Well, I'm 17 years old now, but I have to say: I grew up with the Monkees. How come? Well my cousin got a CD of them from their parents and we always listened to it. It was really fun! I still LOVE them!!

Even IF Justin Bieber lived at the time of the Monkees, their hair really ISN'T that similar...Sorry for not knowing their names, but the closest one to "Bieber style" is the one in the middle on the right....and it's still different... Just because someone has hair that goes to the side doesn't make it Justin Bieber hair....

It's so stupid now that everyone is saying that it's the Bieber style if you have your hair on the side. @NSA666999 When I was 14, there was no internet, no youtube, no worldwide social networking. So.... I still knew what music my parents were into, and gues what. I hated it (opera and other classical stuff). Nowadays I don't hate it anymore, I kinda get to respecting music from the heart even if it ain't mine. But what I really respect is the folks that show interest even if they're just 14 years of age. I couldnt at the time.

As for the 1960's, wich is the period "The Monkeys" was created, I am quite familiar with when I was 14. I guess your friend is right about the Monkeys being from the 1900's, then again so is Elvis and another boy band you might like named Hanson.
Also to answer your question from a few days ago, there might be a Monkey's Reunion tour in 2011 so you mght be in luck.
