He made a so long journey since SR1 discovering himself and everything behind the decay of the pillars, the war among the races and what "the elder god" was all the time about... At least he sacrificed for good.
Legacy of Kain will be always for me one of the best games with the best plots and storyline ever.
Stupid question: I have never played soul reaver 2 but I know that kain put raziel into the undeground in blood omen, because raziel became a higher stadium (wings) than kain... but why did kain then save raziel from the fate in soul reaver 2?? Are they enemies or not o.o
@SandrachenGaara Because Kain, whether he knew this before he threw raziel into the abyss or not, needed raziel in order to set things right in the world. And he knew that history had to be changed when raziel was entering the reaverm so he saved him in order to create a paradox, and give raziel the change to reclaim his true destiny.

When I first watched that scene. I was thinking how unfortunate it was of Moebius to appear right next to where Raziel was standing in the Spectral Realm.
I saw it coming too. Though technically, he was already dead when he encountered Raziel since he was just a spirit. Thanks to Kain impaling him. Raziel just finished him off by eating his soul.
So the bastard got what he deserved in the end by getting pwned by both Kain and Raziel.

Well why he did it was to try to reclaim his original destiny. the one that he was supposed to do before Mobius re-drew the map of his destiny by sending him back in time to kill King William the Just
Some say that Raziel's wrath blade dispursed into Kain's chest and healed him? It's kind of unclear in this vid. If so that means that each cycle when Raziel is devoured in the reaver it's just him and not him+wraith blade.... wich is then rebound to his arm when Kain strikes him in SR1, goes through SR2, and is resucked into the blade in Defiance only to be again one day rebound to his arm in SR1... etc.
i think the main reason is because the guy who was the elder god died. no way you can replace a voice actor that awesome. that voice is way too amazing to mimick.
'cause Tony Jay, voiceactor of the Elder God and many other Characters in these games died in 2006. It could be Really hard making a sequal withot the main (and best ever) Villian.

In Defiance, if Raziel dies (in either the Material or Spectral realm), it's game over, load your last checkpoint. On that note, I really hate that they deviated from the 'die in Material, forcibly fall into Spectral' system in the previous games.
@waleedk93 Raziel is pulled into Kain's Reaver sword, turning it into the Soul Reaver. Since Raziel also gives Kain -his- version of the Soul Reaver, technically, Kain and Raziel are Triple-Teaming the elder God.
it's the last game except for the fan made one but I really doubt Raziel will come back unless eidos or the company that buy's them out make a new game but I doubt it

But even if Kain freed Raziel, they would still need some way to banish, not defeat, the Elder God. Such an act would need the aid of a being equal in power to the parasite, but also being the antithesis of everything the Elder God truly stood for: Death/Life, Chaos/Order, Corruption/Purity.
Yes, but at the end of Defiance, the Soul Reaver was created, and the wraithblade, the Spirit Reaver, comes to live within Kain. So he can return the Reaver to it's destined place, and then find a way to free Raziel from his wraithblade form, whilst preserving history.
Kain created his sons from a portion of his own soul, raziel killed them and absorbed their souls, once imprisoned inside the blade he's purified (by the spirit forge) and then the the reaver (the souls of kains sons) is reabsorbed back into kain purifying him. you can't really recreate raziel or kain will never be healed.
I think that Raziel should never had been killed, because he was supposed to weild the blade and, i think, become the ruler of Nosgoth, that is why Janos was so confused when Raziel showd hm the wraith blade
Perhaps Raziel's riddle is far from finished... Maybe Kain will find the answers far into the future, and find something that may aid him in redirecting Raziels destiny, and his own...
He was ordained to wield the Reaver, though not quite as they'd envisioned. It's also ironic that whilst Raziel wielded the Soul Reaver, the Reaver of Souls wielded him in future.
Also, defiance never showed the execution of vorador. what if vorador wasn't executed at all??????????

Vorador's execution in defiance, if at all it occured, we believe would be in the same way as shown in BO - his head is severed, but he is not impaled through heart. so his resurrection is possible, right????

