  • Very well said, your comprehension and insight of things around you are well beyond your years. Alot of adults dont have the intellect and grounding to express themselves as well as yourself! Good job!

  • Young lady, you are on the right track and I pray for your journey. : D I felt that you were right to call that woman on her behavior and congratulate you on YOUR restraint. I know you were frustrated by her double talk and must say, you have now joined the American people in feeling the very same way towards all of our politicians. lol However this woman was quite rude and her attitude is what cost her time in her new home. Your attitude will give you streets paved in gold. In HIS name : D

  • Thank Goodness for her.

  • I was reading about the Synagro scandal involving Conyers and followed a link here. Keiara, I hope you get into a good college eventually and keep that great outlook on life in whatever career you choose. Conyers was trying to push your buttons, but you kept a cool and respectful head. Best wishes to you young lady.

  • Jeez, a brilliant kid. Nuclear family = good results, and Socialism fails. Good luck to her Detroit needs more kids like her.

  • Detroit is almost dead. It is dying because of dishonest, corrupt people. But out of it's ashes will rise people like you. You will go places in this world as long as you don't lose your integrity and honesty. Good for you Keiara. You are wise beyond your years.

  • You have a lovely family and are you a very nice girl. I wish you all the best for the future.

  • Wonderful video young lady. Young people like yourself give us older people hope for the future. You have a great attitude and outlook on life. I know your parents are great people and must be very proud of you. Thanks for making this great video. BTW, you showed great courage and intelligence when you talked to the councilwoman.

  • I hope you have a wonderful future Keiara! Keep persevering and achieving your life's goals!

  • Wow, little girl, props to you and your parents. I didn't even know the kind of maturity you have at your age. You have such insight and honesty to your outlook. Always keep it real, but never lose the warmth. You are a very special young lady. Peace and blessings!!

  • Kierara you are an AWESOME young lady...with an incredible future!! I'm totally blown away by how wise you are for such a young lady!!! God Bless you and your family!!

  • tiis true but did anyone notice se is readig from a peice of paper and thats why she keeps looking down?

  • @Suprememessage so what?

  • @ririsoosoo So maybe it isnt her own words.

  • Cheers and best wishes to you Keiara. You have the quality of a leader. You will do great things. God bless you and your family!

  • You are terrific!! Thank you for being honest about life. Its hard, but remember, its not so much what you accomplish, but what you learned on the journey getting there, that you will never forget.....Bless You!!!!

  • Keiara you are very brave and very very strong. You recognize when adults do not behave like adults and you know that you have a right to expect adults to do so. You will grow up and always remember the difference and model it for the children you love, and the children you come into contact with. I love that you used the word, "boundaries.' You are a shining light.

  • Is there a way to help contribute to Keiara Bell's future expenses? A trust or something?

  • Good job Keiara! Conyers is not the type of adult you want to learn from.

  • Miss Bell, Keep strong girl! I have never been so proud of a child in all of my life! I came across this video while searching......You are more of an adult than a lot of us.......I see you working in the White House one day....Remember, it's not about the color, it is what's inside....You made me think today...and not too many people can do that. Keep studying, Keep praying, and Keep the faith. You are one of a kind!

  • young lady, tell your daddy Mr. Harry if he has any car problem i"ll fix it for free

contact me at DEARBORN AXLE. we"r in detroit . ask for mike.

and keep up the good work. detroit needs you Ms. Bell

  • What an awesome girl!

I live in the suburbs just north of Detroit. That city is downright NASSSSTTTYYYY, and for anyone to turn out so positive like this girl amazes me.

  • P.s. I know growing up in Detroit is hard, but if you work hard you can make a good life. I did it!

  • I would vote for Keiara!

  • I admire your intellegents. As a sixth grader, you are my elder and a great rolemodel. Its people like you that can Shape our city of Detroit and even the world

  • Miss Bell, your wisdom, grace and beauty brought tears to my eyes. America is going to need you and your friends when you get out of college. You spoke so eloquently at that meeting and showed no intimidation in front of an "authority figure" (I use that term loosely in the case of Mrs. Conyers) who was shamelessly projecting her own misdeed on you. It was a beautiful sight! You demonstrated maturity, bravery and composure, not to mention an irrefutable argument. You have a very bright future.

  • I came across your video(s) by accident tonight. You are an inspiration! The way you spoke to Monica Conyers and showed your intelligence level was beyond her age... and hers lower that yours...lol You are a very talented young lady and I am positive I will be hearing many more great things about you! God Bless you and your family! My opinion, stay in church! & remain political, I think you have a calling...btw, beautiful voice! ~Tara~ Britton, MI

  • get it done young lady! Detroit is very proud of you!

