it is truly a wonder that a small nation like finland could survive these wars as an independent nation stuck in between superpowers fighting for more or less world domination. there is noone, and i mean noone that i respect more than our finnish veterans who fought for our country and held out against overwhelming odds that the world at large saw as impossible.
"never forgive, never forget". we lost so many but remain as a free nation until this day.

The Bulgarian army was no sent to the Eastern front to fight against the russians because of the old ties between the two slavic-peoples in the past !
In 1944 - 1.500.000 Bulgarian soldiers could be sent to Normandy against the Allies to help the germans Wehrmacht ! Unfortunately it did not happen !
About the bulgarian "puppets" - read for the humiliating defeats of the English and French troops on the Southern - "Macedonian" front in Europe 1915-1918 .

Who can know? We do know from archival research that Stalin never saw Finland as independent. He was planning his attack on Finland while negotiations were going on in 1939. We know that the allies lied to finland about going to their aid in 1939-40.

Finland never joined the axis. And why is there on this vid the picture of marshal Mannerheim who was the commander in chief of the Finnish army but he was not in the position to make any international agreements? Later in 1944 he was elected as the president of Finland and he took Finland out of the war.

@satail All armies will occupy the other country's land in a war to establish a better defensive line. That is not the same as "conquering". Finland did not have a policy of permanently occupying land beyond it border to form a greater Finland, while some Finns wished that could be done. Fighting against the USSR and allowing Germans on Finnish land to help in the fight vs the USSR does not make it part of the AXIS. Finns wanted the allies to help, but they refused.
