  • Bravo~Korea~~

  • Wow I just love her work. I can never get my pictures to look this good. :-(

  • It's soooo obviously Korean land. so many ancient literatures prove that fact....

  • Dokdo island is a last baby to Koreans, that is meant be a keeping kinda last dignity of independence of Korea against various invasions from beside countries along the 2000years. Of course not only pin down in emotional heart, though there firmly exist various historical evidences. It almost be lost during Korean War in 1952 against Japanese lobby to the UN under Japanese their money at San Francisco agreement even Korean government couldn't participate the Agreement due to the Korean War.

  • @schubaka Do you know that Japanese people lived in the island until 1947. ROK Navy came and killed the island inhabitants and took the island by force. Thats why we are still protesting.

  • @Amagusdrop Are you also again faking Japanese? Japanese govt. stole the island(islet) 1905 against Korea already by force first!

And they were not inhabitants there. they were just working fishing true seals illegally like current Chinese fishermen on beside west fishing grounds of Korea . If you want to mention about the killing thing that is not affordable to Korea at least, Think about what Japanese did crimes onto Korea first!

  • @Amagusdrop Proof please. Provide sources as to when the ROK army killed the so called Japanese inhabitants of the island. You nutcase, the only true inhabitant who lived on the island was a Korean fisherman and his wife. They've been living there for over 30 years!

  • The combination of the photos, music and awesome editing really made this video incredible!

  • In future expects the activity which is more active.

    Have a good time !

  • About Korea truth thanks about deep concern.

  • Takeshima is just Japanese pronunciation of Korean name of Jukdo, original name for Dokdo.

  • These are just photo collection, anyway nice photos

  • Wow... nice photo

  • @lsilverstar Thank you!

  • nice photos and i loved the music that went with it

  • @benthecoolman2 Thanks!

  • Breathtaking photos. Gosh, this makes me want to be traveling again.

  • @phampants Looking forward to starting our vacation!

  • Dokdo is about 80km away from Ulleungdo , Hence visible in the naked eye during sunny clear days. Ancient Korean who lives in Ulleungdo had been sailing to Dokdo with their primitive wooden boat and fishing, gathering seaweed, clams for thousands years .Japan , u have problem with China with Diaoyutai/senkaku i sland, Korea with Dokdo/takesima island, Russia with Kuril/kunashir islands, hmm..... island..... Hawaii is island too!!

  • Beautiful! .Two thumbs up!

  • @bongogtr Thank you!

  • beautiful!

  • @overmins Thank you!

  • Beautiful indeed!!! Ah, Steve!!! I wasn't aware of your other channel I just subbed a bit ago!!! ;) Thanks much for the vid!

  • @MANNY100123 You're welcome. Yeah, started the second one to do more video responses and have a space to do some experiments.

  • Japan occupied this small island after the colonization of Korea, and they're still reclaiming that the island belongs to them because they once occupied it.

That means the whole Korea belongs to Japan because they once occpied it?

The whole US belongs to UK and France because they developed it?

What a stupid logic... Those idiot Japanese are like a small child who always insist their theory.

  • 아름답다.

  • @JinPurple 네, 맞아요.

  • w3 truthofdokdo com

  • To all my haters out there. I'm not a troll, I have been to both of these islands, Ullangdo I got, Duk-do I didn't. My mission is not to fight with people on things Korean but let's be honesty. This place isn't eden, let's not pretend it is.

  • @justgetsome honestly, with the way you are forcing your generalizations upon others, you're certainly a troll. Seriously, stop forcing people to believe in your idea and start listening to what other people have to say. Ask National Geographic photographers why they like barren wastelands that other people would not likely visit, or why they would bother to document lives of the people who live in the tropics with no modern technology. if you are done making your point, shut up

  • @justgetsome, you are hopeless. You had start off on the wrong foot! Go back to your very first comment on the video commenting. Think man think you suck!

  • Wow Jo has a great eye for detail and beauty! Fantastic!

  • @vainbadkitty That she does. She is an amazing photographer.

  • Such amazing photography..I vote she does a photobook packed with photos of Korea from her prospective..great coffee book.

  • @JamConcerned I've been encouraging her to do that for some time. Now we at least get to see more of her photos!

  • I'm sorry to come across as negative (and to disparage your wife's work), but I held this channel up to higher standards than the role of a government mouthpiece. Be honest: there's nothing beautiful or unique about Dokdo. Its popularity as a tourist attraction is based exclusively on propaganda and wanting to see what all the fuss is about. I know you have an official endorsement now, but that doesn't mean being blind to the truth of the matter. (If you really believe otherwise, so be it).

