@Me102288 Well could try taking an arrow and wrapping a piece of cloth around it which you have dipped in any flammable material. Then light it on fire and..fire:D
@joec123able No your wrong, the only records we have point to a good (roving) shot in Medieval times being about 400 yards so we could assume a little more for flight but 800 has never been achieved from an ELB.
@joec123able Check your facts retard. the best archers of the time of Edward III could only shoot half that distance. A Turkish flight bow could shoot maybe 800, but certainly not an English longbow.
Nice mate, you got some strengh in those arms. Just have to work on your tec. try the trad method out of england, lean forward, into the bow and krank that rear arm. Great stuff tho
Hi Heavybows, We're getting ready to move to Texas after living in England for eight years. I have a warbow and I was wondering if you know of any groups in the States that get together and shoot warbow clouts? Some of the funnest times I've had over here were just shooting big arrows as far as we could! Thanks
Dude, you do realise it is a 'Welsh Longbow'. It was Wales that British longbows came from, and Welsh archers that fired them for the english.
Also You should really use longer arrows at your draw length. I would hate to see you shoot through your hand, you need at least a couple inches in front of the bow...
guns are easy to shoot with practice. crossbows are easy to shoot . the longbow takes time and dedication. its up to the person what type of equipment they want to shoot. Cheers Marlon
@heavybows Guns are easy to shoot? Try some long range engagements on 700 meters or more, under time presure without a rangefinder and with a 25 mp/h half value wind and some nasty gusts. Pulling a trigger is easy like shooting a bow. Shooting a firearm is defently not just about pulling the trigger. To master a firearm in all conditions under stress and in engagements you need a lot of training and dedication.
@Thompsonjuekr why do you think the English had the most incredible armies? because they trained soldiers with longbows. while other armies (if they even have a ranged group) used crossbows.
@Thompsonjuekr why? because it was easy to train a soldier to use one. the longbow required years of practice to even get it to full draw, let alone fire it in precicion. which, they did not always know how to do. a directer often called and told sequences to rain arrows down on approaching groups. which was practiced on a tremendous sized clearing, practicing degrees of coordinating and estimating from the instructor, though there was ofter 3.
@Thompsonjuekr more was too many and if there was less enemy sharpshooters would pick them off, leaving the force hopeless. guns were an more powerful alternative to crossbows. they are easier to train soldiers on in a shorter amount of time. THAT is why they are easier.
@69avocado Listen, I am talking about long range Marksmanship and not about any historical facts and not tried to compare these things. I said that you shouldn't think shooting is easy. Like you said shooting an bow is not just about putting some arrows on some targets on 10 yards. And the same goes for long range engagements and other shooting. Of course, everyone can go to an range and shoot on paper on 20 yards. That requires no skill, like shooting an arrow on an plate at 20 yards.
@Thompsonjuekr the average person (who is not a dumbass) can shoot a plate at 20 yards with a rife plus about 6 minutes of instruction. the average person CAN NOT shoot a plate at 20 yards with a low power (40lbs) bow. they could be instructed taught and be practicing for an hour before they MAYBE hit it.
@69avocado Post Part2: Also you can not compare Archers with modern Soldiers. Archers were if I remember right an supporting force that can not live in an open fight without any melee units. Today there is now unit in the military that can be compared with an medival archer squad. Maybe modern howitzers or CAS/CMS or a Sniper Team that covers moving infantry with a .50. And like I mentioned before being a good Soldier/Sniper/DM is lot more than just to be able to pull the trigger.
@Thompsonjuekr i cant? i just did. and they could linve an open fight without any melee units. good ancient archers could fire 6 shots on a 80lb-100lb bow in 12 seconds. rangers did it in 8 seconds.
@Thompsonjuekr you'e wrong about archers being unable to fight without melee units. they were the vast majority of king richards army at agincourt, and his archers shot the french knoghts up and then pushed them into the mud and cut their throats.
Hey wtf? you used to pull alot more than this YEARS ago what happened? Didn't you have custom made 200lbs bow?
Remember you went to that competition and some Indian dude with feathers in his arms got pissed off because you had a heavier pull bow? His arm feathers looked like pigeon feathers instead of eagle feathers after that!
Hey, I know that this has been said already but you make that 120 look like 60!!!!! Very impressed!!! Keep up the good work.......maybe someday I will be able to make it look half as easy.
Thanks Nick. Yes its a Eastern red cedar made by Marc st louise. Wanted 160# but the bow came out to 120#. I havent shot it Nick. Cheers my friend Marlon
Nice video Marlon. Needless to say you make it look very easy. How about some footage of you shooting it? By the way, who made the bow? Cheers, your friend Nick.

nice, I'm up to a 40 pound longbow that has a shelf.. could say I'm training my arms.. not my archery skills lol
I think the medieval longbows were made of "iron oak" and archers were paid more then knights because they could kill a man 100 yards away..
Anybody know how to make a fire arrow? always wanted to try that
