Any tips on how to get a career as an animal rescuer?

I'm currently a high school senior and think this as a career choice. I don't really want to go get snakes from people's houses or capture mountain lions wandering in neighborhoods.

When I was stationed in Panama, I was working a front gate to a housing area. I looked out of the window of the Guard Shack and saw that a car had stopped about 50 feet from the shack.
