  • Allan, what the fuck where you thinking with that hairstyle????

  • Noam Chomsky interviewed by The Fifth Monkee...

  • Who are you people?

    'WE' are the government…

'WE' are the change WE need.

Who are 'WE'?…WE are the change the government (WE) need Yo!

  • Nim Chimpsky rules! The NYT won't publish him anymore and hasn't for decades.

  • @Tsnore NYT is owned and controlled by Zionist ideologues

  • I wonder how big the FBI file on this man is. I'm picturing a filing cabinet of his own. The sad thing is that he is allowed to say everything that he thinks. It shows how little it matters to the general worl-view of America. When the truth can't get a foothold the problem is way past fixing!

  • @paul1x1 Get-your-space-bar-fixed-!

  • @terrybeaton not-mine

  • America is a imperialist nation. Imperialist nations are the defenders of capitalism. But Russia and China are imperialist too. It is not only the USA. But Noam Chomsky is right about the nature of the America government. No matter who is president, the state will always support capitalism against workers and poor people. The American state will do whatever the capitalist class demand!

  • just to let everyone know you cant love hitchens and chomsky post 9/11

  • @churchjamespeter you are ignorant.

  • @metric09 why?

  • @churchjamespeter That was the theory, wasn't it?

  • America is PLANET R101 (assuming you know about the R101)

  • Allan Gregg can't see the forest for the the trees here...

He can't back away enough from the "America is Good" mindset to view objectively.

Get involved in Sierra Leone ?!

The U.S. has no interest in human rights.....it has interest in resources.

    Rwanda maybe ......? Hmmmmmmmmmm.........No

  • The problem is that America has a very compromised conscience.

  • If Prof Chomsky is the conscience of America then America has a conscience, and that makes the outrage of its evil infinitely greater, for a man who does not listen to his conscience may be said to be more evil than a man who has no conscience.

America is well and truly damned, not because chomsky is ineffective but because he will be ignored

  • As someone said here, if this man dies we are fucked.

  • we are fucked anyway, listen to the subtext - we are engaged in self-applied extinctual behaviors. We will end the same way all living things on this planet end - extinction.

  • @pjeffries301 I'd have to agree.

  • Let me have my cigar sir, how else can I deal with these politicians?

  • The interviewer has the same haircut as He-Man

  • If Chomsky died, we are fucked. We will never have any one like him.

  • @gobuddyboy I'm not so sure. We usually find a renewed respect and admiration for works done by the deceased. People like Karl Marx for instance. His ideas were a lot more influential after he died.

  • This Man Knows Whats up. We need leaders like him

  • suck a fucking genius

  • I'm in awe of this man's knowledge.

  • @pcgamer010 everyone is or should be

  • @pcgamer010 Chomsky is a goddamn human encyclopedia. When I read his books, I toil and toil to find a bad citation of any of his claims.

  • @sk8tafrnk The human encyclopedia has yet to publish his political thought in a peer reviewed medium.

  • @Allrightteam It's because Chomsky writes for a layman's audience. The purpose of his work is to educate the general public. He doesn't really do a lot of theoretical stuff. He's more like a journalist that just reports records and what people say.

Nobody's refuted the propaganda model. Lots of major universities have tested it and given it the thumbs up.

If our government isn't doing the things Chomsky says, then why do they write that they did in public records?

  • @sk8tafrnk You are right, he knew he lacked the goods from the start which is why The New Mandarins was a pre-emptive ad hom attack on the academic establishment. But let me save you further 'toil'. In "Distortions at Fourth Hand", he was trying to deny the Khmer Rouge genocide of it's own people (as usual). He cited The Economist and The Melbourne Journal of Politics as supporting his claims. The citations were a letter to the editor and an undergraduate student essay, respectively.

