ROFL.. sweeping the snake out the door is a new one on me... what you have there is Lampropeltis Mexicana Thayeri.. or common name Variable Kingsnake.. because of dozens of different patterns they can come in. If you don't live near Mexico then it was probably one someone was keeping that escaped its cage. It also mildly resembles the Grey Banded Kingsnake from Texas, but the markings were too definitive of the Thayeri.