  • @onceatraveler I find the juxtaposition of choppy waters and rocky landscapes intriguing and captivating. It's one of the reasons why the images taken are beautiful. While the tourist business to the islets stems from the controversy, its beauty does not. without that tourism, riding to a remote islet such as this would be cost prohibitive for most photographers. Also note, there is no sponsorship message in the video, so the opinion is mine. Such videos are always noted.

  • @qiranger ....I totally agree. If this were a resting place for dead seals and rotting whales corpses Koreans would still say it's beautiful. This island is not different than any of the other 3000 islands in Korea except for it's controversy. If you ask a korea why it's korean they have no idea the reasons why or the history of such. It's not enough to be blindly patriotic. Learn why, cavemen would no better.

  • @onceatraveler that's your own personal opinion. if you know Korean history and its relations with Japan you'll see why this island is unique. Propaganda? about promoting one's own islands?

  • @onceatraveler ...I totally agree. if this were a resting place for dying rotting whales

  • @justgetsome ...you missed the point. My point is blind patriotism. Was it really that wonderful of a place? No, are foreigners traveling there in droves to see...what? I've been to these islands I just don't get it.

  • Beautiful! I wanna go sometime. I like that Jo is invading your channel a bit here. :)

  • @cgkitti Thanks... I think. ;-P

Yeah, the way the sea crashes up against the rocky shoreline creates a magical playground for photogs.

  • You are a brave one, my friend. I made it a point to not take a stance on the Dokdo/Takeshima controversy

There is no denying, however, that those shots were amazing. Great photography, and as always, great vid.

  • @bry0000000 Thanks Bryan. Jo really outdid herself with these photos. the lighting and situation were perfect for her.

I've often asked about my opinion on Dokdo and have commented on it several times in the media, so making a video isn't that big of a deal.

  • Thanks for the video! When I eventually make it to Korea I want to visit the islands and the countryside... much more so than Seoul. Still want to see Seoul, of course, but I really want to go to the less traveled parts of Korea.

  • @miguksaramieyo The rural areas are fantastic. Some of the old farm houses can really capture one's heart and camera eye.

  • @KHT175 Oh,is that mean that you really hate your country?I want to ask,why don't you love your country?

  • @helen0519, I have no idea where you got that impression of oneself. With all do respect, do you know me?

  • Wonderful island wonderful Korea!

  • @helen0519 Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Jo

Love the music and the dramatic pictures go beautifully with the music.

    Is this your first video?

    Vito

  • @VIM97 Thanks Vito. Actually she just took the photos and served as the source of inspiration. The music and editing were still performed by me.

  • beautiful as always!

  • @LaJYankee Thanks!

  • 독도는 우리땅! --- hope thats right lol

  • This made me really want to go visit! I live pretty close to Pohang so it should be pretty easy!

  • @raziel972 Very cool. All the small islets are fun to visit as well. Great opportunities to take pictures.

  • VEry nice photos and nice choice of music. When were you guys there?

  • @BusanKevin Thanks Kevin. Jo was there last month. I have yet to make it out there.

  • As always I enjoy your video.

  • @KHT175 Thanks!

  • 01:18 I suppose that the pilling of rocks at the beach does have a particular meening wright ?

  • @BlackCatBCB Rock piles like that usually are related to prayers.

  • I've been to both places. Dok-do is simply covered in bird droppings, rocks in the middle of the sea aren't that impressive. Koreans say 'beautiful' because what else are they going to say? koreans never say anything bad about anything korean. They praise even their beaches which are dirty and littered with garbage.

Ullangdo is nice enough for a island and has an interesting hiking trail around it.

I'm not being anti-korean, I'm just being honest as a long term resident.

  • @justgetsome, then why are you still living in Korea? You know that garbage on the beaches drifted by the heavy rains and the people of Korea work hard at cleaning the beaches. You've disgusted me.

  • @justgetsome, "Koreans say 'beautiful' because what else are they going to say? koreans never say anything bad about anything korean. They praise even their beaches which are dirty and littered with garbage." The passion of Korean for the country. Would it be answer to your question? You are not been honest rather being negative.