  • @Allrightteam Who wrote that letter to the editor of the economist? You have conveniently left that out. Also, he didn't cite the melbourne journal of politics. He merely mentioned it. If you don't like his thoughts, that is ok, but don't defame him by making shit up

  • ..."Non-profitable",meaning that after the Jamaican slave-uprisings in 1830, discussion in the Americas and British Parliament (by that time, late 1831) revealed that slavery was becoming simply unfashionable. It attracted to much attention to Elite investors of state and private capital. The easy solution was to implement everyone under a free-trade capitalist slave system through multinational investment, removal of the kings, and promotion of the rising merchant class. Last thoughts.... :)

  • Let's be clear about one thing. America has not been fair to her own people. She ha fallen from her orestuge clealr. She has no morals. As I was researching my coutries history she took on an arrogance that reveals her leaderships personality. The elite simpy do not wish for her to return to her morality. The multinational corporations, big bankers and politicians have waged war on us internally and the people are not in agreement

  • It was never moral. Nation-states aren't moral institutions. The colonization of the US since the 17th century claimed almost 15 million Native American lives, hundreds of different tribes and mini-cultures. Almost 3 times the Holocaust. George Washington PERSONALLY led the battle against thousands of Iroquois, slaughtering women and children. All of the other immoral trades (slavery, railroad expoits, etc.) all halted because they were non-profitable, not cause corporations and States "care"...

  • @Bodhidharma1986 Findmea perfect union. Man is a sinner, unfit to rule the nations. Morals are personal, you can't legislate morality.

  • @DMChoreographer I know you can't. Thanks for pointing out the obvious. However, I'm saying dispense with the idea that America was ever a "moral" power system. You're contradicting yourself when you say that America should return to a "moral imperative" you think it had in its past years (which it NEVER had, at all) while telling me that no man is fit to rule a government. Personally, I've seen men rule themselves responsibly. No state needed. Period. Think what you like....

  • @Bodhidharma1986 Define "moral imperative" please. The only true "moral imperative" is thusly defined and preseted by the scriptures. "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given: and the "government" shall be on his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

When man willingly subjects himself to these principles we progress, when not, the people perish. Widespread accountability. It's coming......til then...

  • @DMChoreographer Final comment. I agree with widespread accountability because that's the only 'moral imperative', when all humans look out for each other and have solidarity and sympathy with one and other. I don't share your love for religion (studied all the faiths and esoteric systems top to bottom, I don't care) but that's your concern and I respect that. :)

  • @Bodhidharma1986 Final comment to your final comment. The day is coming when it shall be. But you know that's my basis for making the above comment. My "religion" as you call it, is not a proper description of my faith. It is a relationship of love properly keeping Christ's commands because they are his way of providing for all of my needs, and those principals work universally when properly applied, Just studying isn't the same as practicing said principals. Respectfully, respectful.TY

  • @DMChoreographer There is no God you backward idiot.

  • @truckerfromreno You don't know that. ...and, when you come to the complete realization of the full impact of why that statement is absolutely true, while your statement merely might be true, you very well might cease to be a small-minded, ideological simpleton.

  • His comment on the Internet was spot on. Look at how the Internet has been used in the "Arab spring" events. And this video seems old. Like 2000 or earlier.

  • When I think of intellectuality, this man is probably the only American comes to my mind. He's giant! He's as giant as Foucault was to France, or as Russell was to Britain.

  • @jjhjjff France would probably prefer to use Descartes

  • @fartknocker31 Far from it. He is just a hard working Guy that finds great Motivation. Motivation is key, and is Something everyone can find through selected Information consumtion.

  • @la2395online No my brother you are wrong. Noam most certainly does blame the U.S. populace. Look a little deeper in Noam's work and you will find he say that since we do not do anything about attrocities caused by U.S. interests it is the same as condoning it. He is absolutely right. Sometimes it's difficult when the mirror is turned inwarrds.

  • This guy is an absolute genius

  • So many people believed him, and could never find a proper job again. Once a demagoge comes along and destroys your attitude, life sucks and happiness is gone forever. ;-)

  • you gentiles are Pathetic Always take some jew and make him god or Messiah just like the jesus and kerl marx and know this noam chomsky did you ever wondering why is this all your biggst gods and messiah and your intellectuals from right and left are jewish and you wonder how we the jews call are self the chosen people dont diss this

comment in 100 yreas from know your kids will things that holly histroy just like your Fathers Though't even the arebs belive in a jewish idea of god

  • @ehudnold9 Yours is the most stupid kind of comment, failing to see that throughout human history, ideas were borrowed by one group from another. Do you ever wonder where the Jews got their one God idea? Abraham was the father of both Jews & Arabs, you moron. The concept of one God wass not monopolized by the Jews; they just got opportunity to make it more pertinent to their lives thanks to the Roman oppression. Ancient Jews were not strictly monotheistic. Watch, "The Saga of the Israelites".

