Marvelous arrangement! This is one of the key videos that really turned me on to Wii Music. I was so overtaken that I picked up a Nintendo Wii (a good used price, too) and I've been having a blast.
I don't mind using the Tutes for some backing parts. Sometimes they just have the right groove, and there's no point in recording over them if their take is good enough. I've also found that Quick Jam is a great way to practice your chops, esp. solos.
I really do think the game has huge potential. Maybe they dropped the ball a bit with some of their song choices, but Miyamoto did state that the first release was kept simple to make the game a bit easier for everyone. I think it's a really hard game... but I'm ready for more challenging songs. :) I hope we get an update. :) I also find it interesting, in playing around with the songs, the different notes that they have thrown in there... they've done better with some songs than others :)
The more time I spend with Wii Music, the more I appreciate the song selections. When you consider how deep the music charts are - two scales for four major parts, backup players in a dozen styles - you really appreciate Nintendo's dedication.
Miyamoto also wanted songs that were universally known, and those tend to be the "simpler" ones we learn as young children. For Wii Music Encore, yes, I want many more songs - especially jazz - but I'm nowhere near finishing the current playlist.
Thank you! I can't take much credit - it seems that occasionally Wii Music will give you audio clues that you should improvise... I found it astounding that the game almost understood what I was trying to do. Almost scary - but this is the only time it has worked so far! ARGH.
