go for a Tele Custom and then if that wouldn't work, I'd take it to any guitar by Gibson. Metal guitar brands make shit guitars with shitty thin necks that are the least versatile instruments known to man, fucking hate active pickups.

Dean is pure shit... Gibson and Fender Kick ass
Duroduro666 2 months ago
YOU ARE ALL IDIOTS!What are you doing??? You compare the BRANDS??There is no point of comparing the guitar brands...A good guitar doesn't depent on it's Brand,it depends on:
1st:The price
2nd:The style-shape
I wanna say that for example. There are clearly Gibsons that are better than Yamahas. But the oppositis existedd too really. This depends on its prise not on it's Brand. So people stop criticise the Brands, criticise the guitars!

i was just thinking, the last guitar"jackson" is amazing but not so expensive looking.......hehehehe i prefer ibanez or fender....

BC Rich - shit low end, awesome high end
Ibanez - early cheap stuff better than new expensive stuff
Dean - shit since dean left and formed DBZ (much better...)
ESP - hands down the best, even the LTD range beats Gibson etc.
Yamaha - mostly starter guitars, high end basses are awesome!
Fender - overpriced badly put together shit
Gibson - overpriced, shit, horrible craftmanship, horrible quality control, sound no diff from epi...
Jackson - great

B.c riches are shit but when it comes to versatility my experiences with dean are about the equivalent of B.C. rich they seem to be a higher quality metal guitar, but when it comes to metal, best bang for your buck in my opinion is schecter, Ibanez is mainly metal until you get into the $1000 + price range. I have no experience with ESP, Yamaha Isn't great but they would never put out a bad instrument, Fender is good for just about anything but truly shines whe it comes to blues same with Gibson

Tom Anderson Guitarworks. Nothing else comes close.
Jackson, Carvin, Dean and Ibanez=Best guitars for every style.
jfkdjfd 2 months ago

Not a company on the market can match them period!!!!.

the JEM is the coolest and nicest guitar ever made and schecters are also great guitars; they should be on ur list

PRS :D