  • when is this interview from?

  • Yet he profites from the US, his citizenship, its money. If he was a Pakistani, writing in Urdu, he would be bombed to his friends in drone-dread-heaven. I mean, he is clearly a part of the Empire. Even the kings of old had jesters showing them vividly how violent the king's rule was. It only flatters.

  • If you ever read a full interview or a book by chomsky you would know that he only uses conventional sources in order to prove his point(s). His sources are subjective and not beneficial at all to what HE stands for, so he uses them in order to prove his statements by using "their" refrences. Indeed very impressive, and completely convincing. It's no bullshit propaganda from either side, just plain and as I see it, healty criticism. Conventional tv refuses him. Now guess why.

  • Chomsky explicitly supports the two-state solution in Palestine and has for 30 years. He explicitly opposed the one-state solution. He believes the Jews should have, right now, a Jewish state on Palestinian land. That by definition is a Zionist. Of course he criticizes Israel, many Zionists do, they might have differences with the current direction being followed, but they all support the existence of a Jewish state. There are no non-Zionists in the US media or politics, witness H. Thomas.

  • "freedom from conscience -- psychopaths" explains what a psychopath is all about and why the traits of a psychopath are an advantage to politicians.

  • Chomsky, the phony 'conscience of America' , is a dedicated Zionist, committed to the suppression of fundamental criticism of Israel.

  • @flimflamman Are you talking about someone else? Noam Chomsky a dedicated Zionist? Are you fucking insane, have you actually heard he talk about Israel. That must be way so many Blind Israeli supporters call him a self hating jew because is so pro Israel.

You are a psychotic obviously. You couldn't be anymore wrong, its amazing. Take your medication wacko.

  • @thesparitan Anyone that would argue that Chomsky is a "Zionist" should PROVE why they believe it is so....

  • @gorgorybmus Anyone that would argue Chomsky is a "Zionist" should prove they are taking their doctor proscribed medication. The crap you hear on youtube is overwhelming at times. I have a hard time accepting the fact that people are this stupid.

Israel thinks Chomsky is helping the terrorist by giving them cover and this moron thinks "well that must mean he is a hardcore Israeli supporter"

    LOL Peoples stupidity is infinite.

  • In what year was this interview conducted?

  • What impresses me so much about professor Chomsky, is that he never allows interviews, q&a's and debates to focus on his own persona. In fact, the truth and the issue at hand defines his persona. I recently discovered this man, and it has completely changed my world view. I thought The Wire was unique in its dissidence, but Chomsky operates on a whole another level.

  • @dilmao Dude welcome to the club, I have tried to cultivated the same mental attitude as Chomsky and fail miserably. His extreme knowledge of politics and history and ethics is just mind blowing. I try to fact check everything he says now because I trust his opinion to much, we have to avoid making him an unimpeachable intellectual.

BTW, most of his facts are dead on.

  • He's been right about nearly every thing I have ever heard him talk about...EXCEPT 9/11.

Thank You for sharing this video AllanGregg.

  • Did Chomsky ever talk about individual interests?

  • Comment removed

  • Chomsky is an intellectual crook & a hypocrite.

  • @Sage80

obviously you have abundant evidence for this?

  • if america is so corrupt as you say or you just dont like it

    i have a suggestion

get the fuck out and go to a country where its not corrupt and best suited for you

  • @RayWilliamJohansen

yeah thats sounds sensible.everybody who doesn't agree with you should fuck off to afghanistan or iraq or somewhere its legal for a marine to get a bead on them.fuckin loser

  • @arthurdonachy

    no

its just that many people seem to be complaining about the country they are living in and saying its the worst country blah blah

    just go away

anyone who doesnt agree with you should

should be able to speak up

    stop censoring the media

  • @RayWilliamJohansen Brother, to criticize one's country is to love one's country.

  • @ellitho Criticizing your government is loving your country, because the government is simply not your country

  • The government is an extension of the people if we vote in the wrong people that is our fault.

