  • as a curiosity, I have tested and is true, are romanian words included in the song...... I didnt knew it until I have seen the last comments from tis video.... and I am a romanian guy .:-)

  • is this a satanic chant?

  • if you reverse the word's meanings' in english it reads like; The Deep Priestess bids Shame to all her foolish enemies . . .

for our sheilded followers, for the cruelty,

the death, the war, the evil sickness, the condemnation,

and the chaos of the coming ones, and for the

revenge of the virtues of the Masters of Satan, the

    Elders of the Witch Coven

  • It's not satanic unless you want it to be.

  • christian song in reverse.. does it means that is satanic ?

  • I love this song. I hate when people say that it's Satanic because it's backwards. Playing music, religious or not backwards is not Satanic! So if you play the Jesus loves me the Bible tells me so song backwards that would be Satanic?

  • @totalrandomcrap The music " masked ball " of Jocelyn Pook is simply a religious singing blessed in Romanian language (more exactly a mass of Orthodox ritual) which is upside down played. Satanistes thinks that initial effects are so reversed. It is a big classical of the luciférienne clowning that to devote itself to such techniques, notably in music (technology of the backmasking), see the interviews of the father Régimbald on this subject.

  • Isn't this a satanic song, right? :S Someone tell me please because I like this song. though it make me scared

  • @skizpo No, this isn't satanic. It is a Romanian prayer which observes that God has commanded his followers to pray for the forgiveness of sins and observes that those who pray 'keep well this holy place'. This chant was recorded backwards, however, by sound designer Jocelyn Pook. Some make a huge deal of this, but I don't think that Pook or film director Kubrick had anything 'satanic' in mind.

  • @skizpo no

  • is this latin backwards/??

  • @sheikhmat Romanian

  • very good job.

  • Not satanic song! -.-"

Voices were Romanian preists played backwards...

  • @AntonioSergio1 Yeah, well... playing it backwards makes it satanic. It's like hanging the holy cross upside down.

  • @LightStijn

People say this when they don't realize that their concept of what is Satanic is based on an aversion to REFLECTING on oneself or any other thing.

  • @LightStijn In the context of the masked ball in "Eyes Wide Shut" you could, indeed, see this as an allusion to satanism. I would like to emphasise, however, that this song does certainly not reflect Pook's attitude towards satanic beliefs and rites - The symbolism is simply part of the film; means to and end, my friend.

It sounds awesome and scary. When I heard it for the first time (that was while watching the film), it sent shivers down my spine - great music :D

  • Draculas favorite music?

  • this roughly translates as 'the lord said to his apprentices new command I give to you'

  • Both this and Migrations are perfect for ritualistic purposes.

  • A fascinating satanic song! lol

  • @Aetila

  • Ci sarebbe molto da dire su questo brano, splendidamente arrangiato dalla bravissima Pook, ma, forse, è meglio ascoltarlo in ossequioso silenzio!

  • 2.35 uffff

  • you can search "eyes wide shut reverse" and find the original song, original song is a romanian orthodox prayer

  • Check out,,ELIJAH'S MANTLE--(Misere De Profundis)

  • Does anyone know what does this song mean?!!!

I'm really get curious when i listen to this song...

    and what does it language?

  • I was enchanted by this amassing composition of a chanting of such depth and intensity!

  • It is an original pray song, recorded perhaps in a ROMANIAN Greek-Orthodox church.

It is in Romanian and reversed. The background music is added -not reversed. Jocelyn Pook was influenced by Gyorgy Ligeti who composed the film's background music (the one with the piano).

  • Remind's me of ,Lustmord-Heresy!!!

  • why analyse it - just bloody enjoy it

  • Watch Rob Ager's review of this movie!

  • amazing stuff. i have'nt read anything about this song. i derive from it that its about good and bad speaking to one another. im not religious in anyway, but i do believe in equilibria. i dont know the language, i think its Romanian(maybe i read that) bad or evil is a low and constant vocal, whereas good is loud but brief. makes sense to me. songs have to mean something dont they? its like, how do u incorporate the meaning of singing into life that doesnt really need it? even i lost me, doh!

  • About good and bad? Well yes, it certainly is! It is about wanting "Good" in the world; a pray song to God in a church. However, in the movie the song is "REVERSED" which means the opposite is intended. What goes against Good (evil). The church becomes the mansion hall (very like a church) where the prayer becomes the chant of slaved souls!!

  • This REVERSED song can also be interpreted to mean a rejection of Christianity. Rejection of Christianity is NOT synonymous with the rejection of GOOD nor is it synonymous with the rejection of God. Christianity does NOT set the standard for what is good and evil in this world !