  • i want to congradulate your parents for knowing how to raise you right . that goes to show the age is just a number not a state of mine . and in this case the counciel women is a child becouse and you are the mature adult. you impressed me

  • Keiara stay in school and most importantly stay in church and hopefully one day YOU will be running the city of Detroit. I would love to see the city reborn again and have some city leaders that we can be proud of. You were the adult in that conversation with Miss Conyers. Keep up the good work girl!

  • Ms. Bell I am very proud of you. try to stay focused throughout your young life. Get your education, although the stats show negative results of the system, I challenge you to challenge that system. Keep it up and hopefully we will see you running for an office.

  • selling candy out of the trunk of an old Cadillac..

    that's 'hood.

on a serious note, I admire this kid for standing up to the corrupt hood-rat Conyers..

  • Keiara, what a deep and thoughtful heart you have and sensibility. Please get your education, keep your values and run for office yourself after you get a few years experience in a career. You have the potential to be an excellent leader in that city and make a difference (although as you've seen it's not easy dealing with leaders (men, women, black & white) with huge egos and lack of humility. Go for it, you are needed!

  • Keiara Bell,

I watched your video and I am very proud to know we still have teenagers like you who are our last hope for this generation. Yes your parents are right, trust God. Remember God will never leave you nor forsake you. I will keep you in my prays and your family also. Have a blessed Christmas.

  • Young Lady, I am so proud of you. You stood up with respect and sincerity to a corrupt system.I grew up on Detroit's east side. I am product of Detroit public schools system. Although I haven't lived there for over 10 years. Because of you and others like you, I am considering moving back. Change is needed and its coming. You are my future. Good Job.

  • My heart goes out to you! Part of me wants to tell you to get out of The D ASAP! But another part of me wants to tell you to remain and be part of the solution.

This girl is a beacon of light in a VERY dark city and world!

Her parents deserve praise for helping to shape a promising future for her.

I'm so happy to see something other than ignorance in Detroit!

  • aye aint ya aunt Evangelist Price at Clinton Street Church?..yu sang at the vocational Bible Study dis past summer?

  • Thank-you for posting this video. People like Keiara and her family are reason enough why America's urban communities have to be saved.

  • this young lady obviously epitomizes the importance of growing up with a father in the household. she's obviously heavily influenced by male wisdom (no knock against her mom). the way she handled herself with conyers shows that her parents have positively shaped her ideas. she didn't even seem afraid. i am very impressed.

  • Great Video. Great young girl, stay blessed.

  • what an inspiration for a city, youth, and humanity. beautiful peace in a beautiful person. bless you Keirara.

  • Im tripping I grew up next to this house my parents have lived on this street for over 30 years the neighborhood could be better but clearly them walking past the barbwired fence isnt even in surrounding blocks............ ( some serious editing)it is the hood now but that block has held it down all this time. I was tripping like wow but she is very intelligent and I pray that she keeps up the good work God Bless

  • Wow! Powerful......

  • Miss Keiara, what an insightful, lovely, and articulate young lady you are! You handled yourself in a far more adult manner than most of the council members have in recent months. Your parents and teachers must be so proud! With form and grace you showed Mrs. Conyers what Leadership really means. This video sharing your thoughts, brought tears to my eyes... You will one day, I'm sure, make a great difference to this place we call home, our city, Detroit!

    Stay enlightened!

  • What a wonderful, mature, intelligent young lady! God Bless you and your family!

  • I am proud of you for speaking up for what is right. Good luck in your eventual career. You are going to go far, I hope.

  • you go girl--you run for mayor-you are a leader-reach for the stars they are not that far they just look that way---

  • and a little child shall lead them

  • Proud to have you speak out to show the youth of Detroit still have what it takes to makes the city great again. A strong future with your heart you will go far, keep doing what believe and your family will always be your back bone and support.

  • You are a very bright girl, with a good head on your shoulders, keep it up!!!

  • You are going places in life! I believe you have a good head on your shoulders. Keep up the excellent work so one day you can be my son's role model.

  • this has manoogian mansion on it and it is nothing about it

  • i am having trouble posting the entirety of what i have written

  • Do you believe that Conyers behavior was appropriate for a person in leadership? Is this the example we want shown for our children. I found it interesting that she compared herself to a child in class with a teacher. If a child had behaved this way, the child would be reprimanded. I'm not too familiar w/ Ms. Conyers, but from reports, it appears that she is possibly suffering from a personality disorder or anger issues. Either way, she should be accountable for her actions even if by child.

  • cajen42 - I agree with all your comments.

Keirara - I wish you the best. Your attitude is amazing despite the outside world environment.

