  • I wrote my first script, my problem is that it is 240 pages and that I have 9 main characters. The movie is really funny and innovative. I dont see what can be omitted without affecting the overall movie.

  • Well I had a story in mind with no firm foundations, I saw these videos and it's fitting in nicely, but I do need to put this stuff on paper to organise things, thanks mate.

  • Good evening, I appreciate your kindness and your intelligence in this area. I was so scared, didn't know where to begin, everything all jumbled, not formatted...still not quite sure about everything yet....but I know as a novice writer...you just have to let it flow, when it starts to flow..cause there will be moments that it won't. Once again, thank-you kindly and I wish you all your wishes come true in this year of 2012.

  • does this formula help if i am writing a script for a movie like "scream"?

  • Listening to this guy is like listening to Carl Sagan. So damn relaxing.

  • What happens if I'm making a character but its basically the villain of the movie so they're problem doesn't really get fixed is that ok?

  • this guy is good

    thanx boddy

  • This is best teacher that expertvillage has!

  • You are a good teacher man :) but you should have numbered each step cuz now im kinda lost. :( i really wished it was number so it can help because i've already written my screenplay a Thriller and i just need to know how to professionally type it up. Im sure it will be picked up by a film company, i hope Screen gems will be interested. But firsti need to re-type the whole thing like the "expervillage" way so that it looks like a real script and not some amutre shit. :(

  • man this is awsome ur not like them expert village sht holes ur an awsome teacher

  • Thank you for sharing such information that explains and makes such clear sense. Aloha!

  • this is very good it help me alot

  • You are a great teacher. Breaking down complex into bite size pieces. You speak to the common man. We can immediately think of examples, good and bad of how these points play out! Great vid.

  • Actually really good lessons unlike most of expertvillages videos

  • Absolutely outstanding Ron you took something that seems to be so complicated and made it simple. You should teach classes in person. (Someone out there get this Wonderful Teacher in an Auditorium filled with hungry student that want to learn now to write a script keeping it simple) The way you present How To Write a Movie Script is excellent Thank you Ron for taking the time! Youre a Rock Star!

  • sure its short, but its direct & i picked up something from this...Good on ya Ron for posting these!

  • i love this guy. such a great teacher

  • Agree Outstanding!!! He is amazing

  • this is a good video, at least it teaches the basics of scriptwriting which is useful. If you want to go more indepth get a book about writing screenplays. simple. Just wish each video wasn't 2minutes long.

  • Okay, this is a joke... right? I think he's mocking EVERYONE in the industry that can't give you a straight forward answer to a straight forward question.

  • What? This is very straight forward and basic screenwriting theory. You obviously don't know a thing about the subject.. Dr. KickAss seems just by your name, you have a little bit too much to prove.

  • I DO see how writing too many characters can become a nightmare...and I HAVE been writing too many characters! It's different to see it visually. I took Robert McKee's class at UCLA, and I came away really confused! Don't tell him I said that...I'm afraid of him!

  • You can have minor characters. Just look at the rich complexity of characters in It's a Wonderful Life. The basic characters were George Bailey, Mary, Mr. Potter and the Angel. The minor characters, who actually played key roles in pivotal scenes, after only being briefly introduced in the beginning were The taxi driver and the cop, the drunken uncle who lost the money, the brother who went off to war, Mr. Martini the owner of the bar, the floosy who he invited skinny dipping, the rich friend.

  • that's a great movie

  • unless you kill the characters that you dont want to write about .. lol that's what I do ahhaha

  • This guy is awesome. Well educated and a true expert at screenplay writing. He reminds me of Morgan Freeman and some kind of t.v guy.

  • maybe its his voice :')??

  • Great tips. Some of my music is on my site, which is on my channel. Check it out. Thanks.

  • Didn't you mean you hope that the character in Act 1 is not the same character in Act 3 (not Act 2)?

  • No, just that the character grows in Act 2 and changes because of the conflict he/she is involved in.

  • This guy is doing a really good job!!

It's not like the others "expertvillage" videos.

    Thankyou and congratulations, man!!!

  • didnt explain it well for me really, sorry

  • thanks!!

but im just having trouble where to begin reely.

  • that was great tips.

  • Hi,

Yes I know they didn't number it.

I start on the LEFT SIDE of the BOARD (ACT 1)

and move to the right ACT 2 - and then ACT 3

  • This is good to learn how to write a movie but what about on how to write a scarey/Mystery movie?

  • it's hard to tell what part is next, they should have been numbered in parts

  • I know right! I'm trying to make a playlist from this but it make sit hard when it's not numbered.

  • @kuunami Especially hard when it's in a playlist...Wow, you got 25 thumbs up?

  • @zbarneyz

Yeah, If there's a playlist that's great. When I left this comment over 2 years ago, there was no playlist hence the 25 thumbs up.
