He has been kind enough to share with me his inspirations for the royal boquets, as well as details concerning their creation. Of cousre Diana's was a show stopper, but this one is my favorite. This is actually my favorite of the royal weddings because they actually look thrilled to see each other. He's trying to catch a glimpse of her from the start and the second he sees her he breaks into that boyish grin. I'm still sad they didn't make it.

no offense to fans of Prince Andrew and Sarah, but Charles and Diana's wedding had more pomp and circumstance, however you wouldn't expect less for the future heir to the throne. we probably won't see a grand wedding until maybe William marries. Andrew and Sarah's wedding seemed to be rushed.

Diane also had over a thousand pieces of stephonotis blossoms in heres. Speaking from an AIFD member it would have probably cost about 3k for bouquet back then.

Between 1890s and 1980s, smaller puff sleeves had become fashionable in the 1940s everyday wear (much smaller) and late 1970s' bridal fashion. Diana's dress was actually quite innovative, with sleeves and skirts in enormous size. Her princess-like dress influenced bridal fashion throughout the 80s.
I mean Diana's dress was quite innovative in 1981. Sarah's dress style was very commonly seen in 1986. Diana's dress remind me of the Romantic Era in the 1830s. The period was notorious for having enormous sleeves.
Fergie looked stunning, she literally took my breath away on her wedding day, absolutely gorgeous. The most I like about this wedding is the blue carpet. Everything & everybody looked faboules on it.

It was ok, as ar as Royal wedding go, I do feel this one does pale in comparison to Princess Diana's, this once lacks the fairytale essence of Diana's, and Diana's gown was far more elegant, take away the train, the dress is very common. Also the processioal song is almost morbid sounding, I dunno, just not very regal to me, as far as Royal weddings go, Diana's takes the cake!
Despite some comments made on here, Sarah was not a "royal princess." She was an HRH marrying a royal prince with a dukedom title. Hence that is why Sarah was known as HRH The Duchess of York prior to her divorce.
HRH does stand for "Her Royal Highness", doesn't it? I thought that was a title of royalty. And one of Sarah's titles was Princess Andrew. If you are Her Royal Highness and one of your titles is Princess, I should think that would mean you're a royal princess. Not a "princess royal" or THE Princess Royal, and not a princess in your own right, but royal and a princess.
Beautiful gown! Interesting floral tiara - so glad she changed it after the wedding (when she officially became the Duchess of York) Notice at about 4 min and 10 sec into the procession, Sarah's veil slightly gets hooked on something and it startles her and apparently she asks her father about it. He looks back briefly and luckily all is ok.

This is actually my favorite of the royal weddings because they actually look thrilled to see each other. He's trying to catch a glimpse of her from the start and the second he sees her he breaks into that boyish grin. I'm still sad they didn't make it.

I guess it's simply too long. A nice train of practical length looks lovely, but this one was just enormous and rather vulgar, I thought.
Nearly all the royal weddings have these huge trains, usually requiring a whole team of bridesmaids to maintain.
Countess Sophie of Wessex is an exception - she had a beautiful, elegant dress, in a classic shape that made the most of her figure.
It's about the bride, not the dress.

@covmatak She chose to wear flowers in her hair because she was not yet a royal. You'll notice she is wearing a tiara on the way out, because she was now married and royal.

no offense to fans of Prince Andrew and Sarah, but Charles and Diana's wedding had more pomp and circumstance, however you wouldn't expect less for the future heir to the throne. we probably won't see a grand wedding until maybe William marries. Andrew and Sarah's wedding seemed to be rushed.

Sarah Duchess of York and Baroness of Killeagh. I wish we could have grand events like this in the United States. We are only treated every four years to an Inauguration and occassionally a State funeral as was the case with Ronald Reagan.
I wonder if Margaret Thatcher was invited and sitting in the Abbey pews.

Her bouquet was absolutely fantastic. I like the idea that she only had floral and no greenery in it. Diane had english needle point ivy in hers. Diane also had over a thousand pieces of stephonotis blossoms in heres. Speaking from an AIFD member it would have probably cost about 3k for bouquet back then.

Actually it was not. The puff sleeve that size big was out of fashion from the late 1890s. Between 1890s and 1980s, smaller puff sleeves had become fashionable in the 1940s everyday wear (much smaller) and late 1970s' bridal fashion. Diana's dress was actually quite innovative, with sleeves and skirts in enormous size. Her princess-like dress influenced bridal fashion throughout the 80s.

I mean Diana's dress was quite innovative in 1981. Sarah's dress style was very commonly seen in 1986. Diana's dress remind me of the Romantic Era in the 1830s. The period was notorious for having enormous sleeves.

Fergie looked stunning, she literally took my breath away on her wedding day, absolutely gorgeous. The most I like about this wedding is the blue carpet. Everything & everybody looked faboules on it.

It was ok, as ar as Royal wedding go, I do feel this one does pale in comparison to Princess Diana's, this once lacks the fairytale essence of Diana's, and Diana's gown was far more elegant, take away the train, the dress is very common. Also the processioal song is almost morbid sounding, I dunno, just not very regal to me, as far as Royal weddings go, Diana's takes the cake!

Despite some comments made on here, Sarah was not a "royal princess." She was an HRH marrying a royal prince with a dukedom title. Hence that is why Sarah was known as HRH The Duchess of York prior to her divorce.

HRH does stand for "Her Royal Highness", doesn't it? I thought that was a title of royalty. And one of Sarah's titles was Princess Andrew. If you are Her Royal Highness and one of your titles is Princess, I should think that would mean you're a royal princess. Not a "princess royal" or THE Princess Royal, and not a princess in your own right, but royal and a princess.

Beautiful gown! Interesting floral tiara - so glad she changed it after the wedding (when she officially became the Duchess of York) Notice at about 4 min and 10 sec into the procession, Sarah's veil slightly gets hooked on something and it startles her and apparently she asks her father about it. He looks back briefly and luckily all is ok.
