Don't get the Chevy, Derek. If GM goes the way of the velociraptor, there'll be no one making parts to replace the 1.8 or so liter engine, which will need replacing if the Chevy turns out to be as reliable as the badging suggests. Personally, I'd love to get the Bimmer 1-series for the handling and excellent power-weight ratio...but it looks really really gay. Only choice, in my opinion, is the GXP. Sure, it won't make your penis grow, but you won't look quite as gay as with the Bimmer.

Derek I know you like the cobalt but its time to hang up the towel. The GTI...come on its a vw. The pontiac even though it has more hp and the same mpg as the bmw its still a pontiac. The overall pick of coarse is the bimmer. I own a 325ci e46 great car but you have to go with the bimmer because it has more seats than the pontiac, more hp than the vw, and the cobalt just doesnt turn heads like a brand new bmw body style. Go with the bimmer you will not regret it. The handling is AMAZING!!!!!!!!

Solstice hardtop- overpriced and feels kinda cheap.

Cobalt SS- Anything but overpriced and still feels like any other economy car.

BMW 1-series- Great car, but kinda stripped out and the options are expensive, plus not as quick as the Cobalt SS.

VW GTI- Not as quick as the SS but is a quality car. If anything by the Cobalt SS and get the next gen GTI in 2 years it'll be worth the wait.

I was reguarding the targa version because it was in reply to someone elses comment. When the solstice targa comes out itll be more--I don't know why,it just is. They havent released an official price yet,but when I went to get my Escalade serviced I asked about the Solstice targa they said it would start at around 35k. Thats way more than the 128i,and the solstice has the cheapest interior that I've ever seen. Ive never actually driven one,admittedly,but Ive driven the 128 and its excellent.

I'd say that Derek D needs to get the true deal out there for power vs cost - the Cobalt SS Turbo. 260HP.. One tune opens it up to 301hp at the front wheels.. not to mention adding exhaust, intake.. etc.. Hell Synopsis (spelling?) has come out with a turbo upgrade kit for it - can you say over 350FWHP? DEREK D - THE FANS SHOULD VOTE FOR THE ONE AND ONLY COBALT SS/TC (also known as being FASTER than an Evo at Car and Driver's VIR test)