I don't remember clearly, but Mobius only said they were going to execute him, but when? maybe Kain can save him in time, who knows. but still, BO2s and SR1s timeline has been severly altered, whatever lies in the future is now a blank slate that we do not know.
That will not be posible after the destruction of the pillars,based on the events of Defiance, neither kain or Raziel were in a posicion to help Vorador before Avernus, and by the time Raziel met Mortanius it was too late to help him, and Kain was still assembling the Balance emblem. Mobieus "died" on schedule and was resurrected by the Elder Parasite. The only one who was on a position to help him was the fledgling Kain, and by the time he reaches Vorador he's already been executed,
You see, what if the original time-paradox in blood omen (fight between kain and william) would never have happened? there would have been no william's tomb and raziel would never have killed kain, and kain would always have saved raziel from entering the reaver.
This made me realise that actually SR and SR2 games are indeed in altered history and defiance brought the history back on track. the paradoxes in soul reaver 2 actually negated and cancelled the effect of paradox that happened in BO.
The William Paradox was actually a gamble by Mobieus, since they were both armed with the Reaver they could both loose, when Kain wins Mobieus's pawn play out his part, either way Mobieus would win
how many centuries did raziel spend burning in the abyss? the human-shaped forms of raziel's brethen (as seen in SR1 intro) evolved into monsters when raziel came to slay them.
Mortanius used the Heart of Darkness to resurrect Kain, so yes, he did. Janos was killed some 500 years prior (as we saw in Soul Reaver 2) by Raziel's hand.
The Heart was taken back to the Sarafan citadel, where we know the majority (at least) of the circle resided (since Vorador was there killing them when Raziel arrived) - it is not far fetched to assume that Mortanius was there, too, or at least frequented it, and acquired it from wherever Sarafan Raziel put it.
raziel was always kains right hand. he has been lead down this path thinking it was free will but it wasnt. right now hes in the blade still and i hope they make the next game itll be good

actually, there are two souls of raziel with him all along since kain shattered the blade on him - one is wraith raziel himself and the other is the wraith blade bound onto his arm (which is also raziel's soul).
each time the loop is traversed in the changed history, the wraith blade part of raziel's soul will be purified and will enter kain, thus getting freed of purgatorial cycle; while body part of raziel's soul will enter the blood reaver starting the chain of events all over again.
i am so glad that raziel finally attains redemption from his terrible purgatorial cycle by dispersing purified wraith blade (raziel himself) into kain's heart, thus purifying kain also and achieving his own redemption too.
obviously, the other part of raziel that went into blood reaver would have to play out the same cycle again (shattered and bound onto raziel's arm in future), but ultimately that too will be purified again in the spirit forge.

When I first watched that scene. I was thinking how unfortunate it was of Moebius to appear right next to where Raziel was standing in the Spectral Realm.
I saw it coming too. Though technically, he was already dead when he encountered Raziel since he was just a spirit. Thanks to Kain impaling him. Raziel just finished him off by eating his soul.
So the bastard got what he deserved in the end by getting pwned by both Kain and Raziel.

Some say that Raziel's wrath blade dispursed into Kain's chest and healed him? It's kind of unclear in this vid. If so that means that each cycle when Raziel is devoured in the reaver it's just him and not him+wraith blade.... wich is then rebound to his arm when Kain strikes him in SR1, goes through SR2, and is resucked into the blade in Defiance only to be again one day rebound to his arm in SR1... etc.

i think the main reason is because the guy who was the elder god died. no way you can replace a voice actor that awesome. that voice is way too amazing to mimick.

In Defiance, if Raziel dies (in either the Material or Spectral realm), it's game over, load your last checkpoint. On that note, I really hate that they deviated from the 'die in Material, forcibly fall into Spectral' system in the previous games.

@waleedk93 Raziel is pulled into Kain's Reaver sword, turning it into the Soul Reaver. Since Raziel also gives Kain -his- version of the Soul Reaver, technically, Kain and Raziel are Triple-Teaming the elder God.

Maybe Raziel isn't completely dead, he's strong enough to change the appearance of Reaver and even the skul's eyes are shining blue so i believe he is still aware of what's happening outside

Perhaps Kain could find a way to release Raziel from the Spirit Reaver? Perhaps Raziel can yet be freed from his compressed purgatory, and restored to his former self...
But even if Kain freed Raziel, they would still need some way to banish, not defeat, the Elder God. Such an act would need the aid of a being equal in power to the parasite, but also being the antithesis of everything the Elder God truly stood for: Death/Life, Chaos/Order, Corruption/Purity.
But who, or what, could it be...?

