As a Black American i struggled early with my identity and skin color i wanted to be jet-black like my mother instead of a Mandela like brown. But as i have grown and matured i've learned to embrace myself and love myself. We originate from north carolina and we like Hatians, and every other New World population of blacks whether Cuba, Jamaica, Brazil ETC are mixed.some more than others.

It is true that a lot of French people around the World are actually of Haitian Nationality. I hope in the near future many will start to understand that Haitians come in all races and all ethnic backgrounds.

Brazilians are also latinos but they dont speak spanish, they speak Portuguese. Haiti's culture is latin-based. Our Languages both French and French creole are both latin-based languages. You can also include our music and dance styles as latin based too because we have elements of many cultures in Haiti.

I came from a rural town in southeast Haiti were the population is very mixed I got people from my family who are very black, light skin, but also white and some look like Taino Indian... I even got a cousin who is white and have blue eyes and some that look like Indian. I heard from the elder that they descendant of white people that escaped the revolution and refuge there and mix with the local people

It is true that a lot of French people around the World are actually of Haitian Nationality. I hope in the near future many will start to understand that Haitians come in all races and all ethnic backgrounds.

Brazilians are also latinos but they dont speak spanish, they speak Portuguese. Haiti's culture is latin-based. Our Languages both French and French creole are both latin-based languages. You can also include our music and dance styles as latin based too because we have elements of many cultures in Haiti.

But the white haitians do get bothered alot I guess and other Haitians don't claim them...hmmm...that's weird...but anyways, I'm in love with my people. I'm proud of the white ones and the dark ones.

Just the name White Haitian Pride is ridiculous, I'm not Haitian but I believe they should be proud of who they are period. I know so many Haitians who claim to have white ancesters even if they are as dark as tar, this is so sad. Having White blood doesn't make one individual better. I'm one of those light-skinned guys who believes that Dark-skinned is BEAUTIFUL.

I came from a rural town in southeast Haiti were the population is very mixed I got people from my family who are very black, light skin, but also white and some look like Taino Indian... I even got a cousin who is white and have blue eyes and some that look like Indian. I heard from the elder that they descendant of white people that escaped the revolution and refuge there and mix with the local people

I 100% agree with you. The population of white haitian descents is so high around the world you won't believe that. For instance, If you read the book "Gotham, A History of New York City, which won a Pulitzer price for history, at page 314 paragraph 1, wrote that 40000 of whites rich haitian-colon(born in Haiti) fled to USA and got refuge in Manhattan(New York City). That means the great percentage of rich whites who has a french last name in NY are evidently from Haiti.

Whites and Blacks were parts of our ancestors. Advocating is such way for them doesn't mean as you stated,"self-hater." Notoriously, Whites colons who were born in Haiti had been deemed as Haitians not French, and were sharing the same culture than blacks and complying to the same nature-rules. After the setlement, they were scattered in Cap, Jeremie, Jacmel Gonaives, Port-Prince ;their main languages were creole not french unless they were traveling to Paris.

During the Haitian revolution, influenced by french revolution where the regime has been sponteneously collapsed and the king decapitated under the guillotine, haitian-french had no other alternative unless getting refuge in NY,USA. Why not France? Because they were somehow dettached from France, they were stable in Hati for centuries; they had never tought having refuge offshore. In other words, frech born in Haiti were pure Haitians.

Their fmilies have been in Haiti for centuries and not only that in the 1920's and 30's A lot of Arabs migrated to Haiti. so the numbers are a bit skewed. not to say the greater majority of the people dont have some african ancestry there is a significant population of Haitians that dont. ( or at least its not visible.) My Great grand father on my dad's side was a white man...