  • Firstly it shows that detroit is desperate for positive voices. Secondly it shows that no one understands the possible loss of the whole discussion of the revitalization of detroit if a child is allowed to enter the fray, .

  • I know children who think higher and are more mature than adults and I welcome that. It is better that these young people are steered in this direction than in the background clueless. When dreams become real, they are put into goals. Children can began to reach for their goals now. It keeps them focused. Involving them in this arena is educational and gives them options for their future. We can't be dream killers for our youth. This is empowerment. It is beautiful when we don't fear it.

  • i have trouble with this video. in the video with monica conyers, this little girl becoms disrespectful herself and was put in a position that only an adult should occupy. the people who laud the little girl as a civic hero are wrong. this little girl should be somewhere playing, not being superficially involved in adult politics. the whole situation is stupid. ever heard the assertion that children shouldn't be involved in adult conversations?

  • Listen, the days of children are meant to be seen and not heard are gone. I am glad to see this young lady be able to articulate her perception of an adult who was being a poor example of how to control her anger. I thought that video showed how ignorant adults can be because Conyers should be more in control of her temper and yet she compared her adult humanity to that of a child. Which may be true based on her behavior.

  • not true cajen, what social and political skills does this girl have to merit her taking on such a role civicly? This isn't about the rights of children to be heard, it's about keeping business among people who do business. I think the infusion of this little girl into detroit city politics shows a few grave things,

  • I am so sorry you feel this way. It is my belief that opinion such as yours is what is grave about our society. I love it that this child is informed about what is happening in the political arena. I applaud the adults who are actively engaging these young people to have such debates. I think for some adults is that we will have to practice what we preach when we empower children. I disagree, what the board does affects children and therefore is their business. Children do have rights you know.

  • Wow! Keiara is ahead of her time. What a great mentality to have at such a young age! I love how she knows the weaknesses of humans, yet she takes that knowledge to better herself and try to better everyone around her. Just what Detroit needs... she should be the mayor! :-) She's definitely going to be in high positions as she gets older. Brilliant!

  • Young lady? Well done. This is a demonstration of how some adults have never grown up and are exposed by our young, intellegent youth of the future. I wish you the best and I'm sure you will speak up and work on behalf of your community from a TRUTHFUL perspective.

  • Miss Bell, you are a very smart, mature young lady. I wish you Jesus, and as well a bright future. Your best days are ahead of you! Be Blessed.

  • God bless you beautiful girl! God Bless your mom and dad for being good role models for you. You definitely have God in your life. You're in my prayers from North Dakota. xxoo

  • To grow up in this city you need to be strong like this. There is not a single role model in detroit that isn't an athlete. with the violence, the failing education system, and poor leadership all around. this girl is a breath of fresh air. Monica Conyers is a disgrace to try and justify name calling in politics. Thank you Keiara!

  • You are so smart and intelligent! We need more young teens like you. We need to turn the city of Detroit around... and you can help to make that happen!

  • I vote for you to be City Council President of Detroit. You have more knowledge and wisdom about human issues than the currant City Council. You need to go into politics you could move mountains. Adults could learn valuable lessons from you. Job well done MOM & DAD

  • You were correct young lady in your debate. Remain humble before God and steadfast in your stand for Righteousness for The Al Mighty is with you. Be not afraid of their faces or how they lift themselves up or Puff their cheeks to cause you to fear. For the Lord thy God is walking with you and will protect you and deliver you from His enemies hands. They hated God from the beginning even before God sent you before them.

Be strong and WITNESS the power of the Living God in your situation.

  • I am glad to know people like this actually exist.....Hallelujah for people like her

  • Sweety, You are a special young lady. You inspire this 46 year old male who is worried about the future of this great country. You give me hope. Keep you right....God Bless

  • The past comments here say it all, Keiara is quite an outstanding role model with such love for her family, friends and community.

  • Man if i make it and become successful this girl is getting first year tuition present from me personally what great girl who will become an even better woman im 18 and i look up to her i have to admit her maturity is on a level that surpasses mine

  • You are smart and wonderful child. Kids like you are our hope for the future. My hat is off to Mom and Dad for a job well done!

    Keiara for President!!

  • WOW! This clip brought me to tears.

  • Baby girl keep your head up and keep striving to overcome any obstacle life has placed in your way. Always put God first, and always make your mom, dad and community proud!!

  • Keira Bell is a very special young lady..i will look out for you

  • Stay encouraged and uplifted young lady! You are a shining example for this new generation to know that standards don't have to be compromised...you just have to STAND UP! May Jesus Christ continue to bless you and your family :)

  • You see what happens when a man and woman both raise a child together. Do you see what happens when a woman chooses a good man?

