  • what is that guitar in the right corner?

  • is that weed?

  • Thanks man, I don't see why people feel the need to be pretentious lol. Your video helped me so I'm happy :)

  • Like the vid alot. I especially like the explanation of the lesson. Anyway, anyone can put any note to theory that one plays. but you r correct, any thing that sounds good is good. Music and art are subjective. Not everyone appreciates Picasso, but that does not mean he was not great.

  • i believe this is called "side stepping".a beginners way to flirt with an "outside" sound. I do appreciate your video lessons.thanks and keep them comin'.

  • Hey manifestgtf what amp are you using, or are you using a POD or similar. Whats the happenin.

  • for these videos i use a vox tonelab with a couple of tiny unpowered computer speakers from the mid 90's haha...its not much, but you dont really need all that much to get a decent tone at such a low volume...haha it's definitely a far cry from the engl plus 2 412's i use with my bands

  • to me there is no such thing as a fusion "lick". one either can play fusion or they cant. You cant fake it by stringing licks together like in rock and blues. licks work in rock but sound fake in fusion and jazz, cuz it's not about licks, it's about improvised self expression, and licks are the opposite of that. Fools wont know the difference, but anyone who does will see you as a poor player and a phony wannabe, so this is best avoided. Sorry but you have to actually work hard to play fusion.

  • I posted this because I believe it's interesting and is easy to play..many people learn licks before they can improvise...so that is completely ridiculous..I was kind of taken aback by your fools remark...most people who listen to any form of music have no idea how to even begin playing it...it's all about what sounds good and moves you...I've run into waayyyy too many people like you both at berklee and professionally...shouldnt you be jacking off to weather report or chick corea somewhere?

  • and furthermore...most bop and fusion tunes have heads? wouldnt those be considered licks?...personally, i couldn't be paid to care less if someone with a pretentious name like "progjazzfusion" thinks that i am a poor player...i dont care what your background is or what names you can drop, etc...even if you're alan holdsworth..you don't have a leg to stand on here and any further comments you have that i perceive as being snobby will be removed faster than you can say "fusion fundamentalist"...

  • @manifestgtr - just saying there are no shortcuts in jazzfusion or youre a poseur

  • @progjazzfusion Scott Henderson would disagree with you

  • @MrUsedBooks - you must be joking, yeah scott makes it look easy but I got this info from him. I even met him. cool dude. if you watch his instructional videos and read interviews with him, he says the exact same thing. Yeah to start learning you can try this phony wannabe trick lick just to start, but sorry you gotta put in work to be musical or else you are just being a poseur jazz fusion wannabe, which is lame.

  • A nice "trick" that does sound good. Same principle as quickly sliding a chord a semitone above or below and then back when strumming, as long as it resolves it's ok. But when overdone it sounds obvious and repetitious, fusion is an intelligent use of altered scales and substitutions and can't be "faked" so this needs to be used sparingly. Enjoyed your vid ,,,,,

  • theoryless? I said that a half step up creates a dominant feel with the b..there's even a flat 9 in there...and I mentioned that a half step down gives you a 7 and a 9..how much more are you looking for? just because the means of achieving the sound is easy doesn't mean it doesn't have any value from a harmony standpoint...don't get me wrong..I still value any input

  • @manifestgtr hé,,,dude are u holding your pick with 3 fingers? cause i hold it like that and questionning myself if its possible to have a fast alternate picking with this holding

  • Where can I buy your DVD? I want it yesterday.