  • @KHT175 ..passion ok but let's be honest. Are you saying your beaches aren't littered with garbage? Have you been to Haeundae in the mroning when they have to use a machine to gather all the garbage that you people leave on your 'beautiful' beach? It's not just busan beaches, it's everywhere. I've been around enough to know. You simply avoid the question or pretend it doesn't exist.

  • @justgetsome, you have been uneasy of Korean culture and your perspective of Korean beaches on this video is irrelevant. Loot at the title of this video, certainly you are being troll.

Your YouTube channel is a private channel wonder why is that? I want to know who am I talking to so what to make of you. Likes or dislikes of any particular culture is your own preferences and I respect that but if you don't like something/place don't go there no one would ever say anything to you.

  • @justgetsome, judging any one of cultures in the world isn't healthy for a good relationship for the both parties. Should you commenting of Korean culture or others giving careful consideration to all details and aspects of a your subject.

  • Comment removed

  • @justgetsome sorry if my previous post sounded aggresive. just because the island has some bird poop on it, doesn't make it that less impressive. Dokdo is known for its natural resources under the sea and around it. There were sea lions that occasionally rested on the island that were decimated by the Japanese while they occupied the island.. It is more of a symbolic beauty than an actual aesthetical beauty.

  • @tokee1234567 ...to whom? koreans. No one else finds it that attractive of a place. You only go there because it's korean and you are korean, nothing more nothing less.

  • @justgetsome can you just stop with your blatant generalization? just because you don't like a rock in the middle of the sea doesn't mean nobody else cares. it's not just attractive because of its aesthetic beauty but because of its symbolism and its unique features that can give benefit to many different countries; hence the reason Japan wants the island. plz stop generalizing and trying to make your argument like a golden standard. At least be open to different people's opinions

  • @justgetsome As a long term resident (and in case you make a Gui-hwa), I hope you are able to get sources in Korean and are able to get an impression on Dokdo from other Koreans. and Koreans don't really praise their beaches when its dirty. Go to any website or talk to anyone in Korean to see how they really feel. I feel like you're generalizations prove that you don't know the language very well and that prevents you from looking at how Koreans communicate...

  • @justgetsome I find the area extremely captivating because of the fact that it's remote and rough. When juxtaposed with the sea, it creates an interesting canvas for film. That's the beauty in it for me.

  • After this video Japan and Korea will only fight harder to claim the area! On a more serious note, these are some very nice pictures and it's quite interesting that two countries are argumenting over who's property it is, since it's not a very profitable area. Furthermore, I read it's polluted. Nevertheless, the islets remain magic to the eye.

  • @MGSGeneral it is profitable.. if you know Korean or have read some documents related to Dokdo it has a lot of natural resources. It's been a home for many sea lions which the Japanese killed off when they occupied the island. Also, it signifies naval power/territory. Japan will be able to have more naval power and fishing area after claiming dokdo as their land. Fishing areas and marine territory is important. Look at the recent chinese pirates and the Korean officer that got killed

  • @tokee1234567 I read it was quite poluted and that renders fishing a bad idea. But after searching about the 'natural resources', it's quite clear that it's indeed profitable. "Experts estimate that there is a lot of hydrogen hydrate that equals to $150,000,000,000", according to one source. As for the naval territory... I should've realized that's important, since my eldest brother works at a dredging company and I myself worked at a fish shop... now I feel silly =P

  • @MGSGeneral well regardless, both Korean and Japanese have been using the sea for many years, perhaps not anymore due to the radioactive waste Japan has wasted into its sea...

  • @MGSGeneral It's sad that the area is disputed and that this hasn't been resolved in over 60 years. But you're right, the area is beautiful.

  • Very beautiful.

  • @immadametal Thank you.

  • Thank you for featuring my work! <3

  • @Nyxnalia Stunning images, as always.

  • I just looked up Dokdo on wikipedia and it says its Administrated by south korea... but im confused who it belongs too :S It says its claimed By Japan, South korea and also north korea... :S //Mattias on Facebook

  • @smaug95swe There is really no confusion - the land is Korean territory. however, Japan still makes claim on the islets and as a result, the issue has continued for more than 60 years hurting international relations.

  • @smaug95swe

It is South Korean territory and has been south korean territory for over centuries ago..

even when s.koreans become independent over Japanese, the settlement papers clearly stated that Dokdo is South Korean property and was even approved by Japanese ministrators of that time...Koreans just dont understand why japanese are making a big deal about it now.

I not hating on Japan don't get me wrong

but Dokdo is Korean land people..

    독도는 우리땅~
