@latraviata1853 as a disc collector this is so true until recently after years of search, I had to buy on U.K.'s amazon website an import of an out-of-print special 2-disc set of Italian arias on the first disc & French arias on the second! one of the most prestigious additions to my proud collection of classical singers! :-)

She sounds great here, her voice suits this role well, the high notes are very nice, and tasteful for her. occassionally her nigh notes can be a bit harsh and have a bit of the maria callas type, super wide, slow vibrato, but this is good. This was in her 'golden period' of sorts, she experienced somewhat of a vocal decline in the late 90s, which often happens with larger more dramatic coloratura voices at that age, if you listen to some of her other later videos you can hear the difference.

listen to the end of sempre libera video of her thats 4 or 5 down on the related videos list, the one where shes wearing pink, you'll see what i mean. that one is from '97, theres a HUGE difference.

Dinorah is light french lyric coloratura role, the queen of the night is a heavy dramatic german one, that comparison is irrelevent.

And June Anderson's voice is HUGE. Damrau gets a bit shreiky for me now and then.

She is very well known in France and Italy. She's performed less in your country, but just did Norma in Leipzig this year.