  • @thereddog223 If the goverment was truly the people, then we would have direct or participatory democracy. We would have have influence in major decisions like going into wars for oil interest, taxes, and how those tax dollars get spent. We do not even have represntative democracy in our country, beacuase we are given a false choice between two parties with more or less a similiar agenda.

  • Representative republic we are not a democracy and not everyone agrees in a democracy.

  • @thereddog223 It's a easily verified fact the united states has always been a Polyarchy.

  • @Loltochapel constructive criticism shows that you care :)

  • @hexcane I've never heard of John Pilger so I'll look into him. As for Chomsky, I am currently attempting to read "Hegemony or Survival" and I say "attempting" because Chomsky's books are a bit confusing (at least to me).

  • @hexcane I don't understand why you need to be so aggressive in your response to me. All I'm doing is asking a question and wanting an answer. And yes, I understand that big business gains from governmental support but that was not the question I posed. If you would just take a look at my previous comment, I asked "What does the U.S. have to gain by backing dictatorships and conflicts like the ones in East Timor and Nicaragua?"

  • put simply , divide and conquer . for a complex understanding of why the US is playing chess with tiny countries pick up a book on American geopolitics of the last 30 or so years.

  • @Edgebotv4 Any suggestions for books?

  • @mdrndrum Noam chomsky himself has a wide library of material on the subject much of it available legally as PDF's , The Disinformation series offers an insight into a huge variety of deceptions and media distortions, Mike Ruppert has a good insight into energy politics of the last 50 years, Kurt Vonnegut if you can stand it , pick up any selection of political science books and draw conclusions of your own.

  • mdrndrum

take a look at the official chomsky website, where you'll find extensive material on the matter, including articles, debates, speeches etc. there are also plenty of videos here on youtube. the chomsky website also lists his many books, including 'hegemony or survival', 'manufacturing consent' and 'deterring democracy', to name but a few. hope that's useful.

  • @towneslives Thank you, I'll check that out.

  • @towneslives I find all of his works utterly dull and absolutely biased leaning towards communism. As far as I'm concerned chomsky can die in 5 minutes and I wouldn't care at all.

  • @LtSgt5 that's nice, but i'm puzzled as to why you're telling me.

  • Comment removed

  • @LtSgt5 It always amazes me how people that never experienced and have no clue, dismiss communism...I'm a romanian ..i lived in it...the simple thing ppl say " you lived in communism you were starving => communism is evil"...when the truth is ..i was starving cause of some maniac dictator...with the blessing of the US and the Western world...you don't have to believe me..look it up ..Nixon's visit to Romania...Ceausescu's visit to England, France etc.

  • @towneslives I wish I could afford to buy one more more of his books. :(

  • @intocake I'm pretty sure you can find him in just any library.

  • @ymirfrostgiant me no have car. me no have money

  • 00:06: Chomsky is sitting there thinking "WTF is up with this guy's hair?!"

  • What does the U.S. have to gain by backing dictatorships and violent military suppression?

  • @mdrndrum I dont think you have been listening have you?

  • Comment removed

  • @arthurdonachy I'm sorry, it's just I'm just starting to try to understand this whole corporate/government dilemma and Chomsky speaks with such eloquence and uses some scholarly terms. If you wouldn't mind, couls you answer my question?

  • @mdrndrum

If you listen between 4:30 and 5:30 he spells out why very simply.

  • @arthurdonachy Ok, so the government works in the interest of the dominant private sectors, mainly multi-national corporations. But what does the dominant sector have to gain from it?

  • @mdrndrum

ok; I think there is a substantial amount of piss taking here.

I 've read Hegemony or Survival its quite plainly written, you do not have to a linguist to absorb facts

.However, if yours is a serious enquiry "townlives" answer is the most sensible reply.

If you want to form your own opinion you cant be lazy, compare the information you glean from chomsky et al with what you are fed via the corporate media then decide for yourself.

    anyway, good luck

  • @arthurdonachy Well thanks for helping. And give me a break, pal, I'm 18. Given that you're 66, I think we can both agree that you have had much more experience in this world than I have.

  • @mdrndrum are you serious?

  • the interviewer is in dire need of a haircut!

  • He's a brilliant, articulate thinker. Who will carry the mantel when he's gone?