Yes, but at the end of Defiance, the Soul Reaver was created, and the wraithblade, the Spirit Reaver, comes to live within Kain. So he can return the Reaver to it's destined place, and then find a way to free Raziel from his wraithblade form, whilst preserving history.

Kain created his sons from a portion of his own soul, raziel killed them and absorbed their souls, once imprisoned inside the blade he's purified (by the spirit forge) and then the the reaver (the souls of kains sons) is reabsorbed back into kain purifying him. you can't really recreate raziel or kain will never be healed.

I think that Raziel should never had been killed, because he was supposed to weild the blade and, i think, become the ruler of Nosgoth, that is why Janos was so confused when Raziel showd hm the wraith blade

He was ordained to wield the Reaver, though not quite as they'd envisioned. It's also ironic that whilst Raziel wielded the Soul Reaver, the Reaver of Souls wielded him in future.

Even if vorador was executed, what if the older kain (now alive and purified by raziel) would have resurrected him???? Vorador's execution in defiance, if at all it occured, we believe would be in the same way as shown in BO - his head is severed, but he is not impaled through heart. so his resurrection is possible, right????

I don't remember clearly, but Mobius only said they were going to execute him, but when? maybe Kain can save him in time, who knows. but still, BO2s and SR1s timeline has been severly altered, whatever lies in the future is now a blank slate that we do not know.

That will not be posible after the destruction of the pillars,based on the events of Defiance, neither kain or Raziel were in a posicion to help Vorador before Avernus, and by the time Raziel met Mortanius it was too late to help him, and Kain was still assembling the Balance emblem. Mobieus "died" on schedule and was resurrected by the Elder Parasite. The only one who was on a position to help him was the fledgling Kain, and by the time he reaches Vorador he's already been executed,

You see, what if the original time-paradox in blood omen (fight between kain and william) would never have happened? there would have been no william's tomb and raziel would never have killed kain, and kain would always have saved raziel from entering the reaver.
This made me realise that actually SR and SR2 games are indeed in altered history and defiance brought the history back on track. the paradoxes in soul reaver 2 actually negated and cancelled the effect of paradox that happened in BO.

The William Paradox was actually a gamble by Mobieus, since they were both armed with the Reaver they could both loose, when Kain wins Mobieus's pawn play out his part, either way Mobieus would win

Mortanius used the Heart of Darkness to resurrect Kain, so yes, he did. Janos was killed some 500 years prior (as we saw in Soul Reaver 2) by Raziel's hand.

The Heart was taken back to the Sarafan citadel, where we know the majority (at least) of the circle resided (since Vorador was there killing them when Raziel arrived) - it is not far fetched to assume that Mortanius was there, too, or at least frequented it, and acquired it from wherever Sarafan Raziel put it.

i think kain realy cared fore raziel,but he had to be harsh and cast him in fore both there destiny's to go right,to bad thought raziel had to go into the sword,although kain is my al time fav,somehow i hope when the latest ore last game comes,raziel and kain both get a good rol,hope he interacts with raziel through the sword he's in,maybe he even brings back uma,and they talk things out,and in the end she is his queenand when al is said and done maybe raziel can get out of the sword

actually, there are two souls of raziel with him all along since kain shattered the blade on him - one is wraith raziel himself and the other is the wraith blade bound onto his arm (which is also raziel's soul).
each time the loop is traversed in the changed history, the wraith blade part of raziel's soul will be purified and will enter kain, thus getting freed of purgatorial cycle; while body part of raziel's soul will enter the blood reaver starting the chain of events all over again.

i am so glad that raziel finally attains redemption from his terrible purgatorial cycle by dispersing purified wraith blade (raziel himself) into kain's heart, thus purifying kain also and achieving his own redemption too.
obviously, the other part of raziel that went into blood reaver would have to play out the same cycle again (shattered and bound onto raziel's arm in future), but ultimately that too will be purified again in the spirit forge.
