Your performance is greate. The pianos of the early 19 century for Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelsohn, Chopin, Schuman were so lacking if quality that it is difficult to know how the music should sound. Authentic (rather scruffy) or beautiful with modern pianos.
This should be a legimate question with regard to the correct interpretation of music from 1800-1850.
At least the choice for a modern piano makes for a nice sound, as you certainly do.
I am not trying to recreate the sound of the original instruments although I certainly try to take into account the characer of the pianos from Schubert's time.
Still, I must admit that I like the modern ones better, also in this music. :)
the opening was striking but when you changed the mood, i felt that the opening was lacking in character... am i wrong? i'll listen to this repeatedly to understand your music better...
I didn't quite understand you. Did your impression of my opening change in hindsight after you listened to the continuation of the first theme? Maybe it could be true for your way of feeling...
I hope listening to this repeatedly hasn't worsened the impression. :)
As for your question, how was what? The concert went very well, but if you ask about how to memorise the whole sonata, I must assure you the other two from the "three big sonatas" are more difficult in text, so the C minor wasn't a real problem. It contains much material that is reiterated more than once, hence one doesn't have to remember that much. Good luck!

Easily my favorite Schubert work, wish I could play this on but I don't need to when you play it so perfectly and gracefully. From Aussie fan!

I listened to your entire playlist of this sonata and all pieces were played beautifully - with much feeling! And all from memory ?!!!
Wish I could do this also but I am afraid the only thing we share is the love of this music which is fine by me. Thanks for posting !

une autre belle version d'une sonate immortalisée par Serkin(en mono certes)...Très beau jeu,....qui se rapproche aussi de Wührer