  • Thanks for the glimpse into your life Keiara. Thanks to your sister, brother, mom & dad. Thanks to your friends and your pastor. May they continue to be the supporting individuals closest to you as you work hard and become whatever you want to be in this great country.

    love

    you will do well

  • It's easy to see this young lady will go far in life. This give us hope for our country. God Bless her!

  • a beautiful, and talented, wonderful, young lady. Please stay strong, and make something of yourself. Peace and love youngster. You Owned conyers girl!

  • You know you may not have much financially, but you've got more than anyone could ask for.

People who've got money would pay anything to get the love and happiness you've got.

Keep the spirit high, turn to God, and smile (in my religion we believe smiling is charity... do it for those who aren't as rich as you)

  • A beautiful little girl and a beautiful family. Keep God in your life and everything you do. Money isn't everything. Being honest, having integrity, standing up for what's right, having faith in God and supporting your family is what life is all about. I grew up in Detroit and went to Courtis and I know life there is hard. Don't give up. You have all the tools you need to be as successful as you want to be.

  • Hey...from the city of Sterling Heights (yes .. those dang suburbs)..i wish you the best. God is leading you down a wonderful path and has equipped you with vital tools. A loving family, an amazing presence, budding leadership qualities and an outlook of pure hope. You will touch many if you continue down this path.

  • hey gurl...i dont live 2 far from u...im a windsorian..but u kno i always go shoppin in tha D! lol anyhoo, i jst wanted 2 say im proud of u and I KNO, U ARE GONNA GO VERY FAR IN LIFE! so dont disappoint..lol, got much luv 4 u

  • Keiara, you are a shining light in a world that is too often dark. You conducted yourself with such grace in your interview with Ms. Conyers, that I was astounded. I teach in a University and I rarely hear my students speak with such maturity. Here's to more young people with the strength of character you have Keiara! God Bless.

  • What touched me the most about this video is your family. What you said about your parents and the love you have (and show!) for each other is an inspiration to young and old alike! Too bad Mrs. Conyers was never taught that love and respect go hand in hand.

  • i like this vid...i stay in the D so i know also whats its like growing up there...i grew up in brightmoore so i was always in the house lol..only time i came out is when i was going somewhere or when i wanted to hoop..but from the looks of things you have a bright future ahead of you so keep up the good work and stay blessed

  • Aww, such a sweet video. :o)

  • You are a very very beautiful and intelligent young lady Keiara. Stay strong and keep up the good work sweetie.

  • Yeah, it is sad that I have to be so careful, at this free age!! But, it is true I love my family!! Thank you for noticing!!

  • @keiarab4

As a dad that loves his daughter as deeply as I feel your dad loves you allow me to say I feel aw struck to have noticed this vid only seconds after leaving a comment on the vid titled "Monica Conyers Debates with an 8th Graders".

It's been a Godly type gift to me on my birthday (even though I'm an agnostic) to have watched your vid.

My daughter is now in her 20s & you remind me of how & why she is successful today.

Your parents deserve nation wide Respect & Attention.....

    1love

  • I think that Max and Charlie derves an award for this story on real people doing real things. I think they should be given a raise on his job, and other newspapers should admire Mr. LeDuff for being the great rteporter that he really is, his stories come from the heart. If u ever question this story from City Council, to pricipals, please don't hesitate to contact the Bell Family. U can always find us at home, church,or in you local neighborhood! Please as for Harry Bell and Family. By (Mr. Bell)

  • I as a Detroit resident, feel that the story that Max and Charlie did on Keiara, her church, school, and her life reprsents 95% of the poor Detroit residents. Our real life is that we actually may not get anything out of life, but we are always trying to achieve something. I think if you have eyes to see and ears to hear this big picture, this story talks about every poor American. It has nothing to do with race, color, gender, or religion, but has something to do with the Real World. (read ^)

  • This is beautiful

  • Oh Detroit... Making Windsor seem like Shangrila since 1967. Hang in there Detroit, seems like you still have some hope in youths like this one.

  • This girl is amazing and extremely smart!!

  • Thank you I am Keiara Bell, and I appreciate you for this compliment!! Thank YOU!

  • Your welcome sweetheart!!! Keep up the great work!!

  • ....and a child shall lead them.

  • Wow! I was born and in Detroit and left after age 15 after My Mother's death and I have heard of how things are so different now than that year in 1988 they I left.My mother kept me so sheltered to the point I ask myself was things like this going on around and I just didnt know it? I lived in a middle class neighbor and had and got everything I wanted I never understood why my mom stressed that point. Now I see why
