Violent, murderous criminals should NOT merely be "locked up," but executed according to due process, as is the RIGHT and the DUTY of government authorities, who BEAR THE SWORD in God's place, by His divine delegation, specifically FOR that purpose! Don't listen to all the wrong-headed turkeys out there who do NOT understand clear reasoning!
To " coolbreezeclub" - Wow - amazing intellect there! (NOT!) So that's what you come up with when you read Romans 13? My friend, stop the crooked, mixed-up thinking! There are many passages that speak to US as INDIVIDUALS, and then there are very clear passages which speak of the government's DUTY to punish violent criminals. Please keep your thinking clear on this! IF YOU LOVE people, you will support proper capital punishment! If you are confused and wrong-headed, you will not.
I fully supported the death penalty until I became a Christ follower. I now find concern in punishing murderers by killing. I fully support aggressive Law Enforcement and holding people responsible for their actions, to include jailing them forever. Kill for self-defense if needed, but killing for punishment just seems wrong, and its NOT justified in the Bible as Christ said to love one another. Lock them up for life if needed, but always love one another.
your using god as an excuse. in the bible, god may say a few things that says we should punnish those who harm ohers, but there are even more things that says we should not judge them, that we are not gods oursleves and we must love our enemies, treat others the way you want to be treated. and if your open-minded enough to agree that there is a chance that god may not exist, then the death penalty (in your argument) has no point. god says to love his children and the creatures, so dont kill them
You're just an ignorant Christian. As a Christian you should know that you are no one to judge people. God will be the only one judging and if he says its the criminals time to go then he will die but we are no one to judge that.
@yueyouko Yes criminals should be locked up - and suffer for their crimes. Most criminals have it better in prison than they did on the streets. MAKE THEM FEAR PRISON AND THEY WILL AVOID IT! If prisons were run like the Maricopa County Arizona Sheriffs Office runs their jail, prisons might work as a punishing tool and not a hotel.

I'm actually an atheist, but i myself support the death penalty. I do not think the bible is the reason to support the death penalty.

Where's justice in capital punishment? Criminals should be locked up for 100 years and suffer. That's justice.
and just so you know, not everyone is a Christian. so no one would care about Bible verses.