  • its a mullet poupee.

  • its a poupee.

  • people are brainwashed by us propaganda thats why you will never see prof.Chomsky on cnn and other main stream media

  • @jimanHK cuz most media outlets are run by corporations..chomsky speaks against them..but when u think about it..corporations control everything..our politicians..where we get our information from..and to a slight extent what we buy..doesnt that seem crazy?

  • Good on you Noam. Every woman and child needs a male mentor/male figure in their life that loves as much as you do. You care enough about us women to say all this!

What hurts me as a woman. Having to drive through every suburb and ALWAYS see an Adult shop. It hurts me because they are telling men it's ok to treat women or view women in such filthy perverted conditions.

  • wow, Chomsky's wearing a jacket.

  • This has happened about five times in this video.....the interviewer says," uhhh.....(then says what he feels is a very complex and intelligent word)."

  • I just want to remind every stupid member of the Chomsky cult that they are no better than those of the LaRouche movement or any other stupid personality cult centered around a rich huckster.

Keep wasting your lives boys and girls, buy another one of his boring, repetitive books and continue to believe he is more than just a mouthpiece for a highly perverted anti-American-fetish.

  • @countertreason

...how exactly is there a personality cult around Chomsky?

his popularity has none of the features of personality cultism, sorry...but you're just plain wrong.

  • @pazomblez On this page and all other pages are a series of comments. Those who dislike Chomsky mostly state positions of his that are untenable. Those who like Chomsky say things like, "wow, Chomsky's wearing a jacket" or talk about how he intellectually humiliated an interviewer or even themselves ('I wish I were smart like him', 'we need him, I hope he doesn't die!').

In left wing circles there is little to no criticism of him. Personality cult - state apparatus.

  • @countertreason One of the many problems with your BS is that you think YouTube comments represent "left wing circles." Come on.

  • @cryptickripke Tell me where I said that specifically.

There are certainly left-wing people who travel left wing cirlces who frequent the videos of left wing intellectuals, and the saddest part of this message I am writing right now is that I guess I need to write it.

I do not care whether you acknowledge the veracity of what I am saying, but I am very well acquainted with left wing circles and what is commonly thought amongst the adherents.

  • @countertreason

    you sound smart

wish I was as smart as you

  • @ojasb No sir, I am afraid it is you that needs to be credited with the genius; it sure takes a lot of wisdom to be able to make a sarcastic comment. You definetly deserve to be taken seriously.

  • @countertreason

well thanks you, that was my whole since the begining

  • @ojasb I have no idea what that sentence is supposed to mean... I guess you are ESL.

  • @countertreason

"On this page and all other pages are a series of comments. Those who dislike Chomsky mostly state positions of his that are untenable. Those who like Chomsky say things like, "wow, Chomsky's wearing a jacket" or talk about how he intellectually humiliated an interviewer or even themselves ('I wish I were smart like him', 'we need him, I hope he doesn't die!').

    hahahahahahah

  • @ahmed337799 This is what makes me sick about the modern left, exactly this. You fuckers are so self-absorbed and arrogant and have spent so much time alone and ignorant inside of your fucking echo chambers that you think perspective from the outside is alien and can be brushed aside.

I am glad that you are incredibly like a horrible and stupid person who will never succeed in anything. I am tired of you fuckers. I do genuinely smile when I know you scumbags are mostly losers.

  • @countertreason

    hahahaha

  • @ahmed337799 Well, at least we both know that you are dumb and impotent to respond. Little consolation in a world where your vote matters.

  • @countertreason

do you listen to yourself? a few people comment on chomsky's handsomness or his sharpness and you make it out to be some sort of stalinist personality cult?

  • @ahmed337799 ROFL this countertreason is one major rightwinger troll lo life moron ROFL...i think he has a deep fetish about comrade chomsky and dosent want to admit it,the only thing he does is going on chomsky videos and live his idiotic comments...as if anyone cares ROFL,what a pathetic loser

  • @dpapaioannow Countertreason goes all over the Noam Chomsky videos and "challenges" (a.k.a. trolls) the commenters, then when someone responds, amuses himself for hours with back-and-forth bickering. Others include "lakeeriejew" and "haroos". Watch out for these people.
